      That line actually caused an infamous moment in Nickelodeon history. When they aired the movie to celebrate Nickelodeon's 30th Anniversary in 2009, they played it after a brand-new episode of Back at the Barnyard. However, the people at Nickelodeon didn't like that line because Good Burger was a kid's movie, so the censors at the company made a television cut while they still had censoring the brand-new Back at the Barnyard on the mind. They replaced the word "ass" with "tail" as a homage to Back at the Barnyard, and it's the most laughable moment of censorship in Nickelodeon history.

    You know, ever since 2009, Burger King hasn't been like they were, they've been trying to sell out more than they are trying to make good food, and I swear to GOD if they don't go back to their original ways,
    I would want to start an actual Good Burger fast-food chain (that is based off the Good Burger movie) (kind of like how Bubba-Gump did it with Forest Gump), that will cook and serve the food just like how Burger King did in the past (before 2009 where they started to sell out) with actually flame broiling the burgers, serving chicken tenders (real fillets of fried all white meat chicken breasts) instead of chicken nuggets, have a Good Burger Kids Club that gives you special deals and offers that you can get not just from Good Burger, but from other places as well (like Toys R Us or GameStop) and that includes contests and you'll get a special card that'll give you 3 free kids meal every month (the next month it starts over) and you buy more free meals from the Good Burger website, and coming up with clever and great ideas not just for profit, but to give the public what they want in their fast-food meal, good, well-cooked, food with our motto being "To Be Honest... We Just Do It Because We Like To Do It" (all with a 90's Fast Food Restaurant theme, cause the movie was made in the 90s)
    what do you think, would that be a good idea?

      the Don of Creativity I believe anyone with a set mind and determination can do that.
      I mean, if you were to start your own burger business, you'd be that one burger joint on that street. but get your restaurant noticed [Social media, health inspectors, food critics] you'd become noticed. 90's theme? You'll get lots of business. Hell, you should give people a free burger if they say "Welcome to Good Burger, Home of the Good burger, can I take your order?"
      Sorry, I just got lost into thought there.

    "A burger with nothing on it!"
    "A meat patty is something!"
    Reminds me of how at my own job people will order a tuna sub with no meat.
    *Don't bring up "fish isn't meat, it's fish!" argument, because I will tell you that "pork isn't meat, it's pork!" because it comes from the same logic. Was it a member of the animal kingdom in life? Then it's meat.

      Do they expect tuna on it or is it a case where they genuinely want everything but the tuna? It could make sense if they had no real customization option and were vegetarian or something.

    • @JasminePaygeBrooke
      @JasminePaygeBrooke 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dongjun Yun The tuna subs we serve have tuna, lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, onions, and a bit of salt, pepper, and oregano. Other things if they ask. The subs are named after the meat in them, and if there's more than one meat, the meats will be named (i.e., Ham and Salami sub). And, I don't care what anyone tries to tell me, tuna isn't a vegetarian thing. It is a member of the animal kingdom, thus considered a meat, and it neither comes from seeds nor photosynthesizes, and is not an egg, milk, or cheese, so it is not a vegetarian option. If a vegetarian wants a sandwich, they will generally ask for a veggie sub (which isn't on the menu, but is still available at request).

      Ted Owen You're right. I was born just before the 90s, so the shows you mentioned (along with others like Pete and Pete, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, etc.) were what was on for me. I don't remember specific episodes or parts of this movie, but I definitely have on the rose tinted goggles when watching all that old stuff. It hits a part of the brain that just makes you feel drawn to it. Other generations have their own version of this, except maybe the kids brought up with full Internet/iPhone stuff- they are a new breed, and idk what the fuck is up with them hahaha.

    Good Burger is one of those guilty pleasures that I really love even though I know it sucks. I can't help it. It's especially fun watching it now and realizing just how ridiculous it is. The villain is so over-the-top for no reason, and he's clearly a massive idiot if he didn't think putting illegal drugs in his own food would ever backfire. What, people would get sick after eating there and not make the connection? I also felt bad for Sin Bad's character. Sure, he was also ridiculous, but it was bullshit that an unlicensed little shit damaged his car, that his cool mail boxes were destroyed, and then when his car was all back to normal, it was completely totalled. Poor guy.

  • @JustinAKABiff
    @JustinAKABiff 10 ปีที่แล้ว +63

    I think people honestly look at this movie with their Nostalgia Goggles on. Seriously. The hard part of growing up is admitting that certain shows and movies we loved as kids just haven't aged well and that they were never that good to begin with. Doug is absolutely right. Good Burger isn't funny, no matter how "adult" the humor is, and the lessons are buried so deep in cheese that you can't possibly appreciate it. Keenan and Kel were never funny. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. Good Burger truly emphasized that better than anything else could.

    • @dead_yhency
      @dead_yhency 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Critic's just being a snob here. Good Burger isn't great but it's exactly what it's supposed to be: a goofy silly comedy with some basic life lessons. It's a solid kids movie with some adult humor. But one thing I'll say is true: Sinbad sucks.

