I like the Japanese offensive tactics. deep threes create space for speedy guards. constant pressure from a fastbreak. Where the improvement is needed is definitely on defense. I saw a lot of awkward positioning in the post way too many times that lead to easy layups, no dribble needed. the zone is good counter for size but I think they may lack the length to utilize to its full potential. Rotations were good but you get tired after the third one. all in all i'm impressed with the fight by Japan just ran out of gas.

Not so long ago Japan used to lose by 40-50, even 60 points, against top teams as Spain, France, USA, etc. Now by 18 against a France super team....and without Watanabe and Hachimura. Nobody beats japanese people when it comes to work hard and learn, and here are the results. So happy for them, amazing culture and bright future.

From Japan only Tominaga and Togashi played well in this game. They scored 20 points and 15 points. They were really good in this game and they scored lots of 3pt. Hawkinson was also good. He fought lots of times with higher quality players for catching rebounds and also scored some points. I think Japan in Mundobasket will be a tough team to defeted but their quality is lower than big percent of teams in this tournament, except Iordania China Lebanon South Sudan Philippines and probably Venezuela Puerto Rico, so their travel in this competition will end fast.

Rui didn't play today but I looked it up and he will play in the FIBA World Cup, Yuta Watanabe who is also an NBA player with pretty good height, length, and athleticism also will play but he didn't play this game cause he suffered an injury, but thankfully it isn't bad enough that he can't play come the start of the tourney.
