Asylum seekers complain Scotland and Wales are 'too cold'

  • Refugees from Afghanistan are being housed in hotels at a cost of £1 million a day in the run-up to the first anniversary of the Taliban takeover, it has emerged.
Some have refused accommodation with reasons including that they do not want to go to Scotland or Wales because they believe they don’t speak the language and the countries are cold, according to unconfirmed reports.
Around 9,500 refugees are still living in hotels, one year on from the Taliban seizing power on August 15 last year.
Some 70 hotels are understood to still be in use at a daily cost of £1 million.
This is slightly down from 84 hotels which were previously being used, and it is understood officials are constantly looking at ways to drive down the cost.
In February, the Home Affairs Committee heard that the Government was spending £4.7 million a day housing asylum seekers in hotels, of which £1.2 million was being spent specifically on Afghan refugees.
Around 7,000 Afghanistan evacuees are said to have been moved into settled accommodation since arriving in the country.
Officials recognise that living in hotels for months is not the best situation for families, and are working to move them on to settled accommodation as quickly as possible.

“Since when…country?” Routinely and for centuries, that’s how English law works. Whenever a judge makes a judgement, that judgement varies the interpretation of the law for specific circumstances that the original statute may not have anticipated. Many people think that the greatest strength of English law is its ability to evolve and develop over time without being constantly re-written - it’s why we have 200 year old laws that are still being applied, because the interpretation of the law changes over time. In that respect all judges are “activists” - interpreting and evolving the law is very much part of the job description.

So if Albanians came here to escape the conflict then why aren't they being sent back, now that the country is at peace and their lives are not in danger! The 1952 UN Refugee Convention was intended to give temporary sanctuary until it was safe to return to a country. The UK - once your here, just keep your head down and don't cause any trouble and you're here for life. But if you are a problem then the chance of being deported is negligible.

There is almost universal ignorance of the UN Global Compact signed by Britain (along with 63 other countries) in Morocco, December 2018, where these nations surrendered complete control over their Immigration policies to the United Nations. And by which in Article 17 of the Compact, immigrants rights to HOUSING, HEALTHCARE, EMPLOYMENT and EDUCATION are to supersede those of natural born British citizens. A very sinister clause and which strips native citizens of their rights, giving priority to the newcomers.
Where are these non English speaking immigrants going to find jobs and where is the housing for these hundreds of thousands in the UK when shortages of accommodation currently abound. And will any return to their homeland at the end of the three years.
