Just to be clear, my sandals are ~10.5 inches in length, from tip to tip. (I normally wear a men's 9.5 shoe size.) The consensus in the comments seems to be that with upkeep and preventative care (like reinforcing the soles), your sandals can last 5+ years. And while I didn’t do that (and never claimed to), I agree that it’s sound advice. Finally, some viewers have accused me of lying, but I stand by my reporting: two months (not weeks) of full-time RV living; that means active, everyday wear, often with dirt, gravel, and the elements, all along the Pacific coast. Thanks for watching.
Well your shoes and the box labeling clearly say size 41, which is a men's US size 8 or woman's size 10. Men's US 10-10.5 is size 43 EU.
👏🏼
@@TheMotomuras 👏
Birkenstock run small. My foot size is 10.5 while the shoes I use are 8 marked on the box. Your shoe size is my shoe size
My 4 year old arizonas had less wear than your 2 month old ones. Crazy
😂
Yeah I don’t know what he’s doing with his shoes wtf
He must wear them everyday which would make them look like that.
@@lilipurr7228 I can wear shoes everyday they will never look like that
@@user-hg2vb7kn3s Are you not to wear them everyday?
You’re not supposed to run a marathon with these.
😂
😂...looks like he wnt to a war with these birks on...😂
I have my Birk for 8 years now and I havent have any significant damage on the outsole. Maybe it depends on how rough a person use the Birk. The shoe cobbler can easily replace the sole with a Birk rubber outsole.
You can take birks to any cobbler and they will fix whatever you need. They have all the necessary components. So if you need a new sole they will just peel the old one and put a fresh one on. So they will be like new but your foot is still molded
I just watched a video of a guy who had his resoled with Vibram soles so they last longer.
Do they change without any extra charges?
@@danielthamm No. I haven't had mine done yet, but you'll pay.
I have had mine for two years and wear them everyday and, they don’t look that bad
My birkens have seen over a year of hard wear and the sole is barely worn at all. I don't know people wear them out so fast.
they drag their feet when they walk
Exactly , soles generally wear from the toe, ask a guy who grew up in third world and made it to first 😂
They don’t pick their feet up. Same reason they be walking all loud and shit.
Dragging their feet on sidewalks and asphalt
Different qualities
I forgot to mention that you should not wait till it wears to the cork get a cobbler to replace the sole before that
Not having it had mine a year , and still look brand new
This guy stopping his moving car with the heel of his Birks 😂😆
I had the same experience, brother. Wore them for two months and completely falling apart. If you’re planning to wear these daily, I wouldn’t recommend that. Seems to retain moisture and causing it to wear out even faster
The heel is the first thing to go. I see this often. I would take it to a repair shop and have them put a thicker durable piece on the heel to make it last longer
I bought one today n the seller has given me a sprayed to spray on the top of the sole of the sandal if my feet or sole sweats to avoid blackening or darkening of the sole.
If you don't drag your feet when you walk they will last a lot longer. I have a pair that 1 wear 24-7 and have had them for 10+ years
I don't disbelieve you and I don't disagree with you either. I just happen to think that I have a relatively normal gait. I'm testing the Birkenstock EVA sandals right now, so we'll see how they compare. Thanks for watching,
What I did was stick masking tape around the heel then applied Shoe-Goo to build up the heel part. Surprisingly, the fix lasted longer than the original rubber.
Nice!
@@TheMotomuras Yes. When the Shoe-Goo dried it was a harder rubber--almost like tupperware. It gets scratches but it takes a while to erode. Still going strong after two years. Btw I learned this trick from the Internet.
@@gilbertcunanan3978thank you for passing this tip on
Bro did you walk on sandpaper I have went in ocean w mine and they look new besides for big toe and print left
Just 2 months of full-time RV living.
Best footwear❤😊
Shoulda used contact rubber cement to attach another piece of rubber to the soles when they were new. U can purchase sheets of rubber everywhere.
