Hey guys! This is our first just jewelry advent calendar! I am really curious what you guys think about this one! Technically the value is there BUT I wonder if these items feel a little extra pricey to you as well? The quality didn't feel great and for $100 I feel like we got a lot of string! Let me know what you guys think! Love ya💖
I used to be obsessed with this brand. There main thing is using recycled material like plastics that have been taken from the ocean, and make jewelry out of it. I think it's a fair price, should be going to a good cause as well.
I am a high school teacher and the girls LOVE pura vida, a few of them got the box and were obessed with it. It is crazy expensive for colored floss, but the trends... It feels like when I was in high school in 2007 and I loved a beached theme necklace.
Yes! Gives me the friendship bracelet vibes mixed with the beachy shells and round ceramic bead necklaces everybody came back from vacation wearing in middle and high school. I had them too but bought them from the pac sun at my local mall just cause I loved them.😆Not even gonna lie, I took my first beach trip since I was a child in 2023 and I came home with a shell bracelet and necklace as well as a wave ring similar to the toe ring in the box and I'm 34! 😂😂 AND.. I brought my bff since the 6th grade some friendship bracelets too. 🤣 I just couldn't help myself. 🤣 I also got my first airbrushed name T-shirt too which I was super excited about! Which has nothing to do with this video I'm just still so excited about it. 😆
@@ashleytriana5984 i might be wrong but i also think they are in Costa Rica and pay artisans from different countries in south america to create products
💯 FR.... I could make comparable stuff to the jewelry in this calendar in an afternoon using well less than $20 worth of materials from my head crafting stash.😁😄
Pura Vida Bracelets are $5-$45 each (set) most of their offerings support various charities. It started with a couple of guys making bracelets to support their family and blew up from there. "Pura Vida" is the laid back Costa Rican vibe where they originate from. They're waxy since beach/surf life can be hard on jewelry. I wore mine for years and they held up great.
I just went ape on their 80% off sale. $3-$5/piece. The quality is outstanding. The jewelry is made by artisans and support dozens of charities. I love Pura Vida. The enamel pieces are fabulous. Definitely not just for teens, if you look past the string bracelets. Speaking of the string bracelets, the string isn't just string. I'm super hard on jewelry. These are pretty tough. Time will tell, but for the price, I'm thrilled.
I love Pura Vida a good amount of their bracelets also support endangered wildlife and wildlife rehabilitation. They also support animal shelters and they are hand made. I first discovered thier brand at the Atl zoo and bought a sloth Pura Vida bracelet to support my favorite animal since the proceeds go to them. I gifted a few of the different bracelets to some of my international friends as well and they liked the simplicity of them and the causes that the bracelets helped support. I also have a sweet rose gold butterfly ring that was given as a suprise for my blind ring purchase that I wear fairly often and it's doesn't tarnish .
Pura Vida is SUPPOSED TO BE (idk if this still holds true today) a company based in Costa Rica (pura vida - or pure life - is the slogan of Costa Rica) that enlist local artisans (and at one point specifically women’s co-ops) so proceeds from each bracelet would go back to the local economy (to excuse the higher price on what is essentially a friendship bracelet). They were big on fundraising/philanthropy where you could design your own color way for an event and buy a bulk set from them to sell for your organization. They also used to have proceed collabs with pretty much every terminal and/or chronic and/or childhood illness and/or cancer research society (if there’s a ribbon for if there was a bracelet) plus a ton of wildlife conservation and ecological orgs that they’d give back to (they still do some of these esp the dolphin and sea turtles) This is all info from a decade+ ago though so things have more than likely changed as they grew as a brand but yeah that was their selling point/a lot of their charity work Edit: spelling (my autocorrect does not like the brand name pura vida apparently)
I was just wondering if I’d made up the philanthropy in my head 😂 I bought some stuff from them a decade ago and wore them briefly, but ended up moving on fairly quickly.
I'll admit they are overpriced, but I love my PuraVida bracelets. My niece lives a nomadic lifestyle and we have a set of matching bracelets. I gave hers to her before I knew just how long they last. I told her that when it fell off, it was a sign to come home and visit. Good thing she comes back more often, because the pair of them are still going strong after years of daily wear!
