Nice to see inside the manufacturing plant and have a glimpse at their archive, thanks for sharing. I think it's amazing that they figured out how to spray print the pre-cut puzzles, it probably saves production time doing it the way.
A couple of corrections from the museum: Ravensburger produced the world's first 5000 piece cardboard puzzle in 1977, but it wasn't the Neuschwanstein Castle puzzle they showed, it was Rembrandt's Night Watch painting and a second, a photo of the Dolomites. Also, in 1983 Ravensburger released the first puzzle with 12,000 pieces, Hieronymous Bosch's "Temptation of Saint Anthony," and in 1985 they released their second 12,000 piece, a photo of Neuschwanstein Castle. At the time these were the largest cardboard puzzles in the world, eclipsing the 7500 piece puzzles that rival FX Schmid had released in the very early 1980s. Also, the Ravensburger box style changed twice before reaching the white-border: their early style had the image entirely covering the box lid from the early 1970s through 1982, but in 1983 they changed the design to feature a colored band around the lid (like the 5k Neuschwanstein in the video); this style was used until 1992 when the white-bordered lid came into effect. Interesting fact: when in 1964 Ravensburger decided to get into the interlocking puzzle market, they outsourced the production to Dutch brand Jumbo, which was well established. The Ravensburger owners at the time weren't sure puzzles would sell and didn't want to invest in the infrastructure initially.

Did you see the machine that adds the puzzle dust?😆 That's so cool that you got to visit the factory and museum!! Content creator, Sue Burgundy lives in Germany and she gets some of her puzzles from a Ravensburger outlet.

Yvonne looked up the Ravensburger outlets, but alas none of them were along our travels. We so wish there was one in the States!

Do you know if ANYONE can take tours of the factory and if they have staff that speaks English for normal/non-puzzle famous people? My husband's bucket list includes a trip to Germany and with my obsession of Ravensburger, I can't tell you how much I'd love the opportunity to tour their facility.

Unfortunately the factory is not normally open to the public. This was a rare occurrence where they invited a few of us to see their factory.