Yes they’re worth it bc of the unique footbed. Pretty much the only footwear I can wear comfortably bc of my bunion issues
Try barefoot shoes since the toebox is the shape of your toes, not pointed like most shoes. They will allow your toes to spread out naturally and hopefully return your big toe to it's natural position. Be cautious though, if you're not used to being barefoot all the time, barefoot shoes are like a gym workout for your feet, and you don't go to the gym and bench your own weight on the first day. There is plenty of information on transitioning safely.
I'd love to know what people suggest as alternatives. I'd be fine paying more if they're really going to last
My birks were not durable. They broke down after a couple of months of light indoor use!!
Rainbow sandals ftw
You can have every part of the sandal replaced, the heel will wear down but you can replace it for less than a new pair of sandals
My 3years Birkenstock look way newer than your 2months 😅 everyday wear 😢
Yeah… I’m trying the Birk EVAs now.
In india we have a brand 'woodland'.
Its like brand new even a year of rough use.
What model do you suggest for daily& durable
@@RUTUMA Actually I never seen a everyday shoe by them so I would suggest you to use other brands
@@RUTUMA try Luna sandals for everyday wear they great lots of room for your toes to move individually one note give it some time to adjust since they are zero drop barefoot sandals
My husband uses same woodland sandals for 8 years....looking like brand new even now... But he wont use it in rainy season at all
I love my Boston’s.
I use em around the house and just to the grocery store really.
But the soles are just about done after around a year and a half.
The suede cleans up good too.
But I will say $160+tax is steep. And they’re never on sale. Unless it’s a hideous color.
Considering getting a thicker Vibram sole put on instead of the same cheap rubber.
Yeah I just got a pair and thinking about getting a Vibrams sole placed on mine when I have to repair the sole.
I sell these for a living, DO NOT go by the size on the box womens 5 =35 6=36 7=37 etc you should have foot in the cup about an inch or 2 at the front also make sure your re sealing your cork around the out side once that shine dulls 0ut of your a 9/12 you would be a 41
At least you can get them resoled, as long as you don't wear the original sole down too far, to the point it ruins the cork. Take them or ship them to the nearest cobbler, and they may even suggest a leather heel or something comparable, if that part seems to wear out quicker for you. I love mine so far, and it does make me happy that they'll probably last me a VERY long time, just like the Red Wing boots I own. Habana Oiled leather is by far the best color in my opinion.
Thanks for the good suggestions. I’ll keep it in mind for the future. I tossed them already, but I’m trying the Birkenstock EVA sandals right now.
That's a 10 in US women's size by the way. Its a Men's 8.
Good eye! I broke out the measuring tape. My sandals are ~10.5 inches in length, from tip to tip. The Internet says that’s normal for someone who wears a men’s 9.5 shoe.
I would also suggest an alternate shoe besides your Arizona. Even when they were bought by a diff firm the OG designs still have the corkbed that makes them comfortable once broken in. I also condition the leather, apply cork sealer once i noticed it thinning out. The outsole you can have replaced by a sturdier one. If you have an alternate shoe you can clean the insole( sanding paper was the best process I've seen so far than baby wipes).
Thanks for the tips!
The same thing happened to mine within a month, cuz just like you I wear them a lot, I don't even want to wear them in public anymore
I’ve had mine for 3 months and they look brand new 🤷🏻♀️
i got my 7 years and still look like new....i don't know what those people doing
That wear was in how much time?! My very first pair of Arizonas I bought over 20 years ago are in way better condition. They’re not even close to in need of any repair.
It was ~2 months of almost full-time wear. I think your story sounds similar to people I know who’ve had their sandals for years and years.
They don’t last like they used to, I used to wear mine for over 10 years and they’d be in great condition. Now after a year the sole is worn, the cork is cracked.. 😢
Oh hell no 😮 what are you doing that these sandals look like that??! Mine are 6 yrs old and still look new
2 months of full-time RV living. 4-5 dog walks per day, frequently on dirt and gravel.
I never comment on TH-cam, but I have to! I have a pair of Arizonas that completely broke down at month 3, where the back of the sole (as depicted here) came apart from the glue, and the side strap tore away from the bed. I would reco finding a higher quality pair that is tested :) 1/5 Rating :)
😮
Gosh some folks walk like they want to destroy the earth
LOL
Maybe it is because you got the soft version not the original one.