I stopped repping for them a few years back, but I still have my bracelets and theyve held up really well. Even so, its still pretty pricey for a few bracelets, in my opinion.
I am a high school and adjunct college professor and many girls love this brand. I have hears really good things about the company and their customer sevice. But I agree rhat it seems very expensive. I am 49 and we made the friendship bracelets in the 80s too.
At this point i am not reading the titles. I just love having your voice in the background when i do my everyday stuff. your energy and positivity is the highlight of my day
The boys snuggly tucked under a blanket!!!😍 My nephew is a 2.5 yr old dachshund and he loves being cosy under a blanket, too. As for the calendar, the only items that struck me as really cute were the two pairs of earrings, which aren't much use to you right now, alas! Still fun to watch.
They're a good brand. I bought earrings on poshmark and they broke as soon as I got them. Even though I didn't buy them directly they still sent me a replacement. Fantastic customer service.
@@Alexandria-Ryanthe Saturn earrings! Those are the ones I got! They're silver and they're my favorite but not the best quality because the replacement ones also broke but I took the good one from the original set and the good one from the replacement set and they create my favorite earrings.
Pura Vida can be pricey, a portion of each bracelet or other product sold helps provide a fulltime job to artisans worldwide. They originated in Costa Rica so definitely have a beachy feel .....they are super popular around shore/ beach towns. I love them.
the little bracelet with like 5 or 6 identical seashells that you had trouble with tightening is identical to the ones you can find in Greece at any tourist store. Literally less than a dollar each or maybe 2 dollars if you're pushing it. 😭
I love advent calendar season! I would seriously watch these all year long and I get so excited each time I get a notification for one of your videos! 🎉
Happy New Years Alexandria! We used call little adjustable rings like that, Dentist Rings, because that's what the dentists had as one of the choices of treats available for after your appointment.
When I was in highschool in the 2010s, my friends and I loved pura vida bracelets! I would literally wear them for months at a time and they still look basically the same! I still have them and wear them from time to time!
The bracelets are usually between $7-$15 a piece and often have a cause they associated with them that they donate to. I have one that is Yellow and white and it was for Suicide Awareness. Also the waxiness is for salt water & sweat etc it's surfer thing.
I was with them until they gave us the sticker. Please, any companies out there, it is NEVER OK to make a STICKER a FULL DAY in a $100 advent calendar!!😠
😂😂😂 I have never laughed so hard at an advent calendar unboxing. You transported me to childhood with the friend bracelet comparison, got me crying with the Cinderella slipper line and had me searching for all videos with DJ Khaled saying jewelry. Congrats, I'm a longtime watcher, now a lifetime fan! 🎉
I became a rep for them when I was in college. They are a really good company and treat their customers really well. I still have a lot of my Pura Vida jewelry. My discount code still works after like 10 years lol. All metal is allergy safe in their jewelry :)
@@Alexandria-Ryan They definitely are a boho/VSCO-girl type vibe. They support local artisans and give back a lot to the community. They are also allergy/nickel-free too :) I'm very allergic to nickel, so that's one of the first things I check for. Thanks for another great unboxing! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your husband and your adorable dogs!
Well this was a very disappointing calendar. I know they need to make money but that seems like a big mark up on their items! I wouldn’t pay $147 for this stuff. I might pay $40. Love your videos Alexandria and Happy New Year 🎉 ❤
I have multiple stuff from them! They are pricey but they do come out with sales often! I have multiple ear piercings and I love buying their earrings because they are allergy free and they hold up perfectly well under water! (I sleep and shower with them on) plus the company is pretty awesome too!
I love cheap costume jewelry, but this calendar would have been a huge disappointment to me. I can buy jewelry that at least looks fancier for a lot cheaper. That said, this definitely reads like it’s for a teen, but it would have been too expensive to me when I was that young. I can see them having an audience in the tiktok community though. But those stickers… They just don’t belong in an advent calendar that’s that pricey, especially not the one that was a whole day. It’s not as bad to include with one of the items, but on its own, no way. Still, I really enjoyed seeing a different kind of calendar. 😃
I loved pura vida back in 2020. I love the idea behind their products. On their website a lot of them help out with water and land animals. Especially ones going extinct. They are pricey but I had the month subscription and got 4-5 bracelets
Pura Vida has killer marketing. They are also a B-Corp certified, so part of the reason for the high price is due to paying their employees a livable wage. It's a simple product, not really my style but you get what you pay for.
