Post view comments: I have the 4G Gear S2. The speaker issues and being able to answer calls is addressed by that. As far as the screen size for me yes it is smaller but it doesn't bother me. I think being a girl I like having the more watch size feel.
Andrew I have the LTE ATT model and it has the speaker and I've called and talked to people a lot and it works great. People can't tell I'm on my watch. So I think that issue is related to the regular Gear s2 wifi model. I paid $300 for my ATT LTE model. Which isn't bad in comparison to the OG which I have as well.

The only problem that I have with my gear S is that sometimes it gets stuck and and flashes between 2 screens and will not stop, it heats up during this and it will waste a whole charge in approx 30 min. +Micah Blackhart Last time mu brother had a glitchloop or something - the watch show the main screen, after 3s he hides menu (turn off the screen) and again - watch for 3s, screen off. Factory setting solved the problem, fast pressing menu buttons to to Gear Info, otherwise he go off after 3s
agree with you, would love to get the gear s2 but can't as it feels like I would be going backwards. similar to buying a new Samsung phone with no expandable storage.
On the round vs square screen issue; Samsung chose the round screen because a predominate amount of buyers want their watch face to look like a real watch and not a miniature computer. I personally like to be able to quickly switch between an elegant traditional version, in my choice of colors, or a more chronograph look depending on the style I want and if I am going to a formal event or not. For me it's a fashion statement. As long is I get my notifications I can read my messages at a more convent time on my phone. I'm good with that. Each to. His own.

I have the Gear 2 and Gear S. I have no attention getting the Gear S 2. I also have the Moto 360 and LG G Watch, which I purchased pre-owned for under $80 and I agree even though I don't use the speaker often but it's a must have.
I got my Gear S a couple of months ago, what a great piece of tech. Biggest thing for me was the stand alone feature. I'm not a heavy phone user and have a Galaxy S5 and still find that a pain to take out and about with me as I hate carrying things in pockets so I bought a Jabra stone bluetooth earpiece which is nice and discreet and leave my phone at home ( put on call forwarding) next year when my phone contract expires I'm going to ditch my phone and go Solo with the Gear S.

I feel samsung took a major step back in this design compared to the gear S. the only thing the S2 has going for it is the better charger. it is a nice alternative for people looking to have a round smartwatch but I'm gonna keep my gear s and wait to see what the gear s3 brings. square is better. cheers
I totally agree with you. It seems as though that's all that Samsung is doing is taking steps back. I love my Gear S. I also have the LG Urbane but it doesn't compare to my Gear S. However the Urbane is a better looking watch.
Andrew, just got the S2 3G/4G model yesterday, an "upgrade" from the Gear S that I had. So far I can't make a complete opinion of like or don't like. For my life, having a round watch is a better option, given I need a watch to look like a watch. But I did like the design of the Gear S, just became a problem for my life as it didn't look like a watch. Furthermore, my major DISLIKE for the S2 is the "keyboard" they offer you, should you want to type out your message. Makes me glad the voice to text is responsive and accurate. I will be selling my Gear S in hoping the upcoming updates for the S2 will address so of the coming issues. Great video brother.
100% right. Screen like GearS/Gear1 is much better, 3g, wifi, gps, sim, phonecall by bluetooth, not by sim, etc. Happy S user. Cycle screen looks good only for clock.

I just sold my Samsung S1 and I loved the shape and functionality. I am upgrading to the Samsung S2... but I think the same stuff he is talking about. I think the round screen is gonna suck and the way the phone works I just loved the S1... I hope I like the s2 but I think I will go back to the S1... I miss it already...

Get the Gear S. It's a better overall smart watch. It still gets updates because I have one. The Huawei watch is also a good choice. I have both. But the Gear S is my favorite

I just bought mine. I love it. Its also versatile so if you don't like tizen there is a massive community built around modding it if you're into that kinda thing. I saw a guy install full android on it.
I got that problem too, I updated my software of my gear S but after it was done it flipped over. I noticed that the device was very warm so I put him sort in the fridge so it cool down, also get him off the charger (including the little unit). Then when is cool down it works fine again!!
What all can I do with the Samsung gear s as just a watch with no bt, wifi, or cellular connection. I plan on using it with wifi and bt, but might have times when all I have is the watch independently from any kind of connection? Thanks, I really enjoy your videos and all the detail you go into.
I jumped a bit when you dropped the S. Mine fell from a counter top to a ceramic tile floor and busted the screen. I do let my little one chew and drool all over the thing, so I'm definitely comfortable with the built, but drops have me emotionally disturbed. :) Not to say your too picky, but I would say 1/3 of your concerns I never noticed enough to really dismiss the S2. Original is still better, albeit a tough pick for me. Dig your videos man, keep up the good work.

