  • This is a question I have gotten from a lot of people. So I guess there is a demand for this kind of video. Also, let's do a box opening of the Dragon shield double inner sleeve full edge protection.

      The truth is triple sleeve is probably going to cause more friction on the surface of your card causing the your cards to fade out little by little over time. Think about it. Plastic pushing on plastic in different directions with your card underneath is not healthy for a cards longivety. Also I hope your plastic is uv protected, because light will fade ink, there's a reason expensive fine art isn't displayed under regular lights.

    Using the same perfect fit, when I insert the card, I'll have the flap at the bottom front of the card, and then slide the flap up into the backside. Personally, I wouldn't place the flap in the front. My only issue with triple sleeving is that there isn't a deck box(unless custom made) to fit a triple sleeved edh deck in 1 single column all nice and snug, wich bothers me the most. Thanks for sharing, very interesting topic for collectors.

    I can't believe when I see people putting their beverages right next to decks filled to the brim with very valuable collector cards. I have seen decks getting destroyed during very happy moments with lots of gesticulation.. it turned awkward and sad very fast.
    I don't want to see that happening again, so multisleeve + capped bottles or side tables to put the drinks on is a good habit.

  • @MrTing12
    @MrTing12 5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    So quick question, when placing the Chrome Mox into the sleeve you placed the fold tab to the front of the card ( @ 8:34 ). Why did you do that? Doing so adds one extra layer of plastic. You could have slid it to the back face of the card, this would cut the film level down by 25%. Otherwise, great advice. No reason to lose a card to that capillary action that happens when your buddy drops his glass of water on the table.

    I use the Dragon Shield Perfect Fits and once you get used to the way of putting them in they are really nice. Especially for my expensive cards that I switch between decks more often.
    Also I insert my cards upside down facing the other way when putting them into the Perfect Fits so then you can’t see the extra flap sitting in front of the card, 1 less layer thats sitting in front of the card.

  • @lanesteele240
    @lanesteele240 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Those dragons inners that fold and any outer should be enough. The taller your deck, the higher possibility of the deck falling out of your hand. This may cause you to grab the falling cards and bending them

  • @DoubleBeast
    @DoubleBeast 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Caution: Gloves reduce tactile feedback.
    This can lead you to accidentally mishandling your cards, especially if your gloves are not thin and a tight fit. Nothing beats clean & dry bare hands with cut fingernails.
    When applying a tight inner sleeve, you'll find that the corners of the sleeve are very tight make it hard to fit a card inside. I have a simple trick to slightly stretch it so that its edges don't accidentally cut your card.
    Put your finger inside the sleeve with the flat surface of your nail facing a corner of the sleeve. With your other hand, press the corner edge down against your flat fingernail to flatten out the sleeve's corner, and repeat for the other side. This'll stretch out tight sleeves just enough to allow your cards to fit inside better.

    I only triple sleeve my commanders so if it is returned to my deck or hand, I can remove the outer sleeve and my commander will be double sleeved like the rest of my cards. 😃 The dragon shield sealable sleeves and most card outer sleeves will protect your cards well!

  • @SageOfStone
    @SageOfStone 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two layers creates a full seal. I had a friend drop his Gatorade on my double sleeved deck once. The entire deck was completely soaked, but after removing the sleeves no cards were damaged at all. The only case I could conceive of triple sleeve coming in handy (in terms of protection) is if your deck actually gets submerged in water for a period of time. At that point I'd just invest in an air tight deck box for full protection. Something like your flip top would let water in, but there are some easily obtained boxes that slide closed and you can feel the air being pushed out.
    Of course there are other reasons to triple sleeve if you want, which you went into, but if you're only interested in the protection factor then double sleeved is as far as you realistically need to go.

    When I build a commander deck I don't take out lands or other cards for another or new commander deck. I also have to use different color sleeves. Black sleeve is the widely used color, so I don't want my card mixed and forgot about it. Especially opponents spells that enchants your spells. You also gave me an idea on the binder. Sleeve them all up and ready to go. Triple sleeve is good. Except I got small hands.

    Unfortunately, I can only used perfect fits with a darkened side because I make proxies out of the white backing cards that come with promo packs, and light pierces right through them (the only other solution is to use nothing but plain black mat sleeves). This limits my options to a some of the products with a lower quality control. Hopefully these fold-over ones will block enough light that you can't see them through the sleeve, because I'd like to have some options that better fight the dust getting in my sleeves.

By the way, I’m pretty sure the residue left on your single sleeved cards is dried dead skin cells/particles and not actually fat. If you ever do that you streach the binder so really think about it before you do it. I don't have a problem with that and I am not going back. But you won't bale able to have none tripple sleeved cards in there afterwards.

    we were just talking about triple sleeving in your discord group a while ago.. haha..
    **kmc inner sleeve is way better than dragons.. for normal shields dragon shield is best, though i also recommend KMC mattes.. and oddly, outerguard Z is the best outer sleeve.. you can literally use it as a weapon because it is so sturdy, but so smooth..

    Unless it’s a really expensive and valuable deck, this is just unnecessary. I watched tolarian professor submerge double sleeved card entirely under water and nothing happened to them. This would require for every deck you buy, you also have to spend $10 on inners, $10 on dragon shield and however much the third sleeve pack would be prob another $10. So $30 per commander deck just on sleeping. That’s not even worth the value of most cards in a regular deck. So this is only good for extremely valuable decks like maybe decks worth $500+ otherwise double sleeving is perfectly fine

    So there’s an issue I have with double sleeving that must be ridiculously annoying with triple and that’s air in the sleeves at first, how do you compress the deck to not be full of air?

    • @peterhusen3789
      @peterhusen3789 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Either put something heavy on top or grab the cards at the bottom between your thumb and 1 or 2 other fingers, then with the other hand squeeze and slowly move up as though you are emptying a tube of toothpaste.

    • @purpleganja2
      @purpleganja2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like to compress the cards in a box by adding more and more until its super tight and let them rest for days/weeks. It works to flatten bended foils too.
      Jut make sure that the last bunch of cards that you insert to make it very tight are bad worthless cards and make sure you don't slide them touching valuable cards so that none gets pushed down and bended under the others.

    5:55 Coffee? That makes me wonder: Has the Professor from Tolarian Community College ever done a heat test on any sleeves to check when they start melting? 😁 Also, Masterpieces are more fragile than regular cards - and that's what WotC call "premium cards"... 🤦‍♂️

    It’s good you feel better about how you sleeve your deck, but it’s almost completely pointless to go beyond double sleeve.
    Anything thatwill ruin your card double sleeved will almost definitely ruin your card triple sleeved as well. It just makes who ever does it look like a douche.
