Hello. Watching you from up north in Canada where we are having a very warm autumn so far. Thanks to you, I now have a few Greenstalk planters full of greens. You have inspired me. Blessings to you.

Why hello there. 😃 I am so glad for your warm autumn and hope your greens last for quite a while. I know your body will love you for growing them! I hear you all get really cold winters so not sure if they can withstand the temps with the frost covers. I got down to a real feel of -8 last year and the lettuce didn't survive but the other greens did. Do you mind sharing what kind of greens you are growing? Lolly❤️

Hello Lolly. I am near Montréal, Québec, in zone 5B, which is almost the warmest zone for Canada. There are Canadians living in zones 4, 3, 2 and 1. But even so, you are right in saying that most greens wll not survive winter in my backyard, except for a few of them, if I use some form of protection like row covers. The one that will survive without protection is kale. In spring, when snow melts, kale will look dead, but if you leave it alone, green shoots will soon emerge from the ground. To answer your question, in my Greenstalk planters, I have curly kale, collards, mustard Komatsuna Tendergreen, spinach, and several kinds of lettuce like Buttercrunch, Reine des glaces, Rouge d’hiver (sorry, I only know the French names). I used to grow only in a few raised beds, mostly tomatoes and cucumbers. But this year, I stumbled upon your channel and you inspired me. I found a store that is a Greenstalk distributor in Canada, and I gradually ordered planters. I now have five. It has been a game changer. Direct seeding has not been very succesful for me, don’t know why. Temperature? Insects? Or just me not very good at managing the watering? Drowning my seeds? On the other hand, transplanting seedlings in my Greenstalks works marvels. Anyway, I want to thank you again for being such an inspiration. Sending you positive thoughts. Have a great day Lolly.@@morninggloryfarmstead

First of all thank you for kind words. ❤️
Wow! Zone 1! I can't imagine how short and cold that growing season must be. I love that you leave the kale and it makes a come back. You have 5 planters!🥳 That is amazing. I'm glad you found a GreenStalk distributor. I think all varieties you are growing is wonderful. I have also grown the Rouge d'hiver but I had not heard of the Reine des glaces. I will have to look that one up. I'm so glad you are able to transfer seedlings successfully!🥰 There are a lot of people who prefer that anyway. I have just always grown from seed except for potatoes and strawberries. I hope you have a beautiful day today and thanks for sharing! Lolly❤️

I’m glad you found out that the radon fan is bad so you don’t have prolonged exposure. I do understand how it feels like everything happens at once. I’ve got a couple minor issues brewing. It’s always something. I hope the radon fan replacement is quick and not too expensive. Still hot here but in a week or so we’re supposed to see a day with high in the 70s 🍂🍁🍂
I hope you have a great weekend!
