To be fair, it has NEVER officially been called "Tram Sunday". It's official titie is " Fleetwood Festival of Transport." It's just more of a mouthful to say, so everyone shortens it. The vintage trams used to run through the street, but now with 50 to 60,000 people filling it during the day, it became stressful on the trams, the tram drivers and the crowds and the trams had to literally crawl through. So now the heritage fleet start from Fisherman's Walk and do proper tours back towards Blackpool at proper speeds to make it safer and more enjoyable, as well as not being a strain on the rare and precious heritage tramcars. Also, the power has to be turned off on that section anyway, as if any of the funfair, stalls or any tall structure touched the wires, even slightly and for even a second, that's 650 volts. 240v in a house can kill, so 650v... REALLY wouldn't end well. I hope this gives a little bit more context as to why the old trams no longer run in the street. Thanks for a great video.
