My Lab/Weiner/Pit Bull mix sleeps head to tail normally. She truly is the guardian of the house. Sweet as can be to her family but outsiders seem to be terrified of her. My Jack Russel/Bird Dog mix burrows under covers. He's also extra needy. The people he came from were drug addicts and due to details I won't go into here he's lucky to be alive. First night here he crawled under the covers with me and slept all night AFTER he got a bath because he stunk bad. Spine was sticking out of his back too but he's a solid chunk of spoiled rotten muscle now.
My dog is a real talker in his sleep... I don't know if he was ever in a deep sleep without whimpering or growling ridiculously through his closed, sleeping lips lol. I love him so much

My dog sleeps in the majority of the positions depending on if its day or night and if she is upstairs on carpet, in her bed, my bed or downstairs on the hardwood floors. Thanks for sharing

When my dog has just been groomed or it is cold, he sleeps curled up and against my stomach or in the back of my knee.
If he is warm, he lies stretched out on his back with his legs out in all directions.
My dog refuses to lie on a cold floor even when it's warm. Unless it's outside in the garden. I love the way dogs have their quirks 😅

I'd rather know what human sleeping positions mean. I normally circle the bed 3 times before lying in it. After that, I have no clue.

You missed one: “Shrimping”. Our Potcake will often sleep on her side with her hind end folded forward such that her belly is against her rib cage and her legs fully extended past her head. She literally looks like a shrimp (or lobster, but lobstering doesn’t roll of the tongue as nicely) with its tail tucked up. It’s apparently common among Potcakes but I’m curious if other breeds do this.
I used to have a Lab that would move her legs like she was full on sprinting when she was sleeping. Dreaming about chasing Pheasant was my best guess.
There is nothing better than when my dog sleeps on the cold feet in winter.

If your dog looks too hot get a cool towel? What is a cool towel? A towel that has been in the fridge? Won't putting a towel, cool or not, over the dog make it warmer by trapping in heat? The hard ground is effective because it draws the heat out of the animal but an insulating piece of material on top would have the opposite effect even if it was "cool"

I have a female dog that I took in from off of the streets 3 years ago. She usually sleeps laying on her back with her two front paws up in the air slightly in front of her face. It looks like she's praying. Till this day she is the first of my 2 other dogs to run to the door barking before I get the door open when I come home from work. She's a little mischief but sweet and playful. And she reminds me so much of my Claudia that passed away 6 months before I found her and rescued her from the streets. I guess she's thinking me from saving her from a bad lonely life on the streets. I'm guessing this is why she follows me around the house and stays laying beside me everywhere. My neighbor's son named her for me. And I could've picked a more suiting one for her. He named her "Sweety"

Sometimes my dog yelp/barks in his sleep but it legitimately sounds like he's having a nightmare/in distress so I wake him up usually. 😬

The Zombie position, that is just about normal for a greyhound.
My first grey was too deep chested and narrow across the back to be able to adopt the position, although he tried.
My new girls is wider across the back and not so deep, and she sleeps in that position a lot.
