my theory is that empires is the same universe as hermitcraft but in the future, treating the rift like a time machine, purely based off of ren being in a grave of kings and such

Fun fact: when Hermes was born (in Greek mythology) he stumbles upon a tortoise which he then preceded to kill and use its shell to invent the liar. And yet during Zeus's wedding with Hera he was keeping track of the guest list (every body in the world animal or otherwise had to come) when one lady didn't come he went to see her and she said she wasn't interested in the wedding. So he picked up her house through it on top of her and she turned into the first tortoise. And in some stories when he was born Zeus and Hera were already married. So Hermes is probably a time traveler. Hmmmm much like our own MythicalJSausage

I don’t think hermitcraft is real either because we know that gem is a celestial being who can travel through worlds, but in her most recent empires/ hermitcraft episode she travels back to hermitcraft by dreaming, which would mean hermitcraft isn’t real and it is just a figment of gem’s imagination.
Prismarina just writing the lore for Emipres SMP, y'know, the usual. in all seriousness tho, this does make it feel a bit sad that we never get to see Sausage or Joel spend time with Hermes in the videos besides for the short moments where they talk with him and ocassionally move him over to the other's empire...
