I know Josh & Cotton have played it sporadically a few times; but I'd definitely LOVE to see a full-on "Pro & Noob" series for Dauntless like they did for Wild Hearts and a few other games.
Funny how history repeats itself. Back then, Dauntless (free Early Access) released a little before World got released on PC (Dauntless EA in May, World in August). Game saw a lot of players jump into Dauntless then for a MonHun light experience before everyone jumped ship to World. Now, Dauntless is releasing their big update at the end of the year, which will give them at least 2 months before Wilds releases. Guess I'm going back to check out Dauntless for a bit.
i love dauntless, it dosent have the same complexity as MH so its pretty easy to pick up and play, i also love the basic souls dodge to avoid attack, ive been waiting for this update
I love and respect Dauntless for continuing to be a substantial MH-like to keep us busy until the next MH while actually slowly improving itself in quality
They're addicted to resetting player progress when resets aren't advertised as a regular event and loot boxes are possibly the best thing they could have done for monetization because of how poorly they've managed it inn the past. It is unlikely there is an update they could release that would bring me back.
I found Dauntless really fun and it introduced me to Monster Hunter. But now I barely even play it because of the lack of updates and the fact that they keep delaying Awakening.
I’ve never played dauntless. I have it on my wishlist on steam. If it drops before wilds with the update. I’ll definitely check it out. It seems fun on the surface.
Only thing I'm gonna hate is the cells being destroyed. Not being able to put them in weapons or lanterns? Alright, I can see why, but making them break when replaced or removed? That's not gonna work for me cuz I spent so damn long getting cells I want and I still only have like 4 +2s since starting playing last week. Plus I can never make up my mind what build I want and that seems really limiting if cells break when I want to change it to something more specific or more fun.
I haven't played much since that last major update, but I'm looking forward to it. I mostly used the axe and hammer. They're both super fun, and I never could decide between them.
This was our (me and my SO) gateway in the monster hunting genre. We had a ton of fun playing this but after reaching end-game and getting the Dauntless title, it started to feel lacking. That's why we decided to move to MH:W. Great game for beginners.
Before people start going "Ooh Dauntless Bad Monster Hunter better" please realise that a game can be the same genre, and in general trying out the game dosent hurt anyone. Getting to meet a whole new rostor of monsters, new mechanics and locales, try out a whole new set of weapons with there own things. I started playing this game during the MH World content drought after AT Nergigante and have been a commited player of both MH and Dauntless ever since. I would even help people get into the game if i wasnt in this TH-cam Comment.
Great game. Wasn't originally made for Switch. The lag is crazy at times. Favorite weapons are pike, sword, chain blades. Crudge may be like a crab (I think?). Could get bow, and a pet at some point. But we lose a few things in the gathering hub.
As someone who stayed mainly melee only because I never enjoyed the ammo system in MH... Playing Dauntless with the pistols kept it fresh for ages, while it's not MH, it's definitely the best similar game after the few that did come out a while back
Haven't looked at this game in like 3-4yrs since a huge overhaul killed the experience for me forcing a near full retcon of my progress so i just gave up on it.
thanks for the heads up on the steam release, I knew about awakening and was already excited for it but now... yeah, you can't keep me from installing this on my steamdeck... :)
I played Dauntless a couple of months ago, and I had a blast, but I soon hit a big wall. First, the trial missions are tough for new players, but not for veterans. If you miss a day, the mission resets, and you either have to do it solo or ask for help. Second, the escalation bosses are a challenge. All the legendary gear is locked behind them, and the endgame content scales by player, so often the veterans solo it rather than forming a party. As a result, if new players want to access that endgame content, they need to learn how to solo it too. Otherwise, you'll get stuck. That's why I quit for good, but I’ll come back after the update to see if it’s worth it.
i had high hopes for dauntless but it seemed to be in a content draught forever, im glad theyre still working on it and hope they can maybe increase the size of the team to push more content out more quickly. it really is a good game there just isnt the same level of polish as the monster hunter series here yet and i hope it reaches that point someday
honestly its been a very long time since i last played it after claiming the rainbow crown after that i didn't have much reason to play though since its coming to steam i may as well play it again i wouldn't mind starting it all over again C:
dauntless was way too shallow for me when i tried it. shallow weapons, gear that was super boring with a few obvious best in slot options, terrible balancing and gameplay centered around grinding levels and resetting mindlessly. instead of having fun, everyone tried to speedrun lvl 20 to progress in the perk tree.
I play a toooooon of dauntless. I found it after playing monster hunter rise for 900 and was hooked Very fun underrated game. The kicker? It's literally free. Like people love to complain about it but it's like dude. It's a free game, the entire game is free.......🙄
You should cover god eater next. God eater 3 came out soon after world so i wouldnt be surprised if a god eater 4 comes out soon after wilds. Code Vein also takes place in the same universe and was quite well received. There are hints a new game may be coming soon since its been a while since god eater 3 and code vein but i would recommend god eater since its one of the few good MH "clones" (code vein is a souls like) but the similarites are very surface level and the games are quite different but still fun imo. Im playing through all the god eaters waiting for wilds.
God eater is pretty dope. Not nearly as good or polished as the monster hunter series but for an anime style monster hunting game. It definitely scratches the itch for a bit. And it has jiggle physics! 😂
When dauntless first released it did feel like it was just trying to cash in on worlds success but as it has gone through updates it does feel like an actual game in the hunting genre
Also how you still need to get on the newest bird Kemono in Wild Hearts, Tsukuyomi Edit; looks like Dauntless also has some new stuff since I last checked in
Dauntless is genuinely fun. Plus its free. Going to be checking it out very soon as per my usual "yearly check in". The harder bosses in the game very much feel a bit more 'raid'y with more intricate mechanics than monster hunter.
I quit the game because the updates destroyed the good systems we had to add better but WAY MORE TEDIOUS AND GRINDILY STUPID versions that killed everything I had built up prior so I saw no worth to playing when the game pulled a Destiny and screwed over everything I'd done prior.
Man this game is riding wilds’s coattails so hard just to stay relevant i mean I’m just gonna say it sure sounds like they saw wilds was doing dual-weapons so they copied
Dauntless announced weapon swapping on August 25th of last year, MH announced it in there 2nd trailer for Wilds. And theres many things Dauntless did first before MH did it
I know Josh & Cotton have played it sporadically a few times; but I'd definitely LOVE to see a full-on "Pro & Noob" series for Dauntless like they did for Wild Hearts and a few other games.
Hard agree
Lord I haven't heard about Dauntless in a WHILE. Surprised its still getting the updates, pleasant surprise!

