- Watch Olivier Award-nominee Jack Wolfe perform I’m Alive from Next To Normal.
Next to Normal is an intimate exploration of family and illness, loss and grief. As its heart is Diana Goodman (Caissie Levy in an Olivier Award-nominated performance), a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past.

fun fact: he sounds even better in person
Facts
His voice filled the entire theatre, it was incredible
Even though this is still very good, Jack Wolfe has such a presence on stage and brings this song to greater heights when he performs this live.
i wish i could go see him in person 😭😭😭
It’s true. Saw it yesterday and the whole place shimmers with it
His performance in the show is honestly spectacular and heartbreaking at the same time. He plays a very loving, supportive son, a mama's boy basically, who loves his mom to a fault, and when the twist happens that love becomes neediness, he clings to her - not just physically but in her mind - and he seems so lovely and innocent but then also ethereal and terrifying once you know what he is. He isnt angry, hes disappointed. He's frustrated, he's upset, but mostly, he makes her believe he's doing it out of love. The way he moves on stage is cat-like, shrinking any time the others talk about her getting better, reaching out for her to keep her with him, constantly reminding her of his presence. It's so haunting. This man is a marvel.
He's want she wants him to be, as the lyrics say. She doesn't want him to leave. And then there's the opposing side of the husband who wants him gone despite the fact we learn he still sees him. My favourite thing about this song is how before seeing the show I saw it at west end live and the oliviers and I saw a clip of this video on instagram, and I genuinely thought "What a fun song" And then after seeing the show the whole other meaning and depth of the lyrics of course came to it and honestly I've not stopped listening. So we'll written!
Just saw the show tonight. I’m going to go again. It was insane
You’re telling me this angelic voiced child is actually 28???? 😭 *cries while aging rapidly*
What the actual fuck, how?
He’ll probably look 12 until he’s 45.

Jack Wolfe is AMAZING!!! Please can we have a cast recording and proshot of this absolutely fantastic production?!?! this video made my week.
a proshot would be a DREAM. They have *no idea* how much money I'd be willing to pay for that.
Yes yes yes
Yeeees!!!
soooo truuuuuu
pleaseeeeee
i am being so incredibly serious when i say that i would give ANYTHING for a full cast recording. it would literally make my entire life
So, so incredibly same
Controversial opinion; way better than original bway cast. And I adored the bway version.
@@agirlandhiscattrue
there’s a pro shot being filmed!!
Honestly, they picked the best performer for this part. The ethereal quality to his voice is great.
can we cast jack wolfe in everything please??
I was absolutely stunned by his voice during the whole show. He's got a wonderful career ahead!
I need this on Spotify
I was honestly scared to watch this, because I knew if I heard him singing so well I wouldn’t be able to handle the amount of love and admiration I have for Jack. Jespers a lucky man 😅
omg shadow and bone fan? jesper is a very lucky man
Welp, he may be alive, but i've be completely slain (but also completely in love).
We met him after show last year and he stood chatting for ages..got photos..hugs and my niece ŵas delighted 🎉
Sounds like Jack! (I’ve never met him just know of him)
he's always so sweet to everyone at stage door which is so lovely - not all actors always are (tbf they don't really have any duty to) but he is so genuinely interested in everyone who's there
This song has never sounded better, holy fuck.
Never heard of the show, no idea how i got here, but this song is a bop.
If you wanna listen to the rest of it, I think, there's the original broadway recording on youtube, I'm pretty sure. Not the same actors, obviously, but still
it's currently running on the west end (london). 100% go if u can it is INCREDIBLE, plus such great mental health representation
Everyone who is able to go to the show and see this angel perform in person… *sniffs* be grateful, okay?
Just be really grateful!!!
Also I NEED the cast album, hearing Jack Wolfe sing Aftershocks is now one of my life goals.
I can't with how ANGELIC his voice is. And how beautiful amazing person he is. I'm in so much love I can't even find words to describe!!
No shade to Aaron Tveit, but Jack IS Gabe to me. When I see him in this role, all the little nuanced aspects of the character fall into place.
Seriously same. The more traditional jock/masculine Gabe feels a little one-note now after seeing Jack's Gabe and all of the different and interesting shades he gives the character.
@@mck-od9jf Yes, that's it exactly! You put it so well. With Aaron's version, I felt all the menace and selfishness, and knew Gabe as simply the manifestation of mental illness. With Jack's, I can see all the myriads of things Gabe represents, every nuanced dysfunction of that beautiful, messy family.
Well Aaaron Tveit is not known for being the best actor, it's like comparing Lin-Manuel Miranda Hamilton with Javier Muñoz. Gurl only a basic musical theater fanboy would say that Aaron is superior.
This song introduced me to Aaron Tveit and I adore him. I just saw Jack live this evening, and I was literally mesmerised by his performance of this song. I’m so glad there’s a proshot.
PLEASE THEATER GODS EXTEND THIS RUN. I CANT GET TO LONDON TILL OCTOBER
i’m so sorry 😭
A FORCE of talent😭
Jack's voice is magical! And the whole cast sounds SO BEAUTIFUL together! Seeing the first West End preview was so emotional and magical at the same time. What a show! 💜
One of the best performances and vocalists I have EVER seen. He is absolutely spectacular and this song is mesmerising and so powerful live I was speechless
Jack Wolfe is so unbelievably talented. I can't make it to the U.K. to see it live. Is there any word of the possibility of a West End cast album (or a Broadway transfer 👀)?
