I appreciated you doing these letter tutorials. I have a few more Christmas presents (yes, we celebrate late) and they'll help me out a lot. I did a happy dance when I searched for crochet letters and found them all!

You need 13 chains for the second part of the N.

I agree with everyone else. The 9 thing doesn't leave a stitch. And either way, the finished N leaves a longer ended than the other ones. I love your other vids tho.

Thank you for this! I just wish the K wasn't facing inside out :/ but I learned to manipulate the turning part so I faced it the right side up way :)

then i did these.....my N is AWFUL! lol! did it 3 times! on the fourth try, i kind of "winged it" and it still looks good! haha....YOU'RE AWESOME!

K worked great, had to make my own up for N as the last leg kept turning wrong side facing like the H did.
you have twelve chains and you double crochet into third chain and then 9 that doesn't leave a chain left
Elizren You're right it doesn't, which is really confusing me as I clearly have a st left in the video and count all the sts suggested, you can amend the pattern to just working into 8 instead of 9 while I figure this out.
cool anyway I just put three in the last one and mine came out cool and I blocked it already will upload a video I am so overdue for a video!
Elizren I am so glad that I am not the only one that noticed that.. I kept pulling then out and doing it over and over and over again.. So what I did is chained 13 instead of 12 and it worked that fine and then when I got to the 10th stitch I did 3 DC in the stitch and it looked fine.. Thank you so much for all the letters. Thanks to you HappyBerry Crochet, I have been able to make a few very nice baby gifts and birthday gifts.

My mother lives in a retirement home and has to put the words “in” or “out” on the outside door. I have made letters following your tutorials but now I need to figure out how to hang them. What would you suggest I adhere the letters to?

I got lost with letter N when you chained 12 and dc on the 3rd ch from the hk and left with one more ch to do 2 dc? I don;t have 1 ch left after the 9 dc and I tried repeating it and I still can't get an extra 1 more ch left to do 2 double crochet in it. Is this right?
Add a chain before you start dc’ing back.
Does anyone know of letter directions for Left handers? This doesn't work for us lefties, sad.

how do you block to make the letters stiff? I hope that I am saying the correct terminology.
+Ambience24 z You can either use an iron and give your letters a quick steam, or you can pin your letter into place and gently wet your project, let it try pinned in place and it should help to keep its shape.
this letter k is turning up several centimeters shorter than the others for me how would I make it taller
can u make the letters smaller (length) if u need to?
Just curious, if I wanted to make the N bigger (as in wider), how could I do this?
Also I would just like it bigger in general, by doubling the math on everything will I still get the same finished product? I thought I would but I'm having a bit of difficulty

This will be all messed up for a left handed crocheter. I thought it would be ok but it is not.
How do you "block" the letters? I think that is what you said.... if not, what did you do to make the letters stiff and straight?
Jacqueline Harris To block, you can try a couple of things, either a quick iron that's not too hot, or fix your letter into place with some pins, get the letter wet and let it try in place.

I'm super confused by your math on the N... it makes no sense... you chain 12, do 1 DC in the 3rd chain from the hook and do 9 more after that... but you only have 9 left after that first DC...
+Liz Carter I have the same problem. The math just does not work. I agree with Krystal White that you need to chain 13. If you don't, then you should do 8 DC after the first DC.
I did it 3 times, thought I was going crazy, then realized it's just a mistake in the pattern. I chained 13 and it turned out fine.

Liz Carter that happened to me the first time as well Liz. Just do it again and it will make more sense. 9+3 does equal 12 and you could be missing the tiny little stitch in the end
Same problem. Leaves me no stitch for the 2 DC in the supposed stitch after the ninth.
the last leg of the letter N is in the wrongside of the stitch
There is no wrong or right side in crochet, only preferences ;)

If you watched the letter K tutorial there is a turn in it like the N for the legs. Its not really relevant to the N though
