I use fantasy media to escape from my real life. People don’t really like me and I’m also in the closet to a lot of people who wouldn’t be ok with who I really am. Plus my neurodivergency makes life really hard. I love just immersing myself into the stories. The problem is that I’m really picky. I almost exclusively read Rick riordan. I love his writing style and the genre he writes in.
Have you tried Terry Pratchett’s works? They also have the same slightly whimsical tone and fun characters. I can also really recommend the Diary of Nicholas Flamel series, if you’re more into the YA fantasy. I hope your real life gets better someday soon, so you don’t have to escape so often!
