Great Content Elliot. I’m currently scheduled to take on the Net + in a month and will be taking on the Sec + after I finish a systems security class in my local community college. At my school they offer vouchers for these CompTIA exams if you are a Computer Information Systems major (closest major relating to cybersecurity). I’m not sure if it’s a known thing but for those that are looking to take on these exams it would good to look into a program at a local college to see if they help with prep or cover the exams in their programs. This has been a personal cheat code because not only is the exam covered for me but I developed personal friendships with peers in my major to study for these exams. Anyone taking these exams, I wish you the best.
also take your time for most of us if its gonna take 3 to 6 month do that vs rushing to get it done in "45 days" or "two weeks" comptia is all about testing your knowledge and applying that knowledge try not to remember practice questions that won't help. its all about understanding the subject itself
Totally fair point! Although for me and probably many others out there, the faster we get these certs, the faster we can open up job opportunities for ourselves
After a few requests, I've added Anki flashcards to my free CompTIA Security+ 701 study guide. I'll be flashcards to all of my new study guides coming soon. Check it out: elliotcrosen.gumroad.com/l/sec701
Thanks! Got your Study guide, and the two relevant paperbacks to get going on this! Excited to ifnally have a road map to get this done quickly, and while I did pay for it it's so cool of you to give out your guide for free!
@@PRgencoupe I have used it to memorize the terms and acronyms in particular and I think even just for that it is well worth it. I'm still utilizing the online resources from Sybex along with this guide however as they have premade flash cards and 500+ practice questions.
@ Hey! Since no one’s chimed in yet, I’ll throw out my 2 cents (obviously biased). You can download it completely for free to try it out for yourself! If you don’t like it, no harm no foul
I do have one small critique of the study guide with respect to the term lists. If they were in an easily convertible format for flash cards like CSV that would be awesome! I'm having to move them to Anki flash cards manually right now, and it's taking some time! Also if you would like I can export my Anki files as I have separated them, and you can include them in your Study guide package with a Readme with instructions on how to use them for other people who are learning :)
@kromaveil Thanks for your feedback! I recently uploaded an Excel format of all of the vocab lists, but I just now updated the link with CSVs as well. Check it out: elliotcrosen.gumroad.com/l/sec701
@@elliotcrosen this is helpful! I still went ahead, and combined them into two columns so that they can be turned directly into front and back flash cards would you like me to email those to you so you can make them available to everyone? I took all the terms I could find on the A-Z list that were not present in the Study guide chapter terms, and put them in as supplementary vocabulary on their own sheet, so in total there are 22 separate sheets of terms that have been combined this way
Actually it looks like ChatGPT screwed up the comparison of the two sheets, so maybe you have a list of where the Study Guide and The A-Z do not overlap?
Why is everyone so hard-pressed about getting this certification 😢so fast. Especially the people transitioning into Tech. There’s so much you can do instead of rushing to get a certification. I know about nine people who rushed to get the certificate and still can’t do nothing with it as far as finding work. If you want it for bragging rights and for it to look good on LinkedIn, then I’m not hating ha ha. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
I have a question, I’m planning to take the security+ exam but I’m wondering is it being updated every year? Like will there be 801 question models in 2025?

Hi Elliot - thanks for this video and content. I downloaded your zip file and in looking at the study guide layout (lessons 1-16), I’m not seeing how your study guide notes line up? What am I doing wrong? For example - Chapter 3 in your study guide notes is “Malicious Code”, but the study guide itself has chapter 3 as “Explain Cryptographic Solutions”. What am I doing wrong here :) I love the notes, but just want to see how I leverage them and line them up to the study guide. Thanks a bunch!
@elliotcrosen - PS I think I have the online “study guide”, called CertMaster via CompTIA and just trying to align to that. The study guide pdf you have aligns exactly to the certmaster I am following, but the notes you have seem to follow a different chapter sequence or something? Thanks!
Hey there! My study guide notes align with CompTIA Security+ Study Guide SY0-701 (Sybex Study Guide) 9th Edition. I put a link to the study guide in the description but you can also find it here: amzn.to/3AWviD2 If you decide to buy the Sybex Study Guide, you will see in that study guide's Chapter 3 is called "Malicious Code" which is the same as my study guide notes, Chapter 13 is "Wireless and Mobile Security" which is the same as my notes, and so on. Hope that helps!
