8 points in 20 seconds to get within 2. And then win the game in OT? And on the road. Unreal. I hated Jason Williams with everything inside of me back then. He was truly great. One of the best college basketball players ever. I hate it that he got hurt in that accident before his pro career ever really got started. Mad respect to that guy.

He had a triple-double against the NJ Nets in his rookie season. Maryland never recovered from this game. They choked away thier chance here and they choked away the game in Atlanta and the really choked away the game in the Final 4. Yeah they won it all in 2002, but who cares? They sucked ever since 2002-03 and Duke owned them forever after. Duke ran the Terps out of the ACC and now they will be stuck in a 3rd tier conference losing to such scrub teams as Iowa and Minnesota. Jason Williams is in the Hall of Fame for college basektball and absolutly owned Maryland. Gary Williams quit coaching because he couldn't compete with Duke and his idiot fan base would be happy going 2-30 every season if they beat Duke twice, but they couldn't compete with Duke on the court and Gary quit and the Terps quit the ACC. Class vs. Chumps here. Jason Williams is a hero.

if the same talent pool would stop going to the same school such as Duke, UCONN, Kentucky, etc.....those teams wouldn't be this good at all. Almost not fair to have NBA players on a college team. Scouting has nothing to do with it. They just say hey!, let's go to Duke they always have great players. It's a never ending cycle. Spoiled Teams.

No, they absolutely never recovered from this. All they did was go to the Final Four later that season and then win the national championship the next. God only knows what Maryland might have done back then if they just hadn't let the best team in the country that season come back from 10 down against them in a regular-season game.

+Pyle Gomer Yea, we can read that you said "who gives a fuck", but what makes your word gospel? Haha, and what's your rationale for simply discounting a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP? You say it doesn't matter because it fucks with your biased narrative, plain and simple. It DOES matter - no matter how much you may want to think that "your team" somehow cursed the Terps. Ridiculous, ignorant commentary. And what kinda name is Pyle anyway?

Duke point guards are blessed in college and cursed in the NBA. Jay Williams and Bobby Hurley could have been so good, but injuries f-d it all up.

Wow, a lot of good NBA players on the court at once, I counted at least 8, not sure if Mouton made it or not. Anyway, I always take for granted what great caliber of basketball is played on any given night at the college level. Got to watch this live!

Jason Williams is the best college basketball player I've ever seen. It's an absolute tragedy that we never got to see him play in the NBA, because we would be calling Chris Paul the second coming of Jay Williams.

Im a UNC fan, so by association I hate Dook, but I must say, this Duke team was great and this comeback was just awesome. It almost reminds me of UNC's comeback against Duke in '74. Imagine if UNC was this good back in 01. Wouldve been a hell of a game. Go Heels!

sheesh... I love this team too, but I believe the 91-92 & 85-86 teams were the greatest under K. This team still has greatness lingering around... coaches, NBA players, game analysts... you name it... this (still) is a wonderful group.

Play that has been forgotten in this game, Maryland's last shot in the 1st half is no good. However, the shot didn't hit the rim and instead of Maryland running the clock to halftime, Duke got the ball with 1.4 seconds. Jason Williams hits a layup at the buzzer. It may or may not been a difference maker in this game.

It's because Duke was down 10 and needed 3-pointers. Everyone on the floor for Duke could hit a 3, and Battier and Dunleavy provided size as well. It has nothing to do with Boozer not being up to par.
