I’ve hit all the classic pompano shore spots in Tampa. LOTS of jigging hours. Never even got one keeper yet. Stopped going after them after a couple years. Glad to see someone’s getting a couple now & then

The #1 rule for catching pompano is to fish an area where pompano are present. The Clearwater Pass seawall is a good spot to locate them.

Ponce inlet is the closest jetty to you that you can catch some pompano on the Jig they are going to start biting there soon.

I don't use that ring I go through the jig and the teaser if yours comes with the ring just tie on the ring

Yeah I was there trying to get some pompano in the pass.
I was fishing right next to you lol. I just was catching small trout, that day was tough.
I was fishing there about 2am . Chest deep in the water, line tossed out middle of the deep drop; live pin fish....I saw a shadow coming towards me a shadow of a big truck over the bridge I thought...until bristled hairs scrubbed my thighs like sandpaper on a how to On this old House. Eye contact was made with this thousand pound manatee; my eyes say I just pissed my pants his or hers lol

My last pompano was at Tierra Verde Bridge
11 inch and more more then enough to keep why doyou worry about and a half or quater after 11
I don't like to keep fish on a DOT has to be half inch or 1 inch bigger for me to keep

I am starting to lose hope, using same technique and haven’t caught a fish in over a month.
You have to go in specific places each time of the year right now they're being catching them on bridges

It is now a good time to catch. Early in the morning, 2 hours prior and after tide changes (incoming tide preferred), calm weather condition (7 mph wind speed or less). Always make sure your jig stays bottom or you will catch lady and Spanish mackerel.
