- What a week this has been. The Congress-JDS government in Karnataka is hanging by a thread. The congress has also seen a spectacular collapse in Goa, losing 10 of its 15 MLAs to the BJP, and in Delhi, the party has no clue who its leader is after Rahul Gnadhi's resignation. Seven weeks after the election results, the country's grand old party is facing an existential crisis. Then there are the regional parties who enjoyed a dominant role in the coalition era before 2014 and seemed to be giving the BJP the only real fight state-by-state. But look at their situation today. After winning just five seats in UP, Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the party, disappeared and went abroad, only to return to India earlier this week. Lalu Yadav's RJD, under his son Tejwaswi, got zero seats in Bihar - a first for the party which has been a powerful regional force. Tejwasi has been AWOL most of the last few weeks as well. Maywati didn't do that much better in UP, with 10 seats. Chandrababu Naidu's TDP is also unravelling quickly - four of his six Rajya Sabha MPs joined the BJP. The only parties that withstood the Modi wave were the DMK, the BJD, the TRS, and to some extent Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, but here too, the TMC is facing a strong challenge ahead of the Bengal state polls. Even the BJD isn't comfortable - they did well in the assembly poll but the BJP did well in the Lok Sabha election. With this massive mandate for PM Modi, and what seems to be an opposition that is withering away, are we heading towards one-party rule?

Congress had its days when it was supreme and no other national party could come close to its strength in LS and RS. Today the Indian votes trust BJP because of its honest work at ground level. Any national party which honestly delivers will get its share of votes. Congress is badly tainted with corruption which was so well hidden that the public in part thinks it is political assination when brought to the courts. Voters are very mature and old methods will not work. Dynastic control of power specially by people who have foreign origin will be viewed negatively in mature modern India. People who are dependent/obligated to the Congress party will keep dreaming for their good times but it looks like Congress days are over in new emerging India.

BJP always saying opposition can’t accept Modi bcoz he is from a poor family. We had many great leaders who were or are from poor and backward families. This is not something new. APJ a great leader and he was poor family.

This whole sensationalization of the 2014 & 2019 BJP forming the government is myopic. The BJP has less than 38% vote share, nationally. That does not include Tnadu, Kerala, Orissa and significant parts of Andhra/Telengana, Maharashtra, Punjab or Karnataka. That leaves the so-called hindi belt or cow belt. The BJP has managed to convince UP, Bihar, MP and Rajasthan, the ill famed BIMARU states, that all their miseries are caused by 50-70 years of Congress appeasing muslims. BJP has no long history of governance hence they can avoid any blame for past mistakes but at the same time take credit for present projects. BJP claims to be corruption free but people in Karnataka knows who & what is Yeddiurappa. Give some time in power before major corruption comes forward. What people are fighting for today is to preserve some of the judiciary & media in place when the BJP fully reveals it’s own corruption both moral and financial. In the meantime the country should enjoy the BJP at its initial surge of efficient execution of long overdue development projects like highways, ports and other infrastructure.
