If you're looking to buy your first drum set, you don't need to worry about much of anything except cost. NOBODY uses their first drum set to gig or record. Buy something that you won't mind throwing away later, if drumming just isn't for you. Keep an eye on your local craigslist for cheap kits. There's almost always a cheap 5 piece with a ride, crash and hihats available for under $200. Will a kit like that be junk and sound terrible? Most likely, but your just learning so it doesn't matter. If you love drumming, you can spend a ridiculous amount of money on your next kits. If you hate it, you're only out a couple hundred bucks and you can still tell random people at a bar 20 years later that, "I used to have a drum set when I was younger."
Sweetwaters the way to go if i dont go to north country music store first. Great video, man!