They are filming the show next week!
i neeeeeeeeed to see and hear Jack Wolfe sing aftershocks!!!❤❤❤
Another vote for a new cast recording!
i need them to reopen this on broadway with him so i can see it because this is my FAVORITE musical and i just discovered this right when it closes :') i am DEVASTATED. I wouldve gone to london just for this
i was telling my mom about how i’ve been waiting for this video for about a month, and i suddenly look at the N2N channel and see that the video was posted 2 minutes ago and started dying😭
i love jack wolfe and the wait was so worth it❤❤❤
just shed a tear.
Oh, wow, he's good. I haven't seen a lot of performances of Next to Normal, but he seems like a completely different type of Gabe than I've seen before and I'd love to see him perform.
If you can get out to see it, definitely do. Best show I’ve ever seen live
@@uns0ciable4ever I live in the US, but I just made plans with my friends who moved to Ireland to see it this September. I’m so excited! It will also be my first time traveling internationally, so I’m hyped.
@@uns0ciable4ever Just saw it the other night. It was fantastic. I was initially wary of the actress playing Diana, but she blew me away as the musical went on. Everyone was so strong and talented.
It was my friend's first time seeing it and she cried pretty much the whole way through - I love introducing new people to this musical.
Oh! I loved that they showed Diana continuing treatment in the final song. It's always been my biggest gripe with the musical that she just seemed to give up at the end and it made the whole musical seem anti-doctor and anti-medication. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to see it!
Literally cannot stop watching this. He’s incredible!
Jack is absolutely adorable and also sings very well - bravo! ❤😊❤
He has a Peter Pan look to him (maybe mostly the hair) that would definitely contribute to the idea of being haunted by him.
Seeing this guys performance this evening, I'm in total awe 😮 Takes me back to Evan & Sean Tully.. The 2 together 😢😮❤ Just saying 😅
Saw this last night and oh my gosh how incredible live. Replaying it in my head over and over and over. Absolutely amazing
I just love that Jack Wolfe does a little howl 2:15
already watched it on repeat on the N2N channel but watching & liking here too to support this amazing talent!
EVO's here? This was right next to the Mantah Corp Island Tour on my home page lol
He is incredible!
An absolute star ⭐
I’m so waiting for the west end recording!!!! He’s my fav gave for sure.
I love his voice!!!!
This changed my life
FRICK i love him
His voice is perfect! I went to see Next to Normal and saw the phenomenal standby for Gabe (and Natalie) but I’m desperate to see his Gabe so I’m so happy there’s a pro shoot happening.
Saw it today in London - amazing talent 😊 highly recommended
I have been waiting SO long for this! Thank you, thank you! It was jaw-dropping seeing Jack perform this number at Donmar and I can't wait to see it again at Wyndhams. A huge standout moment in an exceptional show.
I just went to the show and it was amazing ! This song is my favorite. ❤️
Went to see the show, its amazing, go see it
Please a cast album!!!! Please!!!!
I haven't seen the show (yet) just listened to the OBC soundtrack. Aaron Tveit's version of this sounds more menacing, but this one sounds more insecure. Not that Jack's performance itself is insecure - but he sounds like he's portraying the character to show how scared he is of being forgotten.
Just love this guys voice and his is a good actor to what's not to like.❤️
I am so, so hyped to see this live
Also the band sounds so good..! 🔥
Sounds so good!! Can't wait to see this in person in two weeks!
He would make a great Moritz in spring awakening
You're not gonna believe this
someone pls drop the bootleg
@@melchiorgabor oh i second this please
THANK YOUUU! ♡
Thank u very much 🙏
I need this song on Apple Music
Where is the westend show soundtrack? when does the movie come out? such a great show!
I am convinced that there is no more of a perfect human..
is this the guy from Shadow and Bone?
Yes, Jack Wolfe was in Shadow & Bone 😎
YES THE ONE WHO PLAYED WYLAN HENDRIKS/VAN ECK
Give her all the awards 🎉
her?
IT'S WYLAN SINGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!
Next to Normal is in London?
Yes, at Whyndams theatre until 21 September, a transfer of last year's Donmar Warehouse production. I saw it last night and it's absolutely superb.
You NEED to go see it RIGHT NOW !!!
Yeah, It's in Wyndham's theatre until September 21
@@JonMarkDeaneI ma booking my ticket for August then. I'll visit my relatives there for vacation. Can't wait for it!
He is incredible!
i need this man horribly
I wanted to hear his voice as I have enjoyed his performances in the past, but it seemed the instrumentals were a bit to loud and competed with the vocals.
I wish they didnt went as heavy with the post processing
Very talented cast so no hate from me, just personally I prefer the original cast from 2007 idk Aron Tviet sang it with more of a character.
My thoughts as well. Jack sang it very well and hit all the right notes and has a lovely voice. I just didn’t feel anything when he sang unlike when I listen to Aaron sing it.
I think Jack does sing it with a character, though his and Aaron's Gabe seems to be two very different interpretations. Aaron's is a very straightforward mental illness, this one's a sly golden boy.
This is great. But it don't have the full energy behind it as on stage
He's good but he just doesn't have the power of Aaron tveit
