Barely. Luckily the mexican army was running practice drills nearby and found us. They brought us back to their camp on four wheelers and gave us water and food. :P
Let assume the rocks weighed 25 kg. You should lift it 3 times therefore , The amount energy needed : n x m x g × h 3 x 25 kg x 9.81 m/s2 x 4 ft 3 x 25 kg x 9.81 m/s2 x 1.2 m = 882.9 joules . And ive researched that a single punch of professional boxer is around 1000 joules. Conclusion : use mike tyson instead.
Well technically key to opening the coconut is to apply the right amount of pressure at the right point to weaken the fibres , while that might take 882.9 joules of energy, A professional boxer would not be able to apply great pressure on the rock as it it be a blunt force and can damage your bones. Hitting the nut repeatedly would also require a great amount of energy so it would technically take a man with punches a lot of tries thus spending a lot of energy.
I usually use the sharp edge to dig the hole at the mouth where the bud will go through so it is very easy to make a hole, use the straw to drink the juice before crack to open. Then you can drink the whole juice. Enjoy your video very much! Thank you for sharing.
if you are smart enough, you see it takes more energy to smash them with rocks for hours, and most of the time, coconuts get cracked by one hit just like he shows is 4:25
As a boy in Hawaii, my uncle taught me how to open a coconut without tools. A small boy would not be able to lift that huge rock to drop on the coconut, but that's okay. If you lack the strength, all you need to do is keep banging the pointy end of the coconut on a hard surface like a big flat rock, or concrete. It might take one or two minutes, but consistent pounding with less strength will do the same job as a few big blows. Once the coconut is peeled, you can crack it the way that this man shows, or hold it in your hand upright, and hit it with a smooth river stone in the same place several times. Again, if you don't have the strength, repeated taps will crack it. Plus, there's more control, so you're less likely to spill all the water by busting it open suddenly.
I'm not aware of any law against doing that, and beaches are generally public in Hawaii. However, since the 70's or so, when a baby was killed by a falling coconut, the Parks and Rec department has been removing coconuts from trees while still in the tiny stage, at the nice beaches.

A far more efficient way using less strength and energy is to impale the coconut onto a spear or sharp pointed stick, then twist the coconut to expose the husk. That's how the Hawaiians and Samoans do it. The impact will cause the husk to split and you can husk the rest off quite easily. Cracking between the "eyes"is how to open the inner nut but you can do it by tapping a stone along that marker line. Less work and less spillage. Green coconuts that have little or sweet water in them can be eaten. The coconut flesh is so soft, like a pudding that it's referred to as, spoon coconut. It's sweet, oily and tastes just like haupia, coconut pudding. Nice video, nice share. King of Random is unique and so interesting. If you haven't subbed, you should consider it.
i think that home builders should consider studying the coconut, to possibly increase the home insulation standards because those coconuts are specifically designed to keep the suns heat from evaporating the trees precious water supply
