Whenever I've done this quest it's usually *broad daylight* outside the cave. I always thought the inside and Bloodmooniness was because it was some kind of pocket dimension.
He wouldn't be evil if his idea of hunting was for survival but an important aspect of his personality is enjoying hunting, whether the hunted be animal or humanoid, for no other reason than enjoyment. That basically means that Hircine enjoys killing needlessly and that might be seen as evil, depending on your moral perspective.
But the very idea of survival is hunting is it not? Did ALL of our ancestors hunt animals for their meat/hide/bones for some type of survival? Hide for clothes/shelter. Bones for structure/weaponry. Meat for consumption. I'm Mexican and the same applies to every race and their ancestors.
Well, Sinding cant take the ring off unless someon else accepts it. And he can turn at will, but there are times of forced transformation that he wishes to advoid
At east his transformations won't be as frantic anymore. He just has to transform during full moons and bad engagements now. But like he said, best if he just stays far from civilization.
You can get both rewards, for those who don't know. Go with Cinding, then betray him at the end after he gives you your reward. Then Hircien will give you the Savior's Hide after that. I like to think of it as a hunter making its pray lower its guard, before striking when the competition is dead.
vampwriter I got both by siding with sinding in bloated mans grotto and then I got the rind. Then I went to the rifted jails and sinding was there in wolf form. I unrelenting forced him through the bars and somehow he was able to walk through them. And he walked out the jail door and the people of the town did not care. So I followed him the grotto and then I killed him and hircine talked to me and I got the hide.
Its not plothole that he didnt lay off the ring before meeting you, its clearly states in the mission that you cannot take him off once you have him unless someone willingly takes it from you. If you are a werewolf the ring will even trigger spontaneous turnings
Predators always seek out the weak and sickly amongst their prey. I cannot see Hircine doing anything other than that because that's is the nature of things to begin with. No pack of wolves or pride of lions goes after the head of the stampeding prey but at the stragglers. The weak and sickly feed the predators while the predators cull the weak and sickly from the herd making the herd stronger. Hircine would very much approve of hunting the weak and sickly and be against hunting the strong and healthy and in doing that simply promote nature. Sinding killing a child... that's Hircine promoting nature and nothing more than Sinding being duped from the start into thinking he would only hunt the strong.
Not since watching Josh narrate for ShoddyCast have I been so entertained by listening to someone retell a tale I already knew pretty well. This was very well done and, I enjoyed it very much. Good job Drew and keep up the good work.
There is a way to get both rewards from Hircine without to kill Sinding. First you kill the hunters with Sinding. He will stay in the cave and you go talk to Hircine. Then you go back into the cave. Normally you would kill Sinding for the other item but you can go sleeping right before Sinding and when you awake, there are two Sindings, you can kill one of them and you get the reward. So you didnt kill Sinding but you have both items and a good feeling...
Love the Bloodmoon Prophecy... favourite part of Morrowind. Guys, I’d love to see a video outlining Pelinal’s involvement in the Alessyan Rebellion, right up to his demise at White Gold tower!

"One single arrow will bring the stag down." Unless you're like level 3 and using iron arrows, then the bitch is healing faster than I can get him. Have to resort to Flames or poisons when I'm that low level
M3T4LH34D91 well yes but the moon has to go down eventually, but it's completely hypothetical seeing as the sun never comes up in the cave, a mod could fix it but it wouldn't matter seeing as Bethesda hasn't and probably won't explain if this cave is special and only has a moon or if the sun does come out.
Oh okay i misunderstood. In which case it would probably act as normal cuz the grotto isn't technically a cave as you can fast travel from inside. Only way to know for sure it to test it yourself
Odd, how the Dragonborn's dealing with the daedra echos the lich in D&D. The lich promises its soul to many different demon lords, and daedra seem to fit that role. Just a thought.
THe liches aren't the only ones that offer things to demons in DnD. I'd say warlocks are a closer approximation than Liches. Especially since Liches only really bargain with Orcus. Also don't they swear fealty not souls? I'd say that keeping their soul is the whole point of lichdom.
