As an engineer who regularly is involved with industrial scale applications for power supply; here in Australia it is usually supplied from the grid at 22kV but the critical number is the kW (or MW) required not the volts (remembering volts x amps = watts). If a very high voltage is required for some on site process it would be stepped up with an on site transformer. There should be no reason for any secret government facility to deviate from this even if they had very high power demands.

Never forget that voltage is not the important metric here but the ability to convert 3 phase voltage into actual current is the important metric here. You need some serious transformer capabilities to be able to elicit the actual power for running these presumed experimental facilities. This is where you need to focus your attention

Prof.Simon. At the 4:05 time marker, you stated information regarding the construction of the Hardened Air Shelters...or HAS's as I know them. I was heavily involved in the construction of these HAS's at an RAF base, let's say in Cornwall, during the nineties. They are indeed, as you stated, shelters for aircraft that were in a state of 'battle awareness' at literally a minute's notice. There was a Tornado aircraft parked within each shelter, and there was a 'flume' concrete structure at the rear of the HAS and powered shutters, that open up and direct the jet thrust from the aircraft to the outside of the shelter. If you notice, each HAS is orientated differently, in other words...pointing in a different direction on the airfield. This is done so as if a nuclear strike should occur, then only those shelters whose doors are more or less directly exposed to the initial direction of the blast will be lost by simply being blown out by the power of the blast. If the HAS happens to be side-on to the blast, then the shock wave of the detonation would simply ride up and over the shelter, thus preserving the integrity of the aircraft within. Regarding the motors that power the doors, these are simply three-phase motors that, to be honest, would not require that much power....around 450 Volts Three Phase, with a minimum of ' current draw '.
Hope this helps...and please keep up the good work !

Something else to consider is these microwave towers are literally "line of sight". One would think there must have been other equivalent towers around that it was communicating with it. The question now is what band were these microwave transmitting on ?
Was it being used for voice, satellite communications etc ?
Knowing the band / frequency will hint at it's use, for instance D band (110 to 170 GHz ) has been used for directed-energy weapon (Wikipedia see "Microwave").

there’s a power distribution tunnel which apart from the M27 is the only thing which directly connects the New Forest district to greater Portsmouth . It’s use is to convey the grid supplies from what was Fawley Power Station beneath southampton water to Solent Breezes near Fareham & apparently once contained a battery driven locomotive. During tunnelling a very strange hominid is said to have been unearthed but unless existing in a drawer in some university is lost to time because technical & historical details re this passage is pretty scare on the net at least.

The way those microwave transmitter receiver type tower things are used is actually as a repeater to transmit data at near light speed across distances which are to the horizon only at speeds which are faster than fibre.
They were originally (and still are to an extent) used by City types to gain an advantage when conducting trades.
As the data packets arrive marginally faster than they do through fibre, that gives them an edge over someone who does not have access to the microwave link.
I believe that the Ridgeway Manchester channel did a thing on one thats out near Liverpool/the west coast if the UK a while back.
As such, if you drew perpendicular straight lines fom the surfaces of the cube atop the tower, youll likely see a bunch of similar towers around 20 miles away (unless theres a hill and then the signal can go further than the horizon as the reciever will be higher up.