I said it before and I will gladly say it again: You are so funny! 😂 I enjoy your videos so much❤ usually only funny dog compilations make me laugh, but you slay it everytime! Thank you so much for brightening my days❤ best wishes from Austria, Europe
The style of these items remind me of what we would get out of those 50 cent vending machines as a kid. The quality might be better (I'd assume so at this cost) but still too much for me.
I really wanted to try out the Local Eclectic jewellery calendar this year but wasn't able to get one before they went out of stock. Would love to see you try that maybe next year!
i have had the same pura vida string-type bracelet on my wrist for over 4 years. i sleep, shower, etc with it on and it is still looking as good as the day i got it. i know fresh out of the package they feel a little waxy due to the coating on the string but it wears off over time and they are INCREDIBLY durable!
Pura Vida had sensed what our reaction to the miniature-sponge-behind-a giant-door, in the Sephora favourites calendar would be ..... and decided to give us an even more insulting (and hilarious) offering. Thanks, I guess!?😂
I own some Pura Vida bracelets and I love them, but this is wildly expensive. They do a lot with charities, and if I were paying this price and know they were donating some of the money that would be worth it in my book.
Guys, i just shopped their 80% off sale. Pura Vida has much more than bracelets. Im in love with their enamel pieces. So far, the quality is outstanding. Im personally impressed thus far. I wouldn't pay full price, especially for the bracelets. The rings that have weight to them are definitely not malleable. Every single piece is really pretty. The bracelet sets $15 down from $45, which id never. Overall, the jewelry is dainty, even the pieces that look chunky. Im in love with my new jewelry and excited to see how it turns out.
I LOVE this brand. Been a fan of theirs for years and have purchased many of their bracelets. The string bracelets hold up on the rest for ages if you tie them so they are permanent. And many of their bracelets donate part of their proceeds for good causes… didn’t know they did advent calendars! This is exciting!
I have that second bracelet...it came from a Vera Bradley outlet. I actually have a ton of Pura Vida bracelets I've gotten with gifts . They're literally thread with one charm & it amazes me that they charge what they do & sell so much. I have the Saturn earrings in my ears right now...a client gave them to me & there's a matching string bracelet with a tiny planet charm. 😂,
I like this brand. I have a silver necklace from like 2016-2018ish and it’s still in great condition even tho I wear it daily and sleep in it. The brand is def a beachy vibe but I’ve loved anything I’ve ever gotten from them
Yup I was ankle bracelet wearer but I guess that is normal for here in Southern California and yes the anklet is meant tomhang a bit like in swoop style arpund your ankle despite theirnare some females who wear it slightly tighter and a little above the ankle bone
I still make the embroidery floss friendship bracelets and I’m 38 😂 I have two on currently (one matching my husband’s and one matching my Girls on the Run team from last year), but I also wear a ton of bracelets anyway so they blend in
Pura Vida is the slogan for the country of Costa Rica. It embodies the idea of relaxation, adventure, and being a part of nature. I feel like I remember these having been made in Costa Rica. Not sure
These bracelets remind me of the 4 Ocean bracelets & anklets that help pay to clean the oceans, beaches & water ways. They have braided & beaded ones, some with cute, tiny, metal charms on them. I have bought several. They're really nice & support a great cause. ❤❤
I got Pura Vida bracelets for my niece (probably 5 years ago now). I grabbed some extras for myself to see what the hype was. I can tell you, I tested them. I left them on for the entirety of spring and summer months and those bracelets (even today) look brand new.
Love your videos and advent season! I would really love to see you do one of the calendars backwards! Over the holidays I heard that some people do that, and with seeing some calendars put the "best" piece in door number 1, id love to see you do one backwards and if it gives you the same feeling!
