I just received my current Royal Blue Saturday. It is identical to the one I had in the '80s. Much like this one but with American Flyer Lines and the B&O herald on the tender. I discovered today that I already had the three cars and transformer that completed this #48T set shown in the 1948 catalogue.

Very nice! So yours has the separately applied handrails? Does yours also have the separate draw bar and trailing truck along with indented tender sides (first version) or is it a drawbar/trailing truck combination?

@@AustinsAmericanFlyertrains Mine does not have the indented sides on the tender, it does have the combination drawbar/trailing truck. It works perfectly, but is missing the side rods that should rum from the piston chamber to the middle set of drive wheels. Those are apparently hard to find.

Fantastic video. The Royal Blue is one of my favorite trains. Thank you for sharing.

Has anyone seen the royal gray? It was a set made, I think in 1940 with a 2-4-2 wheel configuration but the same bullet engine shell and tender with gray tin coaches in 3rail. I saw this set converted to 2 rail post war with its original wheel configuration ( postwar pulmor wheels ), It came with a 5 lb weight inside and the strange valve gear was retained. (CASG)

Nice video, but why show 2 different New Haven Pacifics and not show the C&NW Pacific (28x series)?
