I’ve got a .060 over 318 with a bog issue also. Running the procomp heads with comp cam xe268. Gotta love these 318’s! Some people say they are boat anchors but they’ve never built one
They're great little engines, and with some head work they're just as good as 340's. But how did you manage to bore a 318 .060 over? I didn't think the cylinder walls were thick enough to handle that
@@FeatheredDino depends on the year of the block. I have one that went .120 just because. And guess what,,, it still runs and that was 1990. We had a pile of old 340 pistons and 3 old 318 blocks and nothing better to do. It has been in a shortbed 4wd with a comp cams 272H from 1989, and J heads from a 360. It doesn't overheat and sounds great and we only have rings bearings and gaskets in it besides boring and honing on a Saturday night at the machine shop after hours [on our own time]. It really makes me smile when I get asked if it's a 360 for how well it cleans the tires at the county dirt drags. Most late 60's 318's sonic check better than .260 wall thickness from what I have seen.
Nice Cuda! Awesome car! I love it! Congratulations Mr! V8 318 its a great engine! It reminds me, when I was young….70s……Here in Mex. We have the Valiant Barracuda V8 too. With 318 four barrel application. HiPo engines. Good for 270 horsepower to the wheel. 320 at crank! Good times in 70s……. Thank you for posting this video! God Bless you!

Your running 10's with a 408 small block that's pretty good. Maybee it is 600 HP. Did you use a stroker crank. I believe you increase the stroke with a stroker crank.
318 engines are a great little engine I have owned cars and trucks with these engines and they are great! I have a 318 in my 1983 d150 with comp cams valve train and bigger heads , aluminum intake with Holley carb and it’s awesome for a little cube engine
Congratulations on the 10,,,that's not bogging off the line , its falling on its face ! Once you get a handle on it you should be deep in the 10s ! Good luck!
This is a really great car. The way the car functions as a whole is incredible. You just have a really good combination. You have a excellent power to weight ratio and the car is consistent.
@@garysgarage9827 the guy from Simpson speed shop launches his 360 car with a 4,500 Converter after trying a 3500 he cut a few tenths. it might need some more Pump shot volume in Carb. Best of luck
@@garysgarage9827 Maybe a wider or taller slick, that dart was 28x10.5 with 4.10s trapped at 6100 area, he is going for 4.30:1 this year, but he has been short shifting a few 100 RPMS and ran same number although on Dyno his 360 maxed out at 530 hp at 6,200
Runs good. With a little more gear to stop the engine from getting tugged down when you launch and you'll probably get your 60 fts into the 1.40s and knock a tenth or two of yout ET.
The two step is referring to two different rev limiters basically. You have your high rev limiter (normal one in a car) to keep you from floating valves and destroying your engine, then the second lower one gives you a consistent launch rpm, let's you get off the line with the engine spinning just as fast every time. That way you can fine tune it and get as much power to the wheels off the line without spinning tires or bogging your engine
I got a footbraker 67 Notchback Cuda. Runs 7.3 @1/8 I wish so bad that mine looked that good. My front panels haven't been painted since they were done in fiberglass.
Point is, he started with a block there's still plenty of laying around everywhere. As opposed to 340 blocks being ultra expensive and hard to come by.
318s are a formidable small engine with easy HP building! Well done!
The way that car pulls after the little bit of bog....Probably 10.50s are right there. Super cool!

You need to improve your shifting ability! Do you know what a power shift is?
You gotta launch that thing around 5 or 6 grand! Small blocks like to rev.