Ummm... Well as someone who enjoys making jewelry as a hobbyist (I always use hypoallergenic and nickel free supplies), I can say they cost VERY little to make. In truth, I generally don't make these kinds of jewelry because they look cheap. I would rather take strips of old T shirts and braid them into a bracelet. Probably because of the beachy theme, when the pineapple sticker came up it made me think of something I literally just learned yesterday. Apparently if your on a cruise and you put an upside down pineapple on your door it means your a swinger LOL
If you made this kind of stuff and tried to sell it for more than a dollar a piece, you’d be laughed out of the craft fair! Cheap to make but definitely looks cheap, too!
I actually really like this - I think the colours are really pretty - gives Ibiza vibes… I’d wear all the things you got. I really loved the ankle bracelet - I have loads of them… And they donate to charity which I think is lovely.
I have many pura vida bracelets (the string kind) and they hold up very well long term. And they support different charities with each color usually. The rings do leave my fingers green so I stay away from them but I LOVE the bracelets. The necklaces are cute too, but green on the skin.
Idk if she actually looks into it but the string bracelets are usually around $10-15. All of the bracelets are handmade (I believe in Central or South America) with the aim to provide fair employment to artisans. They also do a lot of charity bracelets that benefit a large variety of organizations.
It just reminds me of jewellery that you can get on Wish...love your channel 😊 love and hugs from Norway ( born and raised in Liverpool UK, my dad was from Norway) ❤
I actually make and sell these string bracelets with the same exact waxed cord! The wax doesn’t protect the bracelet in any way, it just makes the cord easier to work with. It’s also very sticky, so natural variation in how tight the closure is tied can sometimes result in a seal forming. I always open and close every bracelet a few times to make sure no customers have the same problem you did! The sliding closure itself is actually made using the same knot you described that makes the spiral shape! You just alternate directions instead of doing it all one side
Listen….why did this box take me all the way back to my tenure working at Claire’s/The Icing, right down to the damn toe ring and puka shells??!! 😂😂😂 also, right on with 2003! I’m glad you ended up posting this! I could not stop laughing. 😂❤ Happy New Year!
lol when you said florida is a long drive from kentucky, i'm from new jersey and every year my dad would drive us down to florida. it took sixteen hours.
This definitely reminded me of stuff I use to be able to get from those 50 cent machines at the stores they probably are more expensive stones but they do remind me of those rings and shell bracelets from the 90s in jr high including the sparkling sticker that we all were obsessed with collecting
Please the bracelet trend coming back and my little scene queen heart sobs. I remember wearing the bracelets handful was such a move, also a great coverup. I used to have a bunch of 5th day kinda bracelet and one RAWR in the middle
There are shops in the mall that have this type of jewelry for $1 to $2 per piece. You could buy a lot of floss, beads and shells for that price and make what you really want. Oh well, it was nice to see. You always make it fun! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Have you tried the Charmed Aroma or Fragrant Aromas jewelry advent calendars for 2023? I got the purple house one from Charmed & it was mostly rings in my chosen size 8, plus a bracelet, necklace, & 1 set of earrings. Each calendar is supposed to be different items from their jewelry bath bombs & candle collections. I was pretty happy with what I got. They're marked down now. The Charmed Aroma Harry Potter one looks good, too, if you like Harry Potter.❤
If this stuff looked any more white-labled, it would throw off your colour balance entirely. I’d bet this fancy floss spent a large portion of its life cruising on a slow boat from Asia. Judging by the company’s willingness to replace products no questions asked, without proof of purchase, I’d guess each unit has a very low value. The money went into the packaging, which is pretty nice. I’ll give them that.
I love their bracelets. I have had one of the string ones for 5+ years and it still looks good and is holding up. My friend paid $30.00 for one with moon, stars and suns on it so the calendar price isn't that horrible. They use small artists and help with cleaning the plastic from the ocean and other charities.
My daughter was into pura vida in middle school. Expensive strings, just my opinion. But they make middle school kids happy. Thank you for sharing the unboxing. I love your advent videos.
