I have so many pets but none of them I feel such a connection with to call my familiar. I recently got two kittens and a pet toad. Maybe one of them can be my familiar, but so far I don't have that kind of connection with them. My younger brother has a clear familiar, one of our cats got super attached to my lil brother after his cat Goomer died. Filoux will follow my brother everywhere around the house, where my brother is, she is. We truly believe Filoux is a spirit guide whose original job was to get my brother through the grief of losing Goomer. Now they're so connected it's truly beautiful. I definitely feel like you can't just look at your pet and go "Yeah that's my familiar now." Familiars have such strong connections with you and usually show up when you need it the most.

Witchcraft tip: Different spells or practices work better if you have more experience with these types. For example if you were a beginner witch I do not recommend shape shifting as often it is practiced wrong and it's not successful. However if you had more experience you would be more familiar with the topic of shape shifting