🤷🏻♂️ I’m trying the Birkenstock EVA sandals now.
A 41 is not a 10 or even a 9 its probably close to a 26.5 which technically is 8.5
They’re ~10.5 inches in length, which is normal for someone who wears 9.5 men’s shoes in the U.S.
Are you adjusting the straps correctly, check with Birkenstock on how to wear them. I walk and travel all over and mine that are 5years old look less worn than your pair. It looks as though you are dragging your heels, Birkenstocks are meant to help your walk, foot health and posture.
Solo es precio es premium!!
Suicoke is best. Try it if you want optimum quality
Thanks for the recommendation.
Raise your feet up higher people, what are you 190yo? My Granma’s 85, she has perfect soles on every shoe she got
🤣 Sometimes I feel 190 years old, that’s the truth.
How do you use it? do you udr your foot as brakes riding your bike????
😂
Damn bruh
My 1-year update drops on Friday.
I mean i like to have multiple pairs of shoes and bby them give each shoe a break you got give them a chance to air out and wipe down once in a while
Makes perfect sense! Except for us. 😂 We live FT in a travel trailer. We either wear sandals or hiking shoes, due to limited space. We prefer utility over aesthetic.
I want birkenstock so bad
I would recommend doing some of the things people have suggested in the comments after you buy them. It should extend the life of the sandals. 👍🏼
My man used them as brakepads😂
😂😂😂
You can repair them 😉
Do you have a beach nearby, it seems that sand can do wear them out easily!
We travel all around the U.S., so we do walk on sand (at the beach and in the desert) and dirt and dust, etc.
How much does it cost to get them resoled by Birkenstock? That would factor into the purchase price for me.
That, I don’t know. But let me spare you from reading a lot of other comments. The consensus seems to be that if you take good care of them (upkeep) and perhaps even take preventative actions (like reinforcing the soles), they can last 5+ years. We did not do that (and never claimed to), and our sandals
lasted 1 year before we tossed them.
@@TheMotomuras Thanks for the info.
Try JOOL ❤ brand Much durable & comfy 👍
You cam resole them yourself. Just buy another sole and shoe glue. In fact they're supposed to be resold.
gu clogs is cheaper… difference is not as far though😊
Of course, if you use them to mine coal and walk into a lake, they would look like this. Because it is not normal wear and tear after 2 months! That's for sure! I don't know what he was doing in them, but it is impossible to wear them down like this in 2 months!
I have had mine for 5 years, use them almost every day, and my pair does not look anything like his!
Sorry, but this video stinks to me.
Sorry, don’t know what to tell you. It was two months of FT RV living with multiple dog walks per day (but no hiking). RV parks and campgrounds typically have a lot of dirt and gravel in or around them. You may not like what you see, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true. I have no reason to lie-I even bought Birks again; right now I’m trying their EVA sandals.
i've never seen them used outside. why would you do that?
You mean outside on the dirt?? We don’t wear them for hiking. Just normal activities, like walking the dogs and running errands.
@@TheMotomuras where im from we only use them inside. they are inside shoes that teachers and doctors etc uses. i maybe use them if im going out with the trash. never seen them being used as a day to day shoe.
Bro you must drag your feet when you walk
Good point. Could be that I shuffle too much. But I don’t consciously do so.
I didn't hear where you got them, but I don't think they are original
Bought them from REI, so I doubt that they’re fake. My wife bought hers around the same time from an independent shoe store, and her sandals also deteriorated. The big difference, I think, is that we wore them for full-time RV living-with no upkeep. Not regular city wear with upkeep (as many viewers like to mention). So our sandals had to deal with dirt, gravel, rocks, and weather all the time.
Were you climbing mount everest in these! 😅
You would think so. 😂
@TheMotomuras Hahaa!! Yes I did!! 😅👋💫
I have the same ones but they are not that texture and they have a cheetah print
So in other words, not the same
Bro was in combat with the Russians wearing Birkenstocks
😂
Birkenstock got bought by a big company and thats why the price is getting higher and the quality worse
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
Euro size 41 is not a men’s 10 😂
Regardless, my sandals are ~10.5 inches in length, from tip to tip. The Internet says that’s normal for someone (me) who wears a men’s 9.5 shoe.
