  • In this video we look at some basic considerations for setting up in the defense. Special thanks to Bruce and JC for helping me out with this video. Hope you guys find the information useful. Defensive operations are something that can be talked about for hours on end. This video is by no means a comprehensive video, but more so some tools for your box. Thanks for watching.
    Bruce is the owner of Camp Armament specializing in Cerakote refinishing for your hard use firearms. They also provide assembly, modifications and upgrades to your existing platforms. Please check him out! He’s good people and does great work. Here is facebook page:

    Sigh, this video makes me feel old. I spent my time humping an M-60. Sure the Pig had it's problems, but I can say pumping 7.62's downrange made up for it. Especially the times we set the range on fire. I'm glad you newer guys in the military (all branches) are getting lighter weapons, but some days I wish ya had what we had not that many years ago. Mind you Brent, I'd have loved to have had the M1 and the 105 howitzer my dad had in WW2. I hope that you will want your kids or younger Marines or soldiers to have the chance to use what you had. As always, excellent vid. Essayons!

    The most effective use of two Ksp 58 (aka. FN MAG/M240) I've experienced was in a double sided exercise where my platoon was to clear the second half bottom floor of a two story office building and Another platoon had already cleared the top by the entry Point stairwell while we had cleared the first half and secured the central stairwell.
    My PC had placed the two MGs prone on either corner of the far half's central corridor and then had them frog-leap eachother while the rest of the platoon cleared the office rooms to either side of the corridor, two parallell rooms at a time. When we got to the end, all of the OP-for was claiming it was unfair to have two MGs covering a corridor like that as they couldn't even poke their heads out to see what was coming without getting a huge dual muzzle flash in the face...
    My country's military use 7.62x51 wood bulleted blanks that desintegrate against a muzzle device in a way that on the MGs create a 3x3x3ft sawdust cloud that's immediately ignited by the actual muzzle flash of the blanks. Quite the spectacular display in a half-lit enclosed corridor without much of windows to let in other light! XD

    We all know Brent and his crew are NOT Shills... Here's why. With all the previous FF attacks and CA's being directed by film industry hopefuls...they ALWAYS leave out critical details when making up stories and spinning them to the citizenry. Basically a lack of life experience and practical knowledge expose the lack of nuance we generally see in REAL circumstances.
    To sum it all up....here's the proof this crews productions are authentic... Camera lens cap BANGING around, during filming.
    I have no military experience other than working at a surplus store as a youngster. I can tell you an item description if you read me the serial number (from the 50's-80's ) and that's the extent of my tactical knowledge.. I grew up playing paintball... also airsoft with my son few years back and now I'm old. The fact that these guys take the initiative to produce a video in such a hands on, practical manner....is of serious note.
    For all you young guys reading the comments and thinking this team has too much time on their hands, and are just too gung ho about MIL-SPEC theatre play... Well, they're not. These men have families..jobs..domestic responsibilities...they obviously have better things to worry about, than entertaining people on the internet. It is my sincerest hope that everyone seeing this upload, considers the reality infused within. These men are helping to send a message ... a very serious one.

    I know your videos are oriented toward professional soldiers, but I think this sort of thing is very valuable for giving the general citizenry a good crash course if we are ever conscripted, or have some sort of Red Dawn type situation. Our public (me included) has a lot of rifles, but little knowledge and far less skill. History shows that most of us wouldn't have time to learn if we needed to. Your instruction is clear and I am sure you've saved the lives of many people who are deployed too soon by passing on knowledge less thorough leaders have failed to do. I think if there are one or two guys who are paying attention, their observation and care can protect their whole squad from simple negligence. I have no doubt that those guys are looking for information like you provide, and are passing that knowledge on. I'm sure other trainers are learning how to train from you as well. Thanks for doing this.

    Could you make a film about Guerrilla Sniping?
    There have been some films posted, but I'm still looking for information. About how was it done then and how is it done now. During the Vietnam War the N.V.A and Vietcong worked side by side and during WWII, Partisans and Allied Commandos worked together in occupied territory.
    How would a Guerrilla Sniper aid a Conventional Military if they were both fighting for the same cause, how could you counter an enemy Guerrilla sniper, how and would they work with a team, their group/ cell or partner (Spotter), how would they operate if they're alone?
    Seeing your previous films on enemy weapons, equipment, and cameo clothing. made me think. And I wonder what would the sniper or team use in operations if they are not being supported by conventional forces. If they and their group was being supported, would it be wise if they used enemy weapons, ( being in hostile areas controlled by the enemy they could savage ammunition and weapon parts off the enemy dead).
    Some of the bolt action rifles and soviet sniper rifles you had in your films, how would they be modified for long range ambushes? would the sniper be used for intelligence gathering as well, would they use drones you could find on the Civilian market as part of their equipment?
    What weaponry would they carry and deploy in a rural or urban environment. If you were a Guerrilla Sniper what cameo would you wear, what web-gear and pack would you use. What rifle would be your chose and sidearm. Chose of ordnance, how would a sniper work with a patrol or a platoon? What T.T.P & R.O.E would you use and what would an enemy Guerrilla Sniper's T.T.P be
    Knowledge and Wisdom is power, best thing to do is ask someone who knows and you seem to have it.

    Great video Brent! Could you by chance do a spin off on what you think a team or squad size element should be equipped with that is actually accessible to civilians? Also do you feel like the Corps has lost the art of camouflage? it doesn't seem to be as emphasized as one would think

    • @Brent0331
      @Brent0331  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My videos are oriented toward infantryman, I don't want to deviate from that. I do think the U.S. Military as a whole does not emphasize camouflaging techniques as much as they should. That is not a good thing, Guys are becoming too depended on technology. I went and trained with the British Royal Marines a couple months ago. Before we left the wire on every patrol, camouflage face paint was reapplied and fresh vegetation was added to your kevlar.

    what is the correct way of using the molle 2 ruck and assault pack and the but pack . using them together in a full load out mission and the purpose of each.thanks and have a nice day

    • @isaachousley325
      @isaachousley325 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have 2 loads to carry: you fighting load and you sustainment load. Your fighting load is going to be what you would need in a fire fight: extra ammo, tactical gear, water, food if the mission is long enough, ect. You sustainment load is the extra clothing and gear that you dont necessarily need on a specific mission/fire fight but will need in order to survive in the field. For the most part, you will carry your fighting load with the LBV/TAP/body armor and the assualt pack, while your sustainment load will be carried utilizing the ruck sack. That being said, depending on the situation, mission, and your role, there may be times that you use the assualt pack for sustainment or the ruck sack for fighting. Ultimately, how you utilize them depends on the mission, your job, your preferences, and unit SOP

      Judoka I'm not 100% sure on this but the military would probably prefer if you stuck to what's on their training manuals rather than get "training scars" from other people.
      This video actually has nothing wrong with it, but youtube isn't exactly a trusted source and this kind of material can get outdated if the military changes doctrine.

      There're M249's still in unit's armories but the primary issued weapon to an automatic rifleman in the Marine Corps now is the M27 IAR.

    • @isaachousley325
      @isaachousley325 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, the m27 replaced the SAW. The m27 offers several advantages over the SAW, primarily it being lighter and more maneuverable, and the ability to fire in semi auto. Overall, the m27 fits the mission of the USMC rifle squad much better than the SAW. Accurate fire will always be more effective than volume of fire. And the m27 allows for accurate high volume fire.
