    I've interpreted the Sierpinski triangle as audio data before, but not as musical notes. This was cool. It's not a 1:1 chromatic scale; when I did that sounded bad, so I shifted the notes' pitch minimally until the scale sounded good.

      I think having self-repeating fractals in music seems like a cool idea in general. Because there's always those patterns that it keeps using and returning to that are familiar. I'm sure music theory is already aware of such concepts so this is more outsider art I guess.

    Come on, tell the truth, you stretched the triangle so that it would sound good in a major scale.
    Put it on a chromatic note basis with pixels of the triangle actually touching eachother and let us hear it.

    • @RandomDavis
      @RandomDavis  ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I'm not lying. The notes are right there plainly in the open. I'm openly and proudly stating that I did shift the notes to a scale that wasn't just chromatic, because when I just did chromatic it sounded bad. It's still the Serpinski triangle, just stretched a bit so it sounds good. That's the point of this. The point isn't that this is a rigid 1:1 transfer. I never claimed it was. Why are you assuming this was in bad faith? If you can't, then I'm going to have to remove this comment for its baseless accusations of me somehow not telling the truth.

    • @mataloger
      @mataloger ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RandomDavis I'm not assuming anything is in bad faith. It's not that the Sierpinski triangle sounds good, you made this Sierpinski triangle-like shape sound good by placing it over a Major scale - the Sierpinski triangle's pixels all touch eachother, this is now just something similar to it at this stage. You could put any shape without vertical lines that is symmetrical on the major scale and it would sound good.

    • @xelnagazchild