I’m hoping Dauntless comes back better than ever. I could never get into Monster Hunter so Dauntless was my go to for a minute.
Also, i hope both this coverage and the steam release brings more attention to dauntless.
I been waiting for this update for 2 years

Good thing we'll be able to target farm cells (like one island will drop only one group of cells, another island will drop a different group, etc.).
I haven't played much since that last major update, but I'm looking forward to it. I mostly used the axe and hammer. They're both super fun, and I never could decide between them.
Good thing you can switch weapons in combat now

why is almost every video title "this changes everything" , i see that so often xD

Sucking off youtube
It's not in the title?
@@RageGamingVideos Sorry, i phrased that badly, its on the Thumbnail i meant^^
I mean, the update changes literally EVERYTHING in the game, so...
3:20 Hold up Cotton. That's 10/11 weapons. You missed one.
All in all, great vid
the other one is aether strikers
Here hoping they help it live up to its potential!!!!

Thanks for this video. I'm currently playing god eater 3 to sate my appetite but when I'm done with that I'll jump into dauntless again.
As someone who stayed mainly melee only because I never enjoyed the ammo system in MH... Playing Dauntless with the pistols kept it fresh for ages, while it's not MH, it's definitely the best similar game after the few that did come out a while back
My only concerns are weapon tokens and canisters. Other than that, I'm pretty excited.
Haven't looked at this game in like 3-4yrs since a huge overhaul killed the experience for me forcing a near full retcon of my progress so i just gave up on it.
Yeah, the reforged update was rough. Good thing they've made it a point to do away with that and all the bad systems it introduced.
thanks for the heads up on the steam release, I knew about awakening and was already excited for it but now... yeah, you can't keep me from installing this on my steamdeck... :)
One game I liked a lot was Wild Hearts. Unfortunately EA nipped the bud early as EA does, which sucks because it had a lot of potential.

Dauntless vs Monster Hunter just isn’t fair. lol 😂
I’ve only played this a bit but Wild Hearts, God Eater 3 and Toukiden 2 are also soild MH likes
Thanks for hearing me guys 😊😊
honestly its been a very long time since i last played it after claiming the rainbow crown after that i didn't have much reason to play though since its coming to steam i may as well play it again i wouldn't mind starting it all over again C:
I just wanna say wild hearts was actually really good and really fun but so many monster hunter fans wanted to hate it so it failed
This changes nothing...
Is it February yet?!?
This game has come a very long way from the first season
dauntless was way too shallow for me when i tried it. shallow weapons, gear that was super boring with a few obvious best in slot options, terrible balancing and gameplay centered around grinding levels and resetting mindlessly. instead of having fun, everyone tried to speedrun lvl 20 to progress in the perk tree.
The fortnite of Hunting games
Still play this game and ima be real way more people play it and i deff wasnt expecting that

I might come back but still upset for no new ranged weapon (bow)
I loved duatless but their last weapon rework made all the weapons waaaaaaaaay simpler, which was years ago at this pointI think
When dauntless first released it did feel like it was just trying to cash in on worlds success but as it has gone through updates it does feel like an actual game in the hunting genre
I hate the cell locking, just narrows all builds ugh....
Also how you still need to get on the newest bird Kemono in Wild Hearts, Tsukuyomi
Edit; looks like Dauntless also has some new stuff since I last checked in
World and Rise will hold us off till wilds not dauntless
So when is it tho next year or end of this year that's the question 😊😊😊😅
I would return if I could have brought over all my progress from EPIC Game Store 😢
2yrs between major updates is a hard sell
Not a great game but I had fun with it. Might get my kid to try it before MH Wilds comes out.
This was not a surprise we knew for a while

This new update changes everything........for the worse.
If i can connect my psn accounts to steam ill play was fun when i played it back in the days
This game dies when they changed chain blades
