Thanks for the information. Someone I know went through the training and doing well so far and I'm thinking of it also. I live in South Wales, would you know about any course around Cardiff? Also, do you need to be self-employed or you can work for a company?
Hey @maaberr25, You're welcome! If you are talking about the Crane Operator course, we would be the closest to you! You do have some good options around Norwich (2nd closest). However if you were staying away, because we do our courses 1-1 we can compress them in to 5 days training (as in 5 nights away) instead of the 10 that most other training providers offer. Why don't you give us a call on 0208 135 7862 so we can help you further!
Very useful. I'm writing a blog post about this subject, so I have a question about the CSCS point you made. Being a crane operator myself, I always thought the CSCS card came mandatory as part of the training. In fact, we have to do the touchscreen test as part of the module to renew our license. I'm wondering if it's because all the sites we work on are large contractors, so they request these cards.
Hey @CCcranelife, thanks for your comment, let me just say I'm also a fan of your videos! Very helpful also! I'm trying to fully understand your question here. So yes absolutely you will do the Health and Safety touch screen test everytime you renew your CPCS card if the last one you did is over 2 years old. Doing the touch screen test does allow you to claim a provisional 6 month temporary CSCS card which can be used for light sight duties such as labouring but is very separate to the CPCS card scheme. I feel I might not have fully answered your question though so feel free to give me a call on 0208 135 7862 :)
Hi Tim, i am a German mobile crane operator with an crane licens what I got direkt from Liebherr in Ehingen. Is it positive for me as an german citizen to become a crane operator in the UK? Do I need to do the scs course as well or is my experience and driver licens enough?
Hi, thanks for getting in touch! So it's definitely possible for you to do the course to get certified. The UK predominately accepts the CPCS/NPORS scheme and would be unlikely to recognise any foreign qualifications. You would need a CPCS/NPORS certification to prove your competency. We may be able to offer an experienced worker course at a discounted price however. Call 0208 135 7862 if you would like further information!
I have booked a slinger course but i want to do crane operator course and only reason i went for slinger is because im worried i wont find work being new. I want to change the course. Im based in Fareham. Any advice? Is it worth going straight for the crane operator?
Really good question Mark! I think it comes down to what do you really want to do? If becoming an operator is the goal I would start there! You can always use our free employment boot camp to help you get into work as well. Visit www.lifttecacademy.co.uk and click speak to an advisor and we will send you over the details!
Hi Billy, yes absolutely we run the tower crane course. We do ours in a 1-1 format so you don't have to share your time on the crane with other candidates. If that wasn't enough, we're also the cheapest tower crane operator course coming in at £2799 including VAT. Please give us a call for more info on 0208 135 7862.