I think the reason Sinding could transform is because he always could. He just lacked the will to be in FULL control of it, and sometimes he underwent forced transformations. The companions aren't an exception either, you can overhear Farkas complaining about the beast inside of him. The only reason I can think of behind the Dragonborn being immune to this is because they already have a much more powerful beast inside of them, their dragon soul.
Most of the time I’d say a murderer doesn’t deserve a second chance, but when you literally became a monster out of control and killed someone, that can be forgiven, he had no will to do those actions, and thus I spared him and helped him in his self defense as werewolf brothers
The Dwemer I would also like to know....really I do! Also if such creatures exist what are their weaknesses? I have but one weaknesses...and that is...CHEESE!!!
If Hircine wants one then sure it would exist, were creatures don't have a defined species so he could make any were animal he chose, though he tends to go with predatory animals.
Sheogorath Prince of madness - actually I think werecrocodiles are actually a thing in elder scrolls lore, I also think weresharks might be an actual thing in the lore too.
Sinding killing the little girl is exactly the point of the hunt. The lion goes after the weak young and the sickly old of the herd to get the easiest kill. Nature is direct and humans being so careless with their lives is the lesson Hircine is supposed to teach. Be wary of the woods and if you aren't hunting you're being hunted.
I never had trouble with killing the beast without spooking it until one time i did the quest at night and had a random transformation because of the ring. I didn't even know that was a possibility in all the times i played this game. You learn something new every playthrough.
I believe Sinding changed in the cell because he gave the ring up. I believe the cursed version of the ring did to some degree surpress his transformations, however Hircine had full control as to when it's wearer would shift. When he took off the ring, the beast in him saw an opportunity to escape when it wanted to.
My most recent play through, on PS4 special edition (before anniversary came out), Sinding bugged out. He just stayed at the other side of the cell and wouldn’t approach me. I kept waiting, went in and out the jail house, and even reloaded a couple of times. It took forever but he FINALLY came to the cell door after a good 20 minutes. 🙄
Kinda sad that the skaal legends of the bloodmoon have died out in 200 years. Though hircine's ring in daggerfall lets you no longer suffer negative effects of lycanthrope including having to kill an innocent once a month.
I kinda feel that because he couldn't control his transformations before having the ring, as soon as he gives you Hircine's ring, he transforms. And, if I recall, when you start this quest, if you put the ring on, you can't take it off, meaning you'll transform spontaneously
No plot hole. Cursed ring can't take off but, because hircine is fair. If someone willingly takes it he can remove it. Hence why the dragonborn can't remove it when acquired. Just my own opinion but makes sense. That's how I've always seen it anyway
I think Singdig believed his only hope was to return the ring to Hircine, so it wouldn’t make sense to drop it down a well. By accepting that responsibility we allowed him to get rid of it while knowing it would be returned. That’s not a plot hole imo
You can actually get both rewards...help sinding in the hunt and then leave bloated man's grotto to talk to hircine... he'll love the turn around but if you go back in and kill Sinding at any point... Hircine will reappear and tell you to skin sinding's hide, which he'll then turn into the savior's hide anyway
There is another horror about the blood Moon if you consider the Switch exclusive items of Skyrim as canon, being the fact that Calamity Ganon resurrecting the beasts of his armies of Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, Lynels, and Hinox beasts at midnight of nights of the blood moon.
I do have a theory on why he didn't just throw the ring away. if you read into fantasy story's about cursed items, most of them always come back to haunt the owner UNLESS, it's offered to an other and accepted with the knowledge of the curse. at least that's what I tell myself. also he took the ring to better control his transformations. in Skyrim the beasts can transform at will.. you see it all the time..ie. werebears and werewolves in the wilds. but the ring would make him transform at random. that's why he still had it. also why we can't take it off until the curse is lifted.
This missions was strange to me. Sinding said that he stole the ring to control the changes yet he could change at will. He said he can't control himself in Werewolf form yet he was able to speak perfect English and without even the hint of a bestial howl. Not even the Dragonborn werewolf can communicate in Werewolf form. I think there's more to Sinding then meets the eye. The only other Lycans who demonstrated even similar levels of control were the Companions but they are a different kind of Werewolf.
