Anaconda is python + a package manager called conda. Yes its a more user friendly way of installing and using python. I prefer it because it really simplifies making virtual environments. PATH is a variable that contains the file path to all your program files. so when you type "python" in a cmd window, it checks PATH for the path to python.exe and then runs it to begin python in the cmd window

Alex Crowley I think you will need to specify the path to the python interpreter in spyder. It is the python.exe file and can be found in the anaconda3 directory
My anaconda download has a file extension .pkg, not .exe. I can't open the installer. I did it successfully previously, but now I am unable to. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...
@@ikramvalence2412 Turns out I made a silly mistake and was downloading the MAC version for my Windows PC. Once I downloaded the Windows version everything worked.

Prashanth Ved I don't think I've ever used the anaconda prompt before. I always just use cmd or powershell

Bay Schneider you need to append the path to you ananconda3 folder to your PATH. You can do this by adding a line to your .bashrc file.

why is the 64 version better than 32? doesn't it occupy more RAM?
32bit version has a limit of about 2gb of ram you can use for python.

I got error while "import numpy"....Tehn the solution was to add "C:\Anaconda\Library\bin" location to system variables...then it worked.. :)
