- FINALLY! Polaris has jumped back in the 4-stroke snowmobile arena! The 90hp parallel twin may seem underpowered but it's got many advantages like raw torque off the line, low fuel consumption, less noise and less pollution. All that wrapped into a very good package for touring. Check out the video!

Im getting a Prostar Indy S4 very soon and its the sled i have been looking for for a long time
Maintenance is the more difficult because you have to tear down the clutch side to change the filter, pull the drain plug, where a two stroke there’s no need for that sliders wheel bearings all the same maintenance and that regards.
If your friends have Ride Command you can set up so you can see each other’s location on the screen. We have snow here but it’s been cold and not getting about 0F in the days. Just got a foot of power at those temperatures.
Im getting Polaris ProStare Indy S4 XC 137 very soon. This is the sled that will fit what i want to use it for. I have tested many different types of sleds and i say Polaris have products a sled that may end up being better than the other 4 strokes out there including Yamaha
How is the durability with this engine in the ATV? Will it make 30000 miles like the 998 yamaha engine?
Turbo next year? 190 hp? If, i think it gonna be a good sled
yea, heavier, more moving parts, less horsepower ,bigger pricetag sign me up. bet she starts easy when its -35f
and if you do get stuck you need a Nodwell a d9, voltron, and an act of god to pull that 20k$ anchor out of the treanch it should be laid to rest in.
It's not for everyone like I said. But there is a large market for four strokes and Polaris did it well enough in my opinion.
I costs less than an XC 650 by $1,000. Just to let you know.

Yamaha thought 4 strokes were the ticket , look what that got them. the people that want a 4 stroke are one step away from an electric snowmobile.
I love four stroke snowmobiles and I'm still very far away from even acknowledging electrics in snow much less consider riding one. Depends on what you do with them... In my neck of the wood (Quebec), i've got 30 000km of groomed winter trails and more and more, four strokes rules the trails.... off trails, deep snow and mountain powder is still a 2 smoke affair and totally agree with that.
Unfortunately the best 4 strokes are yamaha and there run is just about over 😢 very sad.... nobody beats yamaha engines
They are excellent indeed but Yamaha engine will survive for a while in Arctic Cat sleds.
Yes but I'm looking for one that is quiet and the polaris ProStare S4 is the same engine in polaris off-road vehicles so having a engine that is none to be very reliable you can't say that Yamaha is the best because overall I say they need to make it easier to get at the engine like the polaris ProStare S4 thay have done so. I say coodos to Polaris for thinking that way for their customers
