Jeff, I actually think your interjections bring something interesting to these interviews and sets your channel apart. It's like listening to a real conversation vs an interview. You really get people to open up and these conversations are important. I'm kind of in the same boat as you...I got out in 2017 and subs helped me turn my life around. Nowadays with what's out there, I doubt they would help much at all. Crazy to think that this is now considered an 'old school' treatment protocol. That terrifies me and motivates me to stay away. It's a whole different landscape. Please keep this going because the awareness and education are invaluable.
Congrats on getting yourself out of there. Subs are an amazing thing to get your life back. And thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate the support
Thank you, Jeff, for being so kind and different from the other TH-camrs out there. I spent some time in Kensington, and luckily, I'm out for good. Keep being yourself, and I'll support your channel in any way that I am able to.

Some ppl on the streets are there by choise, this guy just lost it all.

Jeff, I’m a new follower making my way through your back catalog. I was just about to commend Jim’s sense of humor (git ‘er done!) and he goes into his suicide attempt story. And then it just keeps getting worse. Oof! What a rich story. He seems to appreciate the chance to talk though. Thank you for listening, and for letting us hear these people’s stories.
I found the key to sobriety is to keep trying. You may relapse, that sucks, but just keep trying. There are studies that say if you keep trying, it will eventually work. AA &NA are not for everyone or 4 me. Suboxone helps me. About 3 years sober, I stopped counting.
Suboxone is an amazing medicine when used properly. I know a couple people in life that have been on subs for over a decade now with no plans of getting off. They are living great lives. It’s about quality of life
Great channel. Interviewer connected well with the interviewees. You can see the interviewees are more forthcoming and relax in this channel as opposed to the other channels on Kensington. The older channels are stale and this channel is a breath of fresh air. Love it.

Someone needs to help him write his life story and get it published. He has a lot to share with the public. This would bring him the income he needs to survive. But truly, Jim, there is no normal life. All of our life stories are different. This is what makes yours interesting to the rest of us. I never had a normal life because my parents were not able to be parents to us due to their alcoholism. My father abandoned us when I was about eight. My heart was broken by that. We had a house fire and lost everything right around that time. My brother died of a heroin overdose around 2006. My disabled husband is a coma survivor. I have my own tragic stories of addiction and losing everything. I nearly lost my little sister when we were growing up due to a car accident that almost killed her. (Someone hit her while she was delivering newpapers on her bicycle.) I could go on and on about my family members lost to alcoholism and drugs. But I started a TH-cam channel to share what God has done to my life by giving me Victory over sin. We cannot focus on the abnormal things that happen to us because sometimes God gives these to us to help others understand how hard life can be. But those of us who hope in God never give up and we celebrate life each and every day because it is a most precious gift. Thank you for sharing your story. Right now we are working on my husband's story of how God raised him up out of a 4 month long coma and gave him another chance at life. And even though he is disabled, you will see him smiling on most all of his videos. Because he has learned that the gift of life is priceless. Stay strong, we will keep you in our prayers. Leave a comment on our channel if you get a fundraiser going and we will definitely contribute to it. Blessings to all in the name of Jesus Christ. Our channel name is: Toni Gathman on TH-cam. You're doing such an awesome job Jeff! And you're not asking these scripted set of questions that a lot of interviewers use. A person may have just described 1 of the most horrific events of their lives & then the interviewer jumps to, what is your favorite color, food, zodiac sign, etc. Not saying that's a bad thing, especially if it's to help the person go to a positive thought. It's just the way they don't acknowledge what the person just shared & now they're walking around with a huge open wound after describing something painful with no closure. It sometimes feels like the interviewer just wants to get through their list of questions & close the interview. But then again it's not like their professional clinicians & it's not technically a therapy session. I don't know, lol, just my thoughts. Keep doing what you're doing & be safe out there.

With all the abandoned factories in the area, you'd think that some social services agency that deals with the addicted would turn one into apartments, a medical screening facility, and a supervised injection site. While this wouldn't address all the problems in the area it would get the addicted inside a facility that could address their most pressing issues and give those who really want to stop a place to begin that process. What's been going on down at K&A helps no one and is unsustainable.