My daughter who’s in college loves these. She wears multiple bracelets together, she even puts them on her ankles. She always buys the ones that they donate to different animals. If you just showed a picture of you mid neck down, you’d be a hip chick. 😂
Wow, this calendar is a huge disappointment. I’ve never heard of this brand, but now I know to not waste my money, thank you! To be fair (& nice:) I can maybe see my 8 year old granddaughter liking some of these items, but honestly, I’ve bought her jewelry making kits for a lot less than $100 & she’s created cuter pieces than what is in this calendar. As always, Alexandria is taking one for the team! 😊 lol
Somehow I've come across your videos and am binging your advent calendar reviews. The stone at 17:32 looks like an opal to me. A semiprecious stone. In case you haven't been told yet. That earns at least half what you paid for this advent calendar.
My niece was really into this brand a couple years ago so when I was buying her Christmas/birthday presents from them, i would get myself some bracelets too. I always got the string bracelets with random charms (like a cloud bead or a daisy etc) and they hold up really well actually! I would wear them for months at a time without removing them and I've never had one break, the metal would usually end up tarnishing but that wasn't a huge deal to me. The caveat is that I've never paid full price for anything on their site. I always waited for sales to purchase items. I've also only ever tried the string bracelets because they're not very size inclusive so like rings/necklaces/metal bracelets most likely wouldn't fit me so I've never tried them. (I AM actually interested in those beaded earrings though, they were really cute.) I feel like this calendar is really only going to be valuable to someone that really already likes the brand. I def don't think it's worth the price tag, and its disappointing to get a sticker as a whole day when they include stickers for free in every order. I don't know how they marketed this one but i would think they should have narketed this towards younger fans of the brand. I personally would have been disappointed by some of the items if i received this calendar but my niece (11) would have probably been delighted by every item lol.
This feels like the stuff I use to buy at Claire's in like 2003 😂 they came in sets and did not cost near this 😂 My mom and I loved anklets ❤️RIP Mom❤️

I got some of these bracelets for Christmas gifts a few years ago. I think I may have mine somewhere.
Looking it up they had a 10 piece of friendship bracelets at $48. I've always felt pura vida was over priced bracelets.
10:55 and Myrtle Beach is even farther than Florida is for you! Lol we went to Wildwood, Ocean City & Cape May (nj) 😄
Unless it’s an advent calendar made by a sticker company, no advent calendar should contain stickers. It’s a major cop out.
I would also accept an entire sticker book from a stationary themed calendar but I agree it would have to be art/ craft themed for it to make sense 😂
Have you seen the reviews for the $1300 Disney 100 Swarovski Advent Calendars???
My friend has a jewelry etsy and she's also an artist, so I'd let her put in her custom stickers.
Stickers WITH another nice item is acceptable to me. Just a sticker in the largest door sucks.
I’d take a sticker as a bonus item all day long. Love me a sticker. But as the whole day itself? Complete lazy ripoff.

@@jjusttlistennthat's great why did they put a 2.50 sticker in a 100+ advent calendar 😭
@@Amsayy Legit no idea. I don't work for them. Just have a discount code. I think it's bad to do that too.
I love your openin' spoon. Makes me think of my diggin' spoon to tranplant sprouts in my garden to bigger pots and such. 😂
Oh yeah, my guests never know that the large serving spoons have transplanted tons of plants. Hahha!
I want to go wrap up in the blanket with the puppers. They look so comfy.
Well this was a very disappointing calendar. I know they need to make money but that seems like a big mark up on their items! I wouldn’t pay $147 for this stuff. I might pay $40. Love your videos Alexandria and Happy New Year 🎉 ❤
It was 99 not 147 :) the value was 147
please do not pay even $40 for this quality of items, it's painful to imagine this selling for $100
@@pink_lemonss5668value means that’s what you would of spent if you bought them by them selves….so that’s what you would of spent…
…I agree, but would suggest for a tween, not even a teen.
I loved pura vida back in 2020. I love the idea behind their products. On their website a lot of them help out with water and land animals. Especially ones going extinct. They are pricey but I had the month subscription and got 4-5 bracelets
Aww nice to see the boys love the little paw next to his nose just precious
Seeing the dogs all tucked in and asleep is sooo cute!!!❤
Pura Vida has killer marketing. They are also a B-Corp certified, so part of the reason for the high price is due to paying their employees a livable wage. It's a simple product, not really my style but you get what you pay for.
They steal designs and scam people, they aren't a good company
No, you dont!!! Would YOU pay $149 for this crap??? PANDORA wins;)
Pretty sure it’s an MLM but ok
@@talarkevorkianit’s not?
