I lived in Barcelona about 12 years ago! It’s my favorite city!! Spent a year there and it’s just crazy huge! Every neighborhood is a different experience!
Seriously considering moving to Barcelona after I graduate from university at the end of the year, and this definitely helps gage the feeling of each neighborhood that I can see myself living in. Thank you!
Great vlog Luke, I loved Barcelona when I visited recently for the first time. We stayed in Poblenou which was great a lovely area only 8 mins on the metro from Urquinaona . Love watching you explore 😀👍
You made a good point, Catalan is the main language of Barcelona (Cataluna). One thing to add Spanish (Castilian) is handy if you speak it. Just stay away from the tourist areas, because there are expensive. If you are traveling on a budget just walk around and adventure , but be aware of your surroundings. For example there are plenty of places that you could eat at outstanding prices. Lunch or dinner (called MENU) comes with main course, second course bread and a drink (wine or other beverage) for 9.00 to 11.00 euros.
@@susomedin5770 Well, you said the MAIN language is Castilian Spanish absolutely. But I wrote main instead OFFICIAL language sorry my bad. And Catalonia Government-Institutions required Catalan to work with them. But you can conduct all businesses in Spanish not arguing about that. It has been debated by local citizens born in Catalonia for years to keep their heritage (Independents) with their roots in Catalan. In the other hand look at the United States, people thing English is the official language, but the U.S does not have an official language how ironic.
Glad u show another side of Barcelona. And that’s the problem many tourists had when visiting Paris. They think that love is in the air, clean and a perfect city until they were there.
Love the video. My Stepdaughter and I traveled there last year we love the vibe. Now I have my husband talked into moving there. after Carona V is finished. Looks like some of the streets we walked down also. We stayed in two different Hostels, San Jordi Rock Palace and Gracia. Everyone was so nice and helpful we had such a wonderful time and met the best people. We are from Atlanta and North Ga mountains. Keep up the good posts!
As a catalan who gew up in barcelona im glad you capture the essence of the main streets ^^. Even though, more than REAL is the "Old town" or "Casc antic" , where the medieval city started to emerge. Barcelona is divided by 2 segments, Old town and New town, half of the city is old town but the Tourist circuits avoid that area
binge watching your videos right now! This is great info for me, planning to complete my visa from Canada to work and live in Spain. Great vlog! Thank you
Although this video is 3 years old it is GREAT! What are some good hotels to stay at while visiting? Restaurants I will go back and get but this is an amazing place. Was scared because I heard so much about the racism. But they said don't let you stop you from visiting.
The guy at the fountain wanted pennies, or whatever change they have there. The roads are small in the town. Not much room for the vans to get through. Great video!
When I visited Barcelona a local took us to several places in Barcelona, but she was afraid of going to those narrow streets you showed because she said they were too dangerous.
To see the "real Barcelona" you should go outside of Ciutat Vella (old town), because this + Sagrada Familia and maybe Parc Güell is all tourists visit, that's it, but that's not even 20% of Barcelona. Also the street at the end (Via Laietana) separates Born from Gótic, not Born from Raval. La Rambla separates Gótic from Raval, these 3 areas are all quite similar with Raval maybe being the most sketchy part.
