After watching some of the scissor lift B-Roll, I was reminded of another thing that Joe Walker (Editor) managed to imbue in the film: The essentials. We don't even get footage of entrance to the other shells (do they also use scissor lifts? What kind of approaches did they use that didn't work?) because the focus is on this particular one (in Montana). PS: And yes, I'm also wondering how they were able to avoid getting extreme eye strain while shooting those sequences in the chamber! PPS: Denis' shirt at 7:18 :)))))))
well the light there is a big soft source, i should imagine it looks way less contrasty in real life, cameras always exaggerate this, i also don't think the light needed to be very intense since they where shooting with Alexa cameras
You can see same thing being done with Lubezki on the Revenant. You detach most of the camera's brain and give it to AC while still being connected to the sensor by wires so that operator has to endure less weight when shooting and focus better on cinematography.
1:12 "Story Of Your Life" Hmm.. Blue Harvest. Edit: Nope Actually that was the name it was going to be but then was changed back to the original title "Arrival"
Gets me thinking of how Jeremy said the directors French accent made him sound like saying "and we are going to fuck us on you" ("focus" was intended...). And I notice he says cut in French all together - "Coupez!" And the dude aiming the gun makes me think of that idiot Alec Baldwin. I'm behind Alec Baldwin - it's too dangerous to be in front of him! (I stole that joke from somebody's excellent comment. If you recognize it - yeah, it's yours)
WOW a actually real set! i was expecting Green screen all over the place!
Villeneuve is more like Nolan, practical effects
Give me one good reason why this is not 10 hours long.
Because they don't have that much footage
4:48 The Mic looks like one of the shells

6:18 I like how there's a guy with an Alexa strapped to his back guiding Bradford through the room lol

Bro...Do you even Alexa?
Nate's Film Tutorials you talking about me or him? :p
That's when you know video village is too crowded haha. I was wondering the same thing.

White screen
you are destroying the magic of cinema to show it before the release of the movie.,
Well you don't have to watch it before you see it, some people could have seen it already at a festival and wanted to see b roll
Yeah can't believe it
