15:15 This is by far my favourite, a beautiful house, designed with thought, loved the switches too. 27:50 is super impressive, and of course, the last one, 34:36 now looks fantastic, truly a home.
As an architect in the making, I must say, I would sink into the ground ashamed had I planned the first project. What a total mess! And you can bet, that there are countless construction errors still undiscovered that will lead to massive costs in the future, like exposed metal rusting, water leakage, windows breaking due to structrual movement etc.
Not to mention that I sincerely doubt the architect made their clients fully aware of some of the real problems of what they're building. I fear they won't really be able to practically live in this beautiful, expensive heartache - what retiree can lug groceries up two sets of stairs all the time, for instance? How are you cleaning the outside glass of your kitchen? Etc etc
It used to be more lax I believe during the 70s and people literally just took the piss hence why planning is now so anal and we have things to protect listed buildings
The old tower was charming and fitted in with the surrounding area, the new cantilever monstrosity is awful. I have no idea how it got planning. If I were their neighbours, I would be mortified. All the others - stunning.
I have to say that many of the couples in this episode seemed to be at their end and just holding it together for the taping. It might be a misinterpretation but it might also say that all their efforts towards a physical object don't bring their true peace in their relationship and maybe their treasures were laid up in the wrong goals.
5:30 are they high? They spent thousands to get a cantilevered design and a glass facade free of columns or obstructions... Then they thought "well actually it might be better to put two giant ugly thick frames for sliding doors out to nowhere".... What the hell?? Are they going to build balconies or something? Why the hell have they got doors that open to a fall to their death lol
Interesting construction, just in the wrong place. It diminishes and distracts from its neighbouring architecture. Another example of galloping narcissism of architects and monied clients.
I thought I'm seeing things wrong but the first house has windows that are sliding on to nothing!!! Isn't that unsafe?? He has sliding doors and no balcony or patio... it's bonkers. Why didn't he just put windows that aren't open??
The show “Grand Designs” has been running, on UK Channel 4, for 25 years. A typical episode follows a person or household who are planning an innovative self build project. This is a clips show with the best designs from a recent season. Loads more background here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Designs?wprov=sfti1

First house is disgusting... doesn't fit in with the neighbourhood, and is a big eyesore ... terrible idea!
Exquisite, every one.....
Tim has the final word's.....
"I agree with her....."
🤣🤣🤣
Love this show. Makes me feel inspired and happy.
Would like to see that tower built as the design intended. Would make a sublime home.
Hats off to Juilono and zara.. beautifully built
Everyone of projects 👌👌Masterpiece
The last house has the nicest feel to it.

@@KayAwoooo Don't think they need to worry in light of climate change...
@@KayAwoooodumb waiter?
It's a cool house.
The Planning Regulators make for heartache and stress for people, sometimes correctly but many times just extreme pettiness rears its ugly head.
Agreed. I'm living with that kind of stress...ugh

12:00 - I think Cara was also a contestant on I Literally Just Told You. Either way, I am so thrilled to see her build finished well!
All great, but love the Malt house
2nd house, amazing!
25 years!! 🎉
Love this show and love Kevin McCloud. He is the best.
The last couple is the truth of it. It’s not just about the place,or the design, it’s about the people.
I like this house too.

No kidding... yet look at all the silly comments. This house wrecked the neighbourhood and will kill hundreds of birds.
Nothing awful about it, it's seriously cool and turned out beautifully. Would be a boring world if everyone live in a tiny old cottage.

true, i felt that with the 2nd couple. I think the house looking more coperate than intimate umplified the feeling

The question is how did it get past building control.
The coast guard house had sliding glass doors on 2 levels... That went out to nothing! No balcony. Nothing
And that passed planning and safety?!
Well done to everyone build, just amazing and brave. Best comment, I agree with her, magic
Naming their kid tiger 🤦♂️
Would much rather see new episodes than rehashing the past.
Where did Kevin color his hair?
why not buy land close and not next to house and it would maybe cost less ? you dont have to do demolition
am i buggin or bro put s doors on the crib ?
Some of these houses are just ego driven. Shallow and soulless. Like their owners.
You sound like a load of fun.
@ I’m not and don’t ever suggest such a thing again.
Why do people need such huge houses? It’s very wasteful in a world with a climate crisis and frankly not necessary.
I guess it’s because they have the money and there’s nothing wrong with that .
That’s nothing compared to the 10,000 square-foot plus homes of America.

This entire thing is AI garbage...
Whatever happened to simple NEED as opposed to conspicuous GREED. So unnecessary. I vomitl
Canada has capitalized on the falls. The US has not.
Why is number one 300k and number 2 700?
Is this a British show…. wf is going on???

@@GeorgeRow Think the comment was more about the diversity of the people
Most of these men will lose the house at the time of divorce. These women will live in these houses with new boyfriends and husbands
😂😂😂I agree with her 😂😂😂 immortal words😂😂😂
They can afford that