I said it before and I will gladly say it again: You are so funny! 😂 I enjoy your videos so much❤ usually only funny dog compilations make me laugh, but you slay it everytime! Thank you so much for brightening my days❤ best wishes from Austria, Europe
You can never have too many advent calendars!!!
Yes, she just did!!!
Pure vida was at pride two years ago and san diego i won a bracelet that matches the studs and i cant lie i really like it
The style of these items remind me of what we would get out of those 50 cent vending machines as a kid. The quality might be better (I'd assume so at this cost) but still too much for me.
Number 5 friendship bracelet takes me bk to school days when I used to make them .
I think you need to try that clear strengthening nail polish to toughen up them nails love ❤❤
I think the opening spoon is very smart. And my niece is 20 she loves these bracelets. I guess it is a fad. ❤
I for one live for these uploads...like the after-advent advent calendars ❤️ keep 'em coming!
Teen girls would like that. I totally remember making those bracelets in school. The style you talked about was called a snake bracelet in Virginia. 😂
Yay! As many advent calendars as possible!!
I agree that it’s overpriced.
Your music choices perfectly represent my emotional rollercoaster while watching these advent videos.
Lol!
An upside-down pineapple?
Well, I live and learn 😂
@@christinevenner183 ikr lol
@@jmarshal Exactly!!
thought the pineapple thing was for everywhere lol be careful if your neighbors have a pineapple welcome mat or outdoor decor
Opals! My absolute favorite stone. Those earrings are so cute
LOVING advent season!!
I actually really like this - I think the colours are really pretty - gives Ibiza vibes… I’d wear all the things you got. I really loved the ankle bracelet - I have loads of them… And they donate to charity which I think is lovely.
How flippin' ADORABLE are your babies all cuddled up in their winter blankies? I've never seen anything so pure! 🥹
That calendar is giving $1.49 on Temu for the whole set. 😂
Yuppppp
I have many pura vida bracelets (the string kind) and they hold up very well long term. And they support different charities with each color usually. The rings do leave my fingers green so I stay away from them but I LOVE the bracelets. The necklaces are cute too, but green on the skin.
Idk if she actually looks into it but the string bracelets are usually around $10-15. All of the bracelets are handmade (I believe in Central or South America) with the aim to provide fair employment to artisans. They also do a lot of charity bracelets that benefit a large variety of organizations.
I was just going to comment this. I’ve been buying from them since around 2012. I love their messaging.
And??? So if it's for charity its OK that's it cheap??? ❤
It just reminds me of jewellery that you can get on Wish...love your channel 😊 love and hugs from Norway ( born and raised in Liverpool UK, my dad was from Norway) ❤
I really love these earings from day 3. They really look great on you!
No, they didnt!!! They made her look like my aunt who's never been married with NO sense of style whatsoever!!! Lol
My best friend is a middle school history teacher and the girls are OBSESSED With this brand
I'm glad you uploaded this video, but, wow! I would be angry at paying $100 for string bracelets and stickers!
So from what I remember about Pure Vida, it's overpriced string type jewelry right, it is very beachy
I love the way you use your advent calendar soundtrack to set the mood for your shift in tone
what a fun little calendar! Please keep advent season going all year long!
I love the after advent series!! I’m curious to how good that Lancôme one is
Me too!!!!!
Keep the advent calendars coming! All year is just fine!😀
The same necklace is on Shien for £1.50 ( $1.90) !!! 🤨
Excited to be here in the first 15 minutes! I'm always having a lovely, wonderful, fantastic day when Alexandria puts out a new video!
I love your advent calendars! Thank you for buying the crap like this one so I don’t😂😂😂
2:27 i had braces and turned teeth and never got spacers. Never even heard of that.
This is crazy, you can buy most of the items for about 2 dollars max. Paying extra for the name in the tag 🤷♀️
(I AM actually interested in those beaded earrings though, they were really cute.)
I feel like this calendar is really only going to be valuable to someone that really already likes the brand.
This feels like the stuff I use to buy at Claire's in like 2003 😂 they came in sets and did not cost near this 😂
My mom and I loved anklets
❤️RIP Mom❤️