      Um... Kids don't understand the process of competitive business... So I am sure this was to aim for the teen viewers. Little kids think girls have kudies and they used a whore to trick good burger. And when it comes to fast food. All kids remember is the mascot and the kids meal toys. They really don't care too much for the food its self. It's the toy that counts... rendering this movie complete for young and older teens. Therefore. allowing critics to call it a horrible movie. Yes?
      Mmmmm, I am quite the detective. This was quite... Elementary? Dear Watson.

    • @LegoPack99

      Loron Li The "it's just for kids" excuse is extremely lazy, and not very good to begin with. If you're going to commercially release a product, you have to be able to accept the criticism from whoever receives it, regardless of if it's "just for kids."

    I won't lie, I was horrified by the talking burgers. Even had a nightmare of it, but watching it when I was older I found it a bit funny and silly, as well as the rest of the movie. And I really didn't find anything wrong with the movie. The main characters were as silly as ever, the other characters all have unique personalities, and the humor sticks with Nickelodeon regime, other than the old guy saying he broke his ass XD. I think Nostalgia Critic just has a vendetta against this movie, and honestly I would not want him to remember it for me.

      RoseRedd right, sure looks like John Candy though. I remember seeing the trailers for this as a kid, like 10-11ish, thinking it was him cuz I missed any news of his sudden and sad passing of a heart attack I believe. He was very cool, a great canadian, even an owner of a professional canadian football team Toronto Argonauts with Wayne Gresty (damn it 99, why don't you still? why dont you do more to help your country, instead of be Steve Nash who could have helped the Raptors in his prime, ugh!..), that I dearly miss. While a bad joke here, it's one to give him a wink and also say how bad this film is that it killed such a great actor and man even before it started. :)

    So a woman is one of the villains of the story, she's lying and trying to exploit the heroes for personal gain, she's the target of some (weak) slapstick gags, and you consider that "abuse to women"?
    ...You keep using that word, Doug, but I do not think it means what you think it means.

      @cyanmanta 9 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Dameol He called the slapstick in this movie "abuse to women." Why is it slapstick when a man suffers in fiction, but when a woman suffers in fiction it's equated with real life abuse? That's Tumblr shit right there.

    • @Dameol
      @Dameol 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cyanmanta because its a JOKE. Jokes take regular situations and exaggerate them to a comical extreme

    • @cyanmanta
      @cyanmanta 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dameol I fully understand that it was intended as a joke. However, he is ironically saying "abuse to women is funny" in a jokey-joke voice. The sarcasm/irony is the joke. But there is an underlying assumption - which is part of the setup, not part of the punchline - that what is happening to this character is tantamount to "abuse to women." It's not. It's slapstick. Do you see what I'm saying? What he said was intended as abusectuallyssumption user joke, but not the part of it you seem to think.

    • @cyanmanta
      @cyanmanta 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dameol No, the joke is the irony/sarcasm in his voice when he says it. That is the comic element that makes it a joke. The underlying assumption that "abuse to women" is taking place on screen - which it isn't, it's just slapstick - is not the comic exaggeration, it's just the set-up.

    Seriously, the whole "Good Burger" sketch revolved around 1 repeated "joke." It was always the "welcome to good burger" line, followed by the customer making an order, and no matter how ridiculously large the order was, Kel always responded with "that'll be 8 bucks." Why was a movie made out of this? I remember watching this when it came out and finding it completely unfunny, and I grew up watching SNICK. I just... I can't even... what the fuck?

    Take from the 1990's most devout channel surfer, that's me. Born on 10/6/1995, I have been surfing kid channels up and down our family's television and the channel I loved the most was Nickelodeon, especially All That, Blue's Clues, Hey Arnold, Gullah Gullah Island, Keenan&Kel, and Rugrats. Good Burger came out when when I was two and a half years old (June 25, 1997), I watched it in the theater with my babysitter and her date when it first came out and it was the funniest thing that ever made my childhood. I even watched it again on VHS in February 2004 when I was seven years old and went to Hawaii for my Dad's 40th birthday. We rented it to watch for family movie night the second day we were there, we loved the movie so much I even suggested we have burgers and fries for lunch the next day (which we did). Good Burger even gave me the idea to make an Australian parody of it called Good Steak, set in Sydney on the first day of Spring with the same premise and character traits except it's set on the other side of the ocean from LA in Sydney Australia and it revolves around a steakhouse and seafood restaurant & bar on the Sydney Boardwalk with a cooperative giant steakhouse franchise across the pier called "Mondo Steak." WELCOME TO GOOD STEAK HOME OF THE GOOD STEAK CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER?? God Bless The Glorious Nickelodeon 1990's.

    This movie was hilarious. People won't like it now because humor has changed since the 90s. Not too many kid's comedies are going to hold up. Also remember that it's based on a sketch. How many movies based on a sketch were great movies? Night at the Roxberry? MacGruber? Superstar? The Ladies Man? Borat and Bruno? Mr. Bean? Even Monty Python has some moments you can say aren't funny now, especially if you focus on them. It did it's job. It kept 90s kids' interest for almost 2 hrs.
