Apparently, and this is a true story, that when Isaac (drummer and singer) came off after this performance, Bono said to him “you guys were really good”, to which Isaac replied “thanks, U2”
So chuffed for them, it's been such a long time since such that amount of energy and raw punk attitude has been given a spot in the limelight. Well done boys xox
I went to the recording of Jools Holland and was so bored that I fell asleep. That was until these guys came on. I loved them. They brought so much energy to the show. Everyone else felt so tame.
Just seen these guys on Glasto - absolutely awesome! You wouldn't want to be the band that has to follow them. They make The White Stripes look like a vicar's tea party.
the music of the white stripes is as simplistic as possible, not the equipment, sorry for not clarifying. Jack White's music for the white stripes is all based around the number 3, limiting his options which led to more creative thought while writing. here's a cool article that explains it better www.rollingstone.com/music/news/white-on-white-20050908
What I find mad is my dad probs had this on the tv and I probably said somethig like "Ew who would listen to all that shouting when you could listen to 1D", little did I know only 5 years later I'd see them live and they'd become one of my favourite live acts.
My new favourite band, totally awesome and amazing, can't wait for the album, pre-ordered straight away...Come to Brighton really want to see this band live..
I heard this song on the radio about a year ago and I some reason remember the line "watch out for those kids they'll tear you apart!" and some reason I found it really funny!
Ashamed to say it took me until seeing them support Foo Fighters this year to discover them, but bloody hell if they didn't rip the roof off the place, phenomenal energy,
Dear BBC, please, please, please put up Gang Of Four's 'At Home He's A Tourist' from Later 2009 (I think) - a classic performance of a total classic song. Many thanks in advance, hoping.
Comparing Slaves & U2 is like comparing yoghurt & gunpowder. Pointless. Slaves are in their infancy and show real potential. Dirty, gritty, harsh and bloody exciting. U2 exist on a completely different scale. Great line up on that show this week.
He's not left handed - he's playing a Fender Pawn Shop Super-Sonic - it's a left handed body and neck wired by Fender to be a right handed guitar, giving it the 'quirky' appearance of it looking like he's playing a left handed guitar upside down - a reverse Hendrix, really.
You guys should play at Blackpool's Rebellion festival in 2015. Happy fucking days if you do.... Someone mentioned bands with stand up drummers... Try Jesus and the Mary Chain, Age of Chance or more recently Glasvegas. To name but 3.
this is about the best a mundane show like jools Holland can muster, it's boring, thousands better bands that are not mainstream enough to get on tv or radio
No but it's a bit of a yawn and I think they'd get a bit more attention if they tried something different - I didn't say they need to change, and I certainly didn't say they need to do anything to impress me. They seem to be a part of a big revivalist culture, whether it's the Blues revival from bands like Alabama Shakes and The Black Keys, or attempts to revive Vinyl or revival of the high street just as people thought it was about to see it's last day. Lots of people want answers to problems in society and they're looking to old solutions to find them.
Apparently, and this is a true story, that when Isaac (drummer and singer) came off after this performance, Bono said to him “you guys were really good”, to which Isaac replied “thanks, U2”
Is he jewish
this drum kit and a guitar duo knocked all the other groups off their pedestals - the show's highlight wasn't U2 at all, it was SLAVES.
100%
I love that this came straight after sam smiths performance.
Sam Smith loves there album. He it was a banging driving album
Lmao what a MadLads . Very cool
So chuffed for them, it's been such a long time since such that amount of energy and raw punk attitude has been given a spot in the limelight. Well done boys xox
Giving it 110%.
Absolutely brilliant performance.
Amazing performance. Singer / Drummer must be knackered after that!
I
Jamie James yeah he puts a proper shift in doesnt he haha
I went to the recording of Jools Holland and was so bored that I fell asleep. That was until these guys came on. I loved them. They brought so much energy to the show. Everyone else felt so tame.
What a powerhouse! Raw energy. Best band that night on Jools Holland, better than Interpol and way better than U2.
o
doobieman69 Not keen then?
misterbamboostick Slaves are awesome! I'm a massive Interpol fan but I must admit their performance wasn't as good this time around.
Thats why I said 'way better'. :)
Punk is not dead!
No its not
This aged perfectly with their name change
Just seen these guys on Glasto - absolutely awesome! You wouldn't want to be the band that has to follow them. They make The White Stripes look like a vicar's tea party.
+Mr3sheds That's because Isaac can actually play the drums properly.
JJ H seeing as the white stripes were deliberately as simplistic as possible you cant really make a comparison between the two
Someone Something you think that two drums and two cymbals isn't as simplistic as possible? Haha

