Half slice... double the fun!
As one of many half-slice kayaks we wanted to make sure, there's something about our Machete that sticks out. And well, we're proud to say there's no half-slice as uncompromising as ours. We went with an incomparable rocker profile which allows the Machete to emerge in an extremely controlled manner. At the same time the tail is more slicey enabling you pirouette for hours.
How did we combine such opposite characteristics one might ask? Here's the answer to that: The Machete is blessed with a broad and flat hull from nose to tail making it pinball over waves and stoppers and switch right back in to control after landing. Neat and playful on easy sections, as well as fully in control in heavy whitewater - that's what the Machete is all about.

You like to play in the waves? The flat hull does not just provide security but also makes it the "Queen of Waves". It slides nicely into the waves and masters Spins, Blunts, Ender or Rocksplats. Surf's up!

Hey Wade, really rnjoy your reviews and am looking to buy a halfslice myself.
However here comes the issue:
I am about 6 foot 4 with a bit shorter legs than probably usual and weigh only 154 pounds.
What would your recommendation be for the most playfulness?
I enjoy splats, tailees and the lot and would love to take it on some bigger water(4+/5 considering i've ran medium volume 4s in an playboat(dagger rx 6.9))
I highly recommend the Ripper 2 M for you trust me from what you said this if your boat.

aww come on Wade, give the drain plug some love...it is definitely a step up from the drain plug Pyranha uses. ;-)

Pyranha actually has their on molded plug that’s in the shape little fish and is clean looking
Lettmann looks like something that would be in a Wal Mart rec boat with 2 gallons of gasket sealer smudge everywhere inside the grab handle cut out of all places 😂

You know what it reminds me of on first glance? A Dagger Vertigo but with rocker and bedazzled bow detail.
Now that’s a interesting comparison I actually owned a vertigo awhile back not many of those are out there nowadays i would like to revisit that one

Thank you for the review of both sizes! The 65 looks like a lot of fun for someone smaller than 180. I know you hate the drain plug but I don't get the Machete logo being a sticker. Lettmann has been making great boats for decades; they know better.
Agree I would get it if they were like a start up company just trying to like get boats out on the market but come on Lettmann was founded in like the late 70s early 80s to get a mold in graphic is like a email with a pdf file to a supplier I know because I have sent those emails before. And putting 4 of the same Lettmann word spaced like 2’ apart is such a waste my hopes they watch these videos and read some the comments on the drain plug placement and graphics and make changes for the better.

Hey Wade, can you shed a quit comparison between the machette 85 vs the Rewind? Looking at getting a half slice myself!
Very different boats I like the rewind over this one the rewind is more playful and runs the river better the Machete surfs better and little better balance end to end but falls short when compared to rewind
I'm 175lbs. Thinking the 65 would be best choice for me for an Ocoee/Whitewater Center boat, no? (I currently paddle a plastic slalom boat at WWC).
Yeah it’s more of a full splat and player then river running at that weight me and you are close in weight i really liked the Pyranha rip evo also it’s slightly bigger then this one but boat paddle similar to me
Hello, what are the differences compared to teh Antix 2.0 in M. Which would you prefere ?
Personally I would take the machete 85 over the Antix 2 all day. But I did like the Antix 2 the machete is more of a all round HalfSlice. And to add to that i would take the ripper 2 large over every half slice I have paddled.
Which one is the better spraydeck for Machete ? Level six , HF or ? Thanks
I use the level Six ace skirt but have used IR skirts a lot also the HF are not available in USA to my knowledge
Everything you are saying about this boat reminds me of the EXO Zion slalom that I paddled the other day. I’m guessing they are quite similar. I’d be interested to see you paddle a EXO to see if you felt the same
