im a freshman in high school nad i am truly inspired by these people. I broke five minutes today in my first track meet of the year and I'm very happy =)
This video and song gets me so fired up to go and race. I will run for Slippery Rock University starting this fall. I can't wait to put that home green jersey on for the first time. GO ROCK!
Almost have this video memorized I've watched it so many times....When my friends and I go on our daily 10 miler we often find ourselves repeating lines from this video. Truly Inspirational!
The Song used was from the movie "Rudy". It's about a football player that's short (like Pre) and has his determination to get him to his goal. Great movie
this is one of those videos that non-runners think is nothing special, but any real runner will be either crying or running (or possibly both) at the end of this video, nicely done.
Imagine an Olympic final 5000m race. Imagine that the three greatest distance runners of all time were in that one race. The greatest 1500m runner, at the very peak of his career. The greatest 5k and 10k runner ever, who is poised for his breakout. And the greatest marathoner of all time, an almost unknown who will one day run the first sub 2 hour marathon. Imagine all three sprinting for Olympic medals over the last 250 meters. Now go to 3:06 and watch it.
Fantastic video, many thanks for posting it! I've been distance running for 28 years and can only dream of running like these guys, but it's still inspiring.
i saw billy mills at a track clinic i went to and he spoke to us about that race. it was amazing to here the first hand perspective of his finish and what was going through his mind. Greatest finish of all time.
amazing compilation! i love running. the prefontaine video you show at the beginning is one of my favorites. prefontaine is my favorite runner of all time, truly an american inspiration.
Great video! Very inspirational! I watch it before my runs when I want to get motivated. These guys were SOLID, and had guts!!! Here's one for ya... "Far better it is to dare mighty things than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Teddy Roosevelt
Now there's sport -- individual physiology against individual physiology. Thanks for the compilation, and I agree with others here in that this is just full of chills and tears of seeing such physical accomplishment.
2004 1500 final, one of my favorite races of all time. Two of my favorite runners throwing down a great race. I still wish Lagat had won though. I think he deserves a gold medal.
@rmante06 , The song is from the Movie Rudy so it's called "Rudy's Theme" Composed b y Jerry Goldsmith IT's an awesome movie about a small guy (LIKE PRE!) that has determination to go play for Notre Dames football team. Yo will not regret watching it.)
Whenever I watch this video, I am always upset and depressed when I see Pre miss out on the Bronze. But when I see Billy Mills with the greatest kick ever, I ALWAYS seem to be inspired and happy:)
billy mills trained for that he visualized himself winning by doing 100m sprints. it's just inspiring pretty much if you have a kick it's easier to win against someone better than you
El Guerrouj - what an outstanding talent and to think that his mile and 1500 world records are still standing since the 1990s.

A good video! Billy Mills was a hell of a runner including all the runners, but the best finish has to go to him...