    1. Claim: Sizewell nuclear power station fed power directly to military bases.
Other evidence: Sizewell A (operational from 1966) and Sizewell B (since 1995) are part of the UK’s National Grid, which distributes power across the country using 400 kV transmission lines-not by directly feeding military installations.
Note: This view can oversimplify how nuclear power integrates into a nationwide grid.
    2. Claim: There was never an extension cable from Sizewell to Orford Ness, Bentwaters, or Woodbridge.
Other evidence: While no direct extension cables exist, regional substations convert high voltage power (from 400 kV down to 132 kV and then 33 kV) for local use. Facilities like Orford Ness receive power through these established networks.
Note: The explanation here may miss some of the nuances in how power is routed over long distances.
    3. Claim: Orford Ness required an upgrade from 11 kV to 33 kV via Ipswich.
Other evidence: Most of Suffolk’s rural infrastructure runs at 11 kV. Upgrading to 33 kV would be a major and costly project (around £2-3 million per substation), and official records do not show that such an upgrade was made specifically for Orford Ness.
Note: This interpretation might not fully account for the practical challenges involved in grid upgrades.
    4. Claim: Bentwaters’ high energy demand was mainly due to aircraft hangar doors.
Other evidence: Although hangar door motors (typically 20-50 kW) add to energy use, the base’s main consumption comes from systems like radar, communications, and other operations-adding up to more than 10 MW overall.
Note: Focusing solely on hangar doors overlooks the broader energy needs of a military base.
    5. Claim: Woodbridge has triple redundancy power for unknown reasons.
Other evidence: The Ministry of Defence often ensures that critical sites have multiple power feeds. For example, RAF Croughton uses two 132 kV feeds (totaling around 30 MW), and Woodbridge’s three independent 33 kV feeds likely supply about 10-15 MW. This is in line with its role as a secure data or communications hub.
Note: While the setup might seem unusual at first glance, redundancy is a standard measure for reliability.
    6. Claim: British Telecom has a tunnel from London to Suffolk for unknown reasons.
Other evidence: The UK’s telecom network uses underground fiber optic cables connecting major nodes, typically with capacities of 2-5 Tbps. Standard BT conduits (0.5-1.5 meters in diameter) are designed for cables rather than for human passage.
Note: This observation has fueled some intriguing theories, though it reflects routine infrastructure design rather than secret projects.
    7. Claim: Orion Tower at Adastral Park housed the world’s largest magnetron.
Other evidence: The largest known magnetrons (for instance, in the AN/TPQ 53 radar system) operate at around 150 kW, whereas typical telecommunications magnetrons are in the tens of kW range. No verified evidence supports the claim about Orion Tower.
Note: This may be an overstatement based on limited or misinterpreted information.
    8. Claim: Microwave transmission is no longer used because fiber optics replaced it.
Other evidence: While fiber optics are widely used today, point to point microwave transmission still plays an important role-especially in remote areas and military applications. These systems, operating between 6-42 GHz, can achieve data rates exceeding 10 Gbps.
Note: It’s best to view these technologies as complementary rather than as complete replacements for one another.
    9. Claim: High power microwave tests at Adastral Park disrupted local TV signals.
Other evidence: UK UHF TV broadcasts operate in the 470-790 MHz range, whereas military radar and test systems typically operate between 1-95 GHz. Significant interference would require very high power (exceeding 1 MW) at close range. There are no documented complaints or OFCOM records to support this claim.

Regarding having three sources of power, in the United States, that is a typical set up for redundancy. I’m actually surprised that you got that much information from the telecom folks as for here in the United States that would be considered confidential information due to the possibility that the information could be usedfor nefarious reasons. I retired from a large electric utility, and we rarely discussed anything about our facilities in depth.

Dear Prof Simon, have you considered taking a look into high powered IONOSPHERIC HEATING ARRAYS? These go by the more common name "High Power Radio Telescope" Antennas. This reminded me of something I had read a little while ago about this microwave research you are talking about: "High energy microwaves can pluck the electromagnetic field in ionosphere like fingers playing a harp which can produce very low frequency radio signals that can penetrate the ground or water" I bring it up because about 2 years ago, the world received the shocking news that the facility known as HAARP was hosting an OPEN HOUSE tour. Video is still up on youtube. If the military over there wanted to experiment with Directed Energy weapons, those antenna arrays can be built smack dab in the middle of town, or up a high mount. Note this research can also be found in the book "Angels Don't Play that HAARP". Hope to see a video on this topic from you. Love LOVE your researching mind and spirit.

Also Woodbridge has one of the longest runways as it was a backup landing site for the space shuttle. Storage of nuclear weapons was also going on there. A very special pad was constructed for supposedly to take the weight of the C5 galaxy to land and park.. So much more info has not yet come to light, trust me 😉

Come on...havent you worked it out by now?? Woodbridge....extraordinary power supplies....strange happenings...its clearly ALL being caused by Brian Eno's discarded synthesiser stack! It is said to have been buried by the government in the 80s somewhere in rendlesham Forest because they couldn't turn it off. Eno got too ambient in the 80s and it ripped a whole in the fabric of space/time. A clue to this can be found in interviews where Eno and Bowie's producer Tony Visconti declared that he had a new machine that could 'f**** with the fabric of space and time' (an Eventide 910 harmoniser in fact). It all fits together!!

Nothing is fed from sizewell directly, they feed onto the super grid. It then feeds back to the grid at 132kv then down to 33kv and then feeds the primary’s 33kv to 11kv.
Supergrid voltage 400kv to 132kv Grid voltage 132kv to 33kv Primary voltage 33kv to 11kv

Having read the above comments, I am a little confused. at the prospect of major power supplies being designed to drive doors on hardened shelters to be a bit of a stretch. It sounds like one of those nice PR ladies having a laugh.
In my past I was a broker in the trading of main frame computers with all of the peripherals and support equipment. One of my regulars was Defence Estates who were tasked with disposing of the military parts of the Crown Estate. Hence I was involved in many MOD sites and also some on the continent and elsewhere.
These locations were generally rather large and most equipment used was of US origin and generally had 60 HZ 115 Volts Phase to ground while the UK used 50HZ 230vols phase to phase,
When the US handed back the Twin Fields you can imagine the joy shown by (Ipswich/Norwich) with the prospect of acquiring such prime estate for local use but alas no as it was found that they were wired US style and it would take millions to convert them. May this is the reason. Cobra Mist didn’t work, wrong power
