    I wish I'd watched your video two weeks ago! Tried all the usual adjustments with no luck. Unplugged the low oil sensor wire and runs like a charm! Easy enough to check the oil every once in awhile...

    I've been eliminating causes for my backfiring and rope snatching problems on a Honda gx390. Flywheel key, adjusted valves(.015 int./.020 exhaust),coil, carb's like new.
    I'll check out the oil sensor 1st thing in the morning! Thanks for the video!

      Please how did you fix the rope snatching thing? I have been dealing with the same problem even after changing the camshaft,the valves. Please help me out.

    FIXED mine: Had TOO much/and dirty oil. Changed oil, cleaned spark plug, all good :)
    Original problem: Backfiring, started for a few seconds, then stopped.

    3 hours of trying before your video, 10 seconds to unplug the sensor and first pull after your video! 👍👍👍 thank you.

      just make sure you keep the oil topped up before every start up.

    Turns out having enough oil is important for starting. I did not know mine had an oil sensor until you showed me. Thanks

    Thank you so very much for this video. I'm a trucker I have a redneck APU and I love my champion generators. I have a new one and mysteriously all of a sudden it wouldn't start and it was doing exactly what you were describing yours was doing. Thank you very much you saved me so much time. No one else on TH-cam Had this problem with a generator that used daily like You and I do.

      the company i work for has over 10 champion generators from Costco. they work 8 hours a day and last a long time. as issues arise i will post more repair videos.

    Thankyou so much !!!!! I have a Honda GP200 with no more than 12 hours on the engine - same symptoms - have checked all obvious and am about to change the plug, (as spark does seem erratic) - I think you are "bang on" though - its the oil pressure cut out.

    I wonder if there is an oil pressure sw. that will work when screwed into oil fill hole.
    I had a champion I fixt, for a friend, if I pulled yellow oil sw. wire, engine would run
    but no low oil protection.

    I have a 3500 campion and the flywheel broke because I ended up having to pull it a hundred times to start.
    I took my drill and put a socket on it, and "electric start" it now.
    BUT it takes like 300 rotations to start the engine using mydrill.
    Basically until it's warmed up.
    If it turns off and its still warm, giving it one turn over will start it back no problem.
    Is this oil switch possibly my problem as well?

    • @turboeeyore
      @turboeeyore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its possible but the best way to inspect it would be check for spark at low rpm and do a compression test. also check your valve lash adjustment.

    Hi, i havea OHV petrol engine, changed spark (even the coil), carb cleaned, valve adjusted (0.08 and 0.05), unplugged oil press sensor, still backfires and couldnt start. Have any idea? Thank you.

    • @turboeeyore
      @turboeeyore  ปีที่แล้ว

      if the keyway on the flywheel has sheared, the ignition timing will be off. remove the flywheel and inspect the keyway.

    I have a Honda GX390. I've deleted the oil sensor completely, and I've done everything to mine to fix it as well.. it's still backfiring theu both intake and exhaust.
    Please help?!

    • @turboeeyore
      @turboeeyore  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you may have burnt or bent valves. try a leakdown test with compressed air.

  • @TheExcessivemhz

    So it means the oil pressure sensor need to be replaced to fix this issue permanently?

    • @turboeeyore
      @turboeeyore  ปีที่แล้ว

      i keep saying pressure sensor but its a oil level sensor. yes it would have to be replaced to fix it properly. there isn't oil pressure in this engine it just splashes the oil around in the bottom.

    That big end sounds bad

  • @462ANIMAL
    @462ANIMAL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This sounds like my generator, I’ve checked everything and thought I unplugged the oil switch..but I better look again..lol I was thinking the key had broke also... mine slowly got worse , would take a lot of pulls to start it and wanted full choke even if already warmed up..

    • @turboeeyore
      @turboeeyore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      check the valve clearance. if you can get your hands on the owners manual it details how to set the valves.

    • @462ANIMAL
      @462ANIMAL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@turboeeyore I pulled the valve cover , and checked for loose rocker arms .. one was a tad loose. So I adjusted it.. but it won’t run at all before or after adjustment.. it has spark.. I’ll look at it again.. just got a lot going on before the real cold and snow hits. We had high winds the other day and the power was out for 10 hrs.
      So I used my bigger generator it’s 6875 surge watts 5500 running... the one that doesn’t run is 2300 watts running watts I think it’s Pro-force 5.5 up I will look it up and check the clearances of the vales before pulling the flywheel

    • @turboeeyore
      @turboeeyore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the rockers gets adjusted while the opposing valve is fully depressed, so have the intake valve fully open while adjusting the exhaust valve and vice versa. there is a chance the keyway sheared on the flywheel as well. good luck.
