Being a squadron vehicle this is a good opportunity for you to join my own squadron - search =Snazz= in War Thunder and it (hopefully) should come up! See you all there :)
I gotta say, the whole idea of stealth is going out the window when you bring the F-117 to any ground battle, missiles may not be able to touch it but it's going to be very obvious in anything except in a night battle. A black thingy against a clear blue sky seems pretty obvious to me.
Also, I understand the problem people have with immersion and time differences but I feel like if historical matchmaking was going to be a thing it would be remarkably unfair. For example, you would have early-ish Russian T-34s going up against Tiger tanks, or Me-262s and 163s going up against B-51s and B-17s. Balancing vehicles is important to keep everything fair. Although Gaijin could add historical matchmaking as a new gamemode.
It might be a slight bit inaccurate, but the F-117N variant was proposed to carry AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles, maybe this could help the aircraft in how it fits in the tree. As the F-117A has no Air-to-Air armaments.
I wonder if they’ll model RCS as something that depends on aspect instead of being fixed parameter for each vehicle (for instance that -25dBsm RCS (0.003m^2) is only if the F-117 is illuminated from 180 aspect (in perfect headon), turn in to 90deg aspect and do 90deg roll relative to the radio wave source and…. Magic! It’ll have almost 17dBsm (~50m^2, for those who interested - RCS(m^2)=10^(RCS(dBsm)/10))
@@christopherchartier3017 from below its RCS is way higher than in headon. Btw devs just confirmed my thoughts, on today’s dev stream they said that it will be super stealthy only in perfect headon so RCS will depend on aspect and gave us an example in test flight, the F-15E couldn’t lock the F-117 in headon at all but from front-side aspect it locked it from pretty far away
Fun fact the RCS of the F117 is the smallest even smaller than the F22 and The B2 even the F35s the world's first aircraft designed by a computer funny enough the F designation was to recruit pilots for the aircraft
to be honest i'm actually quite surprised that the f-117 nighthawk is a squadron vehicle, but i'm not complaining it just makes my job easier, to purchase the thing, and the only thing i would have to do is just grind out all the modifications which i never look forward to, but at least i don't have to grind out the other aardvark
Rank 6? So you mean that I can match up with one using my Japanese F86F-30? Yes, absolutely, there's nothing beats when I get shot down by a missile than shot down by a missile that I can't see😊)
Can't wait for the Pantsir will shoot this thing down like it’s no big deal, just because the Serbians got the luckiest shot in the world to take down the Nighthawk. I keep seeing people say, “Herr Derr, the Serbians didn’t know it was invisible,” but their low-frequency radar couldn't even detect it 99% of the time. They couldn’t filter out enough clutter to see the Nighthawk. The only reason they even got a lock was because 1: They kept turning their radar on and off to get fresh sweeps, which went against their normal operating procedures. Doing this lights you up like a Christmas tree on enemy radar. and 2: The Nighthawk’s bomb bay opened for a split second, just as their radar sweep pinged it. Even then, most of the time, even with the bomb bay open, that radar couldn’t pick up the Nighthawk. When I say most of the time I actually mean this was the one and only time they ever pinged it. This was the luckiest shot, hands down. Also, the guy fired two missiles-one lost track, and the other just barely clipped the Nighthawk. It was a one-in-a-million shot, never replicated again on the Nighthawk or any other stealth jet in history. But, of course, this will just give Gaijin more reason to make this thing worse at hiding from radar than it actually was. also I say a pantsir will shoot it down because people are going to take it to top tier for sure.
@@christopherchartier3017 i honestly doubt gaijin will let their precious pantsir fail at detecting a nighthawk on radar. IRST wise i'm not too well versed on the nighthawk though I only know about radar aspects of it.
I mean, it is 8.7 with no gun, no countermeasures, and no missiles :) This means Rank 6 is the best place for it... Sure it will break the immersion but, I think we can live with it, considering the downsides to the plane :)

How does one join a squadron?

Thank god it's a squadron vehicle. I don't wanna grind the US TT and its not viable enough to be a premium I reckon.

What about from below? SPAA systems would be illuminating from underneath, which is essentially a flat surface

@thesnazzycomet so small the f117 is still flying to this day
@@민원기-m6hIdk I think the F-22’s RCS is smaller

The f117 is unexpected i thought we would get the ac-130 gunship before this
whats the point of being stealth if you cant even use it? nothing at rank 6 really has a radar that can get a lock on even normal planes
Yes but it includes IR too

well the nighthawk only has guided bombs 💀
@@Cats_EliteI saw people use guided bombs and/or ATGMs against air targets. I tried to edit my comment, because of this context
If anything you’ll have a field day with a Sabre. It’s not like you carry missiles anyway and you can probably go just as fast

Pantsir will Just use SACLOS and visual targeting. I’m sure it’ll still be hidden daily well from its IRST and RADAR but still

Its going to be a struggle even if there were more targets you got only 2 bombs

Us air will become even more unplayable at hightier oh fuck
I think it's just neat 😊
I get that it has to come into the game nerfed, but this plane feels very underwhelming
I told u it would be squadron :)
