    Something I still can't fully "process" is Swiss' warmth. Being from Mexico commonly think Swiss' were very stoic and "dry" people (due to the popular culture of punctuality whereas mexicans are more laidback). Jeez I was soooooooooooooo wrong; it was common that when I was confused and dumbfounded people would come and ask if I was lost and needed directions, providing extra recommendations or even invited us to sit at a table, eat and drink wine while both my wife and I were like "is this really happening?!"
    It was something so joyful it makes me teary whenever I relive those memories 🥲

    We LOVE Thun!!!! We also felt it was completely underrated. The castle and the boat ride on Lake Thun is wonderful.

    Thank you for the video. Thun is very charming. But the lake, my goodness, with the castle and the mountains at far is so beautiful and serene. I visited with my son before the Covid. We took a boat ride on the lake ( free with Swiss pass). I used one of pictures I took with my phone as my Zoom meeting background during the Covid time. It just made me a little happier at my meetings😊

    SHHHHHH! You're giving away all my secret places. I'm much happier visiting off the beaten path places where there are more locals than tourists. I've been to all of these places except Saas-Fe, and you've hit some golden ones for quaint villages/towns and beautiful views & walks. Now, if you mention my next 10 spots in another video I'm really going to be upset 😉😄😄

    I went to Thun last summer and was absolutely amazed, particularly for the castle, the old town, and to be fair its much better than Interlaken.
    Bern is also an amazing place, and indeed is definitely underrated

    What’s the best way for a couple travelling by train together to buy tickets? Is it best for 1 of us to purchase both tickets via the SBB app (including travel cards) or should we both buy individually? Or is there a better way? Thanks. Also do you know how to get the 75 CHF version of the top of Europe pass when travelling from eigergletscher and using the Bernese overland pass? Their website says 75 but on the top of Europe site there’s no option for that with the BOP. Thanks

    @Thetravelingswiss - Quick question. I've heard you mention the necessity of ensuring you have enough Swiss Francs vs Euros or American dollars, but I've not come across a video addressing access to normal credit card processing. I don't normally carry much cash and prefer (very much) to just use my card. Is the infrastructure easy enough to use if you carry a Visa?

    • @TheTravelingSwiss
      @TheTravelingSwiss  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yep! visa and mastercard are widely accepted, just double check that your card doesn't have additionally fees for international purchases (those can add up quickly)

      I've travelled yearly to Switzerland (except 2022) and the cards Louis & Alexis mentioned are accepted almost everywhere. For two weeks' worth of travel I usually get around 150chf "just in case" and then end up needing to spend almost all of it the last day there paying for a hotel or meal and buying chocolate at the local Migros & Coop to take home to family. (We do have a big family 😄)

    • @JanPBtest

      Cards are commonly accepted. If you need cash, use "proper" ATM machines belonging to reputable institutions like banks or the post, but do NOT use those cheeseball "Euronet" ATMs, they are a ripoff (and they look the part). Also, when you use any card, credit or debit, always select local currency (CHF), do NOT select US dollars. This way you get the better (interbank) rate (look carefully at the keypad because the default is usually US dollars). The only mild annoyance with American credit cards is that USA seems to be the last country on the planet that uses the antiquated "card + signature" system instead of the "card + PIN". This very rarely is a problem (unless the clerk cannot find a pen 🙂)

      One more thing. You will want to always have a few 1 & 2 franc coins for restrooms in public areas like train stations and shopping centers. WCs on the trains themselves are free (and clean!)

    Bonjour Louis, hello Alexis,
    Je suis un peu frustrée du faite que vous n'avez pas montré les beautés de la ville de Biel/Bienne... Le lac, l'île Saint Pierre, la beauté de la vielle ville, Rolex, Omega, Swatch etc. Et cette ville est une exception ce qui concerne le bilinguisme...

    Ich bin etwas enttäuscht, dass ihr die Schönheiten der Stadt Biel/Bienne nicht gezeigt habt. Der See, die Sankt Petersinsel, die Schönheit der Altstadt, Rolex, Omega, Swatch etc. Und diese Stadt ist einfach einmalig aufgrund ihrer Zweisprachigkeit...

    Bern is not the "capital city" of Switzerland, but the "federal city".