@@Jeffshighonlife glad to hear this, I was shocked when I looked the info up and it said can also cause death if not taken care of.. Thank you for letting me know he is doing OK 👍
@@Jeffshighonlife true. Instead of taking control over the scrips they just shut them off…. There are people who legit need pain meds. I’m one of them. But instead of giving me the 20 Vicodin a month they put me on 52 suboxsone smh . Subs are stronger then Vicodin… now I did have a problem years ago with H
I get why they put you on subs if you were open about your history with H. It was smart to disclose that but you are right people do need pain management have a better quality of life.
He seems such a nice guy & wise words (apart from the religious side of it as I dont go in for all that stuff, imo god doesn't help people get clean, the addict does it all by themselves. Don't give credit to getting over the hardest fight of your life to an invisible made up entity, give yourself the credit as you did it yourself!!) The type of judgemental people who walk past the homeless or addicts on the street with a sneer on their faces, looking down on them, really need to sit down & speak to some of those suffering when that person has a moment of sobriety & they will quickly realise that a very high percentage are extremely intelligent, much more so than if you were to take an average IQ of the general public. I've spent a lot of time in a fair few residential rehabs, with 18 months been the longest stint & to start with I was surprised by the high number of very intelligent, highly driven people. That surprise didn't last long as time went by though, it seemed to be the norm rather than the exception. I've also spoken quite a few times to a Dr whose a family friend & who has also done a lot of research into addiction/ causes/ outcomes of the illness & she told me that if you took an average group of say 10 addicts & 10 non addicts, the addicts would have the highest average IQ amongst them. Also when people say its a lack of willpower & lack of drive that stops addicts from getting sober, I'd say to them that it takes a hell of a lot of willpower & drive to maintain an addiction & if we put that same willpower, commitment & drive into employment, most addicts would, once clean & sober, have pretty high flying careers (you can only live as a functioning addict for so long before it all comes crashing down, I know this from experience).
I promise on everything I love I haven’t. I watched one of Amber’s a long time ago and it made me sick. I’ll be honest i ignored this shit up until a month ago

Hey Jim have you been praying those prayers I gave you I gave them to you about a month ago you were intrigued about the prayers I got to tell you the Lord removed all drugs for my life and he can do it for you too all you have to do is say most high God if you can hear me show me that you can hear me and show me that you sent your son Jesus to die on the cross for my sin and show me that you can clean me up off these drugs without me going to the world to get help in Jesus name amen

@@ludalove4033where has he gone he still in Philadelphia ?😮
Hence another problem with these dr. I bet if they hadn’t shut him off he probably would’ve never done dope… it’s ridiculous
So many heroin addicts started using this way it’s so sad
@@Jeffshighonlife true. Instead of taking control over the scrips they just shut them off…. There are people who legit need pain meds. I’m one of them. But instead of giving me the 20 Vicodin a month they put me on 52 suboxsone smh . Subs are stronger then Vicodin… now I did have a problem years ago with H
I get why they put you on subs if you were open about your history with H. It was smart to disclose that but you are right people do need pain management have a better quality of life.
@@Jeffshighonlife but I had the pill under control
He seems such a nice guy & wise words (apart from the religious side of it as I dont go in for all that stuff, imo god doesn't help people get clean, the addict does it all by themselves. Don't give credit to getting over the hardest fight of your life to an invisible made up entity, give yourself the credit as you did it yourself!!)
The type of judgemental people who walk past the homeless or addicts on the street with a sneer on their faces, looking down on them, really need to sit down & speak to some of those suffering when that person has a moment of sobriety & they will quickly realise that a very high percentage are extremely intelligent, much more so than if you were to take an average IQ of the general public.
It is sinful what doctors do to folks that have actual pain, shame on the American Medical Association. & their co- torturer's.
Almost every heroin addict starts with legal pain pills. It’s sad
