I'm particularly interested in cognitive linguistics (how language shapes reality). That being said, can anyone give me any insight into how Uralic (finno-ugric) languages compare to indo-European in regard to music/ lyrical composition, or is it irrelevant and these dudes are just very talented/ creative? (P.s. I've most likely had too much to drink, am bored, yearning for meaningless conversion, or none of this makes any sense.)

Finnish is perfect for singing. The pronunciation is sharper but it also allows for very strong tones. It is very different from almost any other language. As for lyrical composition, I doubt it's very different from any language, but I know shit. But what I know is that these guys are very talented - a very likely very poor, too. ;-)

Do you like the bands that make up their own language for many of their tracks like
      The Cocteau Twins,
      Sigur Ros,
      and others
that I can't recall right this second as I'm stoned and have a chatty, wanting to share, thing happening 🤔😀

@@The1stMrJohn not particularly big fans of those artist you mentioned, but the concept of "artificial languages" for vocals is interesting. It essentially puts emphasis on how the vocals sound rather than what's being "said". When I listen to music this is actually more important to me anyway, even when sung in English. I clearly don't understand Finnish and haven't even bothered to read translated Oranssi lyrics. Mars Volta is a good example of English lyrics that don't make a lot of "literal" sense, but I've read Cedric chooses particular words merely for their "aesthetic". Sorry for late reply.