Someone Something Yeah I am a fan of the white stripes 👍 was a bit confused by ur comment
Criminal that they only got to do one song. You owned it lads.
What I find mad is my dad probs had this on the tv and I probably said somethig like "Ew who would listen to all that shouting when you could listen to 1D", little did I know only 5 years later I'd see them live and they'd become one of my favourite live acts.
Best debut band, one of the best new bands around, predicting a massive 2015 for them
My new favourite band, totally awesome and amazing, can't wait for the album, pre-ordered straight away...Come to Brighton really want to see this band live..
You guys are the best performance that nite. Rollins and Rotten combined in a truely great track. Hope to see you in Holland.
Watched these guy live before Jamie T, they were really good! so much bass coming form the drums :)
I heard this song on the radio about a year ago and I some reason remember the line "watch out for those kids they'll tear you apart!" and some reason I found it really funny!
I loved this, best performance of the night.
How refreshing. Love love love. Can't wait to see/hear more of these guys :-) x
Love this, gives 110% with every word! Good memories
Wanna break stuff now

hahaha
Saw this last night on BBC and loved it!
The best thing I've seen on Jools Holland for a long time
Most exciting band of the decade so far. Would say century but we got The Strokes in 01
Well said!
Look up the best band that never was, Janice Graham Band.
Ashamed to say it took me until seeing them support Foo Fighters this year to discover them, but bloody hell if they didn't rip the roof off the place, phenomenal energy,
The Clash would be proud!
Really?
+ghettowinnebago Nah
joe strummer is turning in his grave
what a surprise, saw these on jools last night, so fucking raw!
absolute maximum sounds coming from that set up - smashed it out the fucking park, respect.
"The freshest thing on the often turgid Jools Holland menu this year by a country mile".
Slaves rule. Out loud.
LOVE THEM. especially Isaac's pants
Issacs hands flapping about and the outfit is giving me Ian Curtis Transmission vibes 👌💯
Outstanding performance woooow
Shame you only had 1 song to play, Beauty Quest would have been a great 2nd song to rip the place up! Well Done!
Totally agree. Stole the show. This is what music needs right now. Fresh, raw, brilliant.
If yall like this I highly recommend also listening to an Aussie band called The Chats.
Killer energy.
j'adore ce son de marboul du crâne ils me fait sauter mon ciboulot c'est dingue
Very dynamic!Like them!
superb, best standout performance since Drenge were on Later
It's great when young bands turn things on its head
great tune
Dear BBC, please, please, please put up Gang Of Four's 'At Home He's A Tourist' from Later 2009 (I think) - a classic performance of a total classic song. Many thanks in advance, hoping.
Was at this recording of the show.

Comparing Slaves & U2 is like comparing yoghurt & gunpowder. Pointless. Slaves are in their infancy and show real potential. Dirty, gritty, harsh and bloody exciting. U2 exist on a completely different scale. Great line up on that show this week.
I love you.
I love it! =)
Good job lads!

TOTALLY FUCKIN AWESOME
yeaaaa brilliant.

Awesome SLAVES!!!!
Wondered when the pub landlord was going to get in to singing.
This is what 100% looks like !
badass
Sings like the guy from gallows
Do you mean their old vocalist Frank Carter? Yeah, I can see that.
Jack Reid Frank blows them out the water lmao
i was thinking the same thing
sounds like bloody johnny rotten
wo nice 1 lads
It's Lightning Bolt that you can listen to!
Classic
Sorry I'm late Jules. My boss wouldn't let me out of work early
Why are left handed guitar players always so fricking cool?!

Someone mentioned bands with stand up drummers... Try Jesus and the Mary Chain, Age of Chance or more recently Glasvegas. To name but 3.
oi. STRAY CATS. wrote the fookin manual on stand up drummers.
marktarmannpiano Slim Jim couldn't friggin spell so I he hardly think he wrote the book. :/

Ear Pleasure :)

THEY'LL TEAR YOU APAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART! HEEEEEEEEEEY!
fucking brilliant..
FUCK YEAH....sorry for swearing Jools. But FUCK! YEEEAAAAHHHH
at last! something with a Ball or 4
fucking quality !!!!!
Compared with the other talent, they were noisy and harsh but served to give a certain contrast which made you appreciate the main acts so much more
That's so much worse than just saying you think they were shit. People actually listen to punk you know
If you think their performance was worse than Interpol you really need to get your ears and eyes checked :/
James Hodson And play it in there mid 40's
Geistgaming Interpol aren't even bad though, this is just legitamately good punk revival music
James Hodson agreed but I just felt it was so lacklustre. :( made me sad.
Isaac looks a bit like Tom Hanks with his hair like that xD
If you guys like this check out Traumahelikopter!
Thankfully continuing, albeit under another name: SOFT PLAY (a Sh*t name imho!). But, HEY, the Music goes on 🙂
this is about the best a mundane show like jools Holland can muster, it's boring, thousands better bands that are not mainstream enough to get on tv or radio
Miguel brought me here
Sound mix is dreadful! They really didn't do these guys justice!
Fking Naughty!
I wish they didn't follow the 'Landan' 80s/90s skinhead style so much. They're lyrics are decent but the skinhead gang thing is old news.
No but it's a bit of a yawn and I think they'd get a bit more attention if they tried something different - I didn't say they need to change, and I certainly didn't say they need to do anything to impress me.

+tj2104 Well hopefully they are just a temporary solution, an opening act, here to excite us for something new and of substance.
+tj2104 yawn
+tj2104 They aren't looking to be a mainstream band, their image reflects them, not what sells well.
+Josh B I can accept that, but it seems a big regurgitated from the past.
Feed the Mantaray
JEB JEB JEB O KOCIOŁ XD
I like how take away the sticks and isaac looks like he's a flailing child screaming for his toys - punkalicious
