Damodara Lila: Krishna during Damodar Lila:
Lord Krishna was at the age of three years and two months . The lilas in Gokul include Putana Vadh (six days), Shakat Bhanjan (three months), Naamkaran Sanskaar (hundredth day), Trinavarta Vadh (one year), and Yamala-Arjun Uddhar and Damodar lila at three years and two months old.
Mother Yashoda's Damodara-lila. Damodara, as one of Krishna's many names,4 is traceable to the incident of Yashoda binding Him with a cord (dama) around the belly (udara) when He was an infant. Damodara thus means “having a rope on the abdomen,” as described in Srimad-Bhagavatam.
Krishna called Damodara.
The name, Damodar, is derived from the Sanskrit words 'dam' (cord) and 'udhar' (belly), and signifies the cord that Lord Krishna's mother tied to his waist to keep him in check when he was little.
Reincarnation of Yashoda.
Lord Krishna promised her that she would get that chance of seeing his wedding when Krishna incarnates again as Venkateshvara in the Kali Yuga. In the Kali Yuga, Yashoda was born as Vakula Devi, as the mother of Venkateshvara and witnessed the nuptials between Venkateshvara and Princess Padmavathi.
The significance of Damodar lila.
This name got its significance from Lord Krishna's Damodar Lila, a transcendental pastime where Yashoda Maiya ties him to an Okhal. It is believed that remembering this delightful pastime of the lord and offering a ghee lamp to Lord Damodar during the Kartik month is highly auspicious and rewarding.
The meaning of Damodara.
Damodar is the other name of Lord Krishna. ' Dam' means rope and 'udar' means waist. One whose waist was tied with a rope by mother yashoda is Damodar.