I'd like to think he is kinda like the hulk. He can ALWAYS transform, but the struggle is when he is transforming when he doesn't want to. Additionally, Its possible he CAN'T throw it away. There have been many items, especially artifacts in the elder scrolls, especially cursed artifacts that cannot be gotten rid of unless given away to someone willing. And even if that is not the case, how do you think Hircine will react when this guy who stole his very treasure straight up throws it out instead of trying to appease him by returning it? And anyways, I'm pretty sure even the player character cannot unequip the ring or drop it.
When i did this quest, i had already adopted Lucia in whiterun. I was so afraid of the same thing happening to me as to sinding that i did not return to whiterun until i got rid of that ring.

I love This Quest , I aways Choose to help the werewolf , and get ring then I come back to the groto and kill the werewolf and take his Skin to hirsine This only work until he still inside , Hirsine is happy , I take revenge for what he did to the little girl , and I get 2 daedric artifacts at once
I’ve been wondering about the moons. What would happen if they collided into each other. Can it even happen? If it could, what would happen to Nirn, both naturally and metaphysically? Would a daedra take advantage of the confusion or would it effect them too?
1st play through : Spare Sinding got the ring.( As he promises to stay in Bloated Man's Grotto.) Later on I run across him out & about, WTF dude !?! 2nd play through : Spare Sinding long enough to get ring then go back in & kill his ass, thus getting both Savior's Hide & Ring of Hircine. I mean just live up to your oath you infanticidal weak minded fool & I'd let you live out your days in reflection & self imposed isolation. Even though I'm still pissed about the fate of Mathies & Indara two innocents that didn't deserve to loose their daughter. (I ate his liver & spat out the heart, quest over.)
Here's a question I been asking myself lately. How is a mortal able to steal anything from Draedric Prince, besides Nocturnal's key, since its in Mundus. Doesn't really make any sense when you think about it
I woofed out and murder everybody 🙂 also if you go into bloated man's grotto before I'll met by moon light there is a give from a blades member. He too was being hunted
I remember when this first came out it glitches for me and he was in the cell again then when I left he was transformed and ran out of the city I went to the grotto and there were 2 of him also was playing on ps3 when this happened
I don't think that his inability to control his transformations is a plot hole. He might have only been only able to transform at will while still being unable to prevent himself from randomly turning, thus negating any plot holes.

Isn't the BGM at the start of the video from Fable 2? I'm almost sure it's the same song.
Sinding be like your not you when your hungry have a cHiLd
I swear to god, Hircine is voiced by the same dude who voices Cook-Cook
My favorite deadric prince is molegball
I’ve been wondering about the moons. What would happen if they collided into each other. Can it even happen? If it could, what would happen to Nirn, both naturally and metaphysically? Would a daedra take advantage of the confusion or would it effect them too?
1st play through : Spare Sinding got the ring.( As he promises to stay in Bloated Man's Grotto.) Later on I run across him
out & about, WTF dude !?! 2nd play through : Spare Sinding long enough to get ring then go back in & kill his ass, thus
getting both Savior's Hide & Ring of Hircine. I mean just live up to your oath you infanticidal weak minded fool & I'd
let you live out your days in reflection & self imposed isolation. Even though I'm still pissed about the fate of
Mathies & Indara two innocents that didn't deserve to loose their daughter. (I ate his liver & spat out the heart, quest over.)
Hircine is morally indifferent. Not good or evil. Just sort of does his own thing
Here's a question I been asking myself lately. How is a mortal able to steal anything from Draedric Prince, besides Nocturnal's key, since its in Mundus. Doesn't really make any sense when you think about it
Or you can shake up the hunt by killing everyone then turn on sinding 🐺
I woofed out and murder everybody 🙂 also if you go into bloated man's grotto before I'll met by moon light there is a give from a blades member. He too was being hunted
I remember when this first came out it glitches for me and he was in the cell again then when I left he was transformed and ran out of the city I went to the grotto and there were 2 of him also was playing on ps3 when this happened
I don’t know if you guys know but you can do both and get both of the artifacts
Well done my hunter the night is nearly at its end
I don't think that his inability to control his transformations is a plot hole. He might have only been only able to transform at will while still being unable to prevent himself from randomly turning, thus negating any plot holes.
I know a vanilla way to get both saviors hide and the ring of hircine.
Killing the weakest is how wolfs hunt.
