    No hate just a heads up neither of the fish you added are suitable to be with Axolotls.
    A much better option would be a big shoal of White Cloud Mountain minnows. They'll hangout higher up the water and are better suited temp/behaviour wise. Plus when they've matured a big group will look impactful too (like you realistically could have between 100-200 easily in that size tank, plus makes a good yt title). And you can get them in different colour forms too.
    Serpae at the very least need 68f to do well long term and are know for being very confident and aggressive fin nippers and chances are they'll attack the Axolotls gills. And the X-ray tetras need at least 71.6f to do well long term. Again these temps are the minimum these species should be at to be healthy long term, they might live a few months/a yr or two at the colder temps but most tetras easily live 10yr or longer if kept well.
    And the Axolotls need cold water to do well long term, assume you got a chiller on as so much condensation formed in the tank?
    They shouldn't be above 64f to keep them healthy long term but with them the colder the better really (in the wild if often gets down to 39f) and at least for me I personally don't like them above 60f if indoors (so it gives me some leeway/time to take measures if it starts getting warmer then this) though my breeding group live in a pond outside which gets about an inch or two of ice over it every winter and I'll still see them feeding under the ice 😂🤣

    x ray tetras require water temperatures of around 75-80 degrees f while axolotls require 60-64 degrees f, also the tetras might nibble your axolotls gills and slime coat. axolotls are a species only animal meaning it is best for them to be kept only with other axolotls to avoid the axolotls gills being eaten or all of your fish being eaten by the axolotls.

    Would have gone with Variable platyfish (Xiphophorus variatus), as they come from the same roundabout area, they are more chill water tolerant 65-79 °F, full range of different colours, breed easy so doesn't matter if a couple get picked off. Typical tetra temp for peek heath is 72-76 °F, typical axolotl temp for peek heath 60-65 °F, so some aren't getting what's needed.

    hey paul! i love watching your videos, but i just wanted to clarify that Tetras aren’t the best option of fish to keep with axolots only because their temperature requirements are different being tropical! but also One other thing to keep in mind when keeping fish with axolotls is that those long flowy gills can start to look like food to just about any fish who's hungry enough.

    • @savannagoodwin4660
      @savannagoodwin4660 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know it makes for good "CON-tent", But the water will be too cold for most of those fish since they are all Amazonian fish. They will probably not last long (X Rays at about 75°-80°F, Serpaes are 72°-79°F, and Neons 75°-80° F) .. Should of went with something like Sunset Variatus Platy, Rainbow Shiners, Endlers, Clown Killifish, White Cloud Mountain Minnows, goldfish, and some Barbs.

    X-ray tetras as of what I’ve read like warm tropical waters like 75°-82° and axolotl’s thrive in the mid to low 60°’s so I wouldn’t recommend these two as a pair. Also I’ve had axolotls for about 5 years now and I’ve noticed they’re more opportunistic eaters. Meaning no matter how frequent or how much you feed them they still look for food.

  • @adamski7956

    The axolotls are so cool

  • @Eva6904
    @Eva6904 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Once the Axolotls eat these, and trust me, they will. You will notice that they are a lot more active with live food in the thank.
    If you still want fish in the tank I'd opt for Endler guppies or minnows instead. Both are much more cold tolerant and will not be slowed down as much in the cold Axolotl tank as tetras will, thus making them a harder pray item for the axolotls.
    Also, they will be safe for the Axolotls to eat since they will go down easily, no spiney bits.
    If enough of the Endlers survive long enough, they will even breed, in spite of the cold water.

    10:46 those are cardinal tetras in the photo. Cardinals are whole bottom color red while neons are only half bottom red. IMO only white cloud or golden white cloud minnows could thrive in same cold water requirements as axolotls. Those tetras might be looking ok now but will not be thriving in the long run.

    I really like your content thanks for making so many videos for us to watch and this last Axolotl tank with the tetras looks really good. And don't feel weird about liking the smell of fish food
