Very true. The cars nowadays handle too well and the aero package is garbage. Some guy had an article on the shocks they run and how much better they make the cars. I saw a dirt race last weekend (hadn't been in a while) and boy was that a blast! Even the 4cylinder junk cars had a good race. These cars in Nascar are just too perfect.
Pascal Herbig they should be able to take the grass off and keep the warm up lane or move it and make more room for a second groove to help nascar and Indycar pre 1993. For safety the safer barrier should help with impacts that made IMS put them in after some nasty wrecks in 1992.
Track changes at IMS shortly after this test are part of the reason - they did get some decent racing here by the mid 2000s but then the COT came along and they lost all that progress
Sucks Davey never got to race the Brickyard 400, but I will tell you what, he would have had a good car as Ernie Irvan was a contender for the Brickyard in 1994 and he had the fastest car next to Jeff Gordon that day.
Now NASCAR can’t get over like 60k at INDY now. In fact a lot of people say that the money from these early races Tony George was able to Bankroll his IRL.

It's the apron. They should have never replaced the apron with the warmup lane.

I didn't get to this session, but I did make the one in June or August of 1993 and was the coolest thing in the world to a 5 year old me.
The one and only time we see the stock cars on the pre-93 reconfig.

Edited out the wreck-John Andretti spun and collected several cars. I was there and some cars came back in the pits all tore up.
I think it is sad that NASCAR waited until 1994 to race at the Brickyard, and that its most legendary drivers never had a chance to race at Indy.