Any cobbler can replace the sole for a pretty cheap rate, and many offer a sturdier rubber sole as an option.
With good shoe soles, the more comfortable they are (softer), the shorter they last. So it makes sense to have the softer sole at first with a shoe brand famous for being uncomfortable at first and being easily repaired. I wish the website would offer an option for a sturdier rubber sole at first, so the first resoling doesn’t need to happen for some time.
Very informative, thank you!
Well, I tried the $20 Target brand knockoffs and they lasted about three months - they are falling apart now but I just bought the real Birks so we'll see if they're worth it...
Update?
How are they now?
My bad guys, I did not see your comments... 3 months in and these guys are solid, the knockoffs give/flex a lot and my feet left huge impressions in the sole... the real ones feel solid, flexible but rigid, my feet left zero impression... I also stepped on a nail and pulled it out - there is no hole where the nail pulled out...
Some times you really do get what you pay for, I stand by the real Birkys
In my opinion Birkenstock use very cheap material in sole
Does it come in All Black with the heal strap
toddsnyder.com sells all-black Birkenstock Arizonas, but they don’t have heel straps.
'Arizona' with a heel strap is called the 'Milano'
How much did you pick these up for?
I believe they were $157 with tax from REI in NorCal. (Not 100% bc I no longer have the receipt. It’s possible I bought a small item at the same time too.)
@@TheMotomurasthanks for the quick response 😊
It's not worth it from the advancement of technology and cheaper discounts provided by other multinational companies.
Where are you walking in these shoes?? Two months you must be hiking
We travel FT in our RV, which means a lot of walking on dirt and gravel on nearly a daily basis. I never used them for any kind of serious hiking-my feet would not like that.
Is 41 size 10 or 8.5
I wear men’s shoes size 9.5 US. The Birkenstock EVA sandals I recently bought are size 42. So I suggest trying on different sizes to find what best accommodates your feet. However, it’s also possible that I bought sandals that had been placed in the wrong box since customers try them on in the store.
I know a guy that had them for 4 years and they look much better than yours
I’ve worn them pretty consistently since purchasing them, and thanks to RV life, they see dirt and gravel. But still, they’re wearing out faster than I thought they would for such a premium brand.
@@TheMotomurasCobblers will repair them, saves you the money of getting a new pair, cork repair is like 15-25
@@DankestSupplymy "cobbler" charged $90 got new sole & footbed...$30 got just the sole 🤷🏽
my FitFlops have lasted about 5yrs and counting
Water proof a Na bro .?
Personally, I would not wear them in water-like to go swimming or take a shower. But if you get caught in the rain, they’ll be okay. They need more time to dry out, as opposed to a plastic or fully synthetic slipper.
What’s the “BS” in Arizona BS?
Acronym for Birkenstock.
@@TheMotomuras Thanks for the prompt response.
May I trouble you with one more question? I ordered the Birkenstock Arizona from the official Birkenstock website. Natural leather, regular width, regular firm footbed.
The size is perfect. So is the position of the straps. I can’t make it any tighter nor looser than what it is now. When I do either, I literally can’t walk.
Problem is - the skin of my left foot is literally getting peeled off slowly by the strap (the arch area / longer strap area).
Any tips?
I tried wearing a thin socks but it’s not comfortable at all.
I tried blister tapes. But it’s too thick, it messes up the strap.
What can I do?
@@hey.maverickSorry to hear that. We may need someone with more experience with Birkenstock sandals to weigh in here. My straps are a little loose, even though I use the closest/tightest holes.
mine are better look and have 9 years use
Over priced
These might be knock offs
I suppose that’s always a possibility, but I’d be surprised since I bought them at an REI store.
What the **** are you doing in your Birkenstocks is the real question they lasted me 5 years and they still look good new yours looks terrible
🤣
Those are cooked
I’m still wearing them. Perhaps I should make an update.
They are so, sorry - ugly
🤣 To each his own.