+rodney gardner recommend you check out some other videos before making a final decision. There is voice capability in the 3G version. I have the Gear S and this Gear S2. Is very nice having both to choose from, depending on what I am wearing or doing for the day. The rotating bezel doesn't use any juice haha and is a VERY cool feature and smart way of navigating the watch without touching the screen.
has anyone notice that on the t-mobile version of gear s1 the sim card losses contact and you have to reset the watch. where as on say the Verizon version has no sim card you don't get that problem?

when you keep the gear s for charging, even the slightest movement turns it on (even in do not disturb mode ) and you just cannot simply keep it in your bag for charging and move around, you just gotta keep it stationary .
I wish some of these videos would just show a list within 10 seconds of the pros/cons and THEN get into detail. 4:30 minutes in and we're still talking about brightness adjustment in manual mode - meh I'm okay with that. Auto anything = battery drain, but I guess brightest setting when unnecessary = drain too. I'm not watching a verbose commentary if each thing will take 4 minutes to review when 10 seconds will suffice - bloviation. Do you get paid to advertise for Under Armor? Is this office a sweatshop for mining gold in World of Warcraft?
I agree with you. the Gear S is a much better smart watch based on the functionality. I also love the bigger display. I have no idea why Samsung takes away things we love and then charge more money. They are unbelievable!
Having a bad time with battery life on the gear s. Won't last even 2 hours. And no one has the answer to how to change the battery or if it's a software conflict. Please help!
I've gone for the gear 2 I've had gear s2 but I prefer the gear 2 for a better battery all notifications coming thru and making and receiving calls and the biggest thing the camera

OMG, please don't cut down to 5 minute videos! I agree with you that the Gear S is better and your con's on the Gear S2. I do like Tizen on it. Wish that we could get update on the Gear S similar to the new watch. Saw a watch face that users have been complaining that they cant see it on the Gear S2. Samsung is making users pay for the metal and bezel they added on the S2 Sport to justify the higher price as well as for the S2 Classic.

As a very happy gear s user I totally agree. Saw a gear s2 in a store nearby. Circling the gear's screen is not an upgrade at all.

Voice dictated texting is also an awesome feature on the gear s.
that rotating bezel is an excellent edition if you ask me, I like it, helps me a lot.

Your calls can get forwarded to your gear S. I have one. As long as your gear S Sim card is activated

Auto anything = battery drain, but I guess brightest setting when unnecessary = drain too. I'm not watching a verbose commentary if each thing will take 4 minutes to review when 10 seconds will suffice - bloviation.

I agree with you. the Gear S is a much better smart watch based on the functionality. I also love the bigger display. I have no idea why Samsung takes away things we love and then charge more money. They are unbelievable!

Having a bad time with battery life on the gear s. Won't last even 2 hours. And no one has the answer to how to change the battery or if it's a software conflict.

Is it worth buying the Gear S now? I like the size and pretty much every feature you said. The Gear S 2 is meh.
I've gone for the gear 2 I've had gear s2 but I prefer the gear 2 for a better battery all notifications coming thru and making and receiving calls and the biggest thing the camera

+Seth Kamins wow that's a barging I paid £110 for mine one month ago I've had a apple watch 42mm which ok but I've got me a s7 edge and sold my apple watch and bought gear s2 due to the 3g not released in the UK I got a refund and bought a gear 2 and it's 2 years older then the apple watch and the gear 2 blows the apple watch out of the water the battery on a good day will last 3 days I've a camera video recorder heart rate monitor and the one I love the sleep monitor and a pedometer the camera ain't bad all photos are set so all goes straight to my s7. and making calls and receiving is a bonus oh and the Ir blaster many times I have misplaced my TV or sky remote then my gear 2 takes over

OMG, please don't cut down to 5 minute videos! I agree with you that the Gear S is better and your con's on the Gear S2. I do like Tizen on it. Wish that we could get update on the Gear S similar to the new watch. Saw a watch face that users have been complaining that they cant see it on the Gear S2. Samsung is making users pay for the metal and bezel they added on the S2 Sport to justify the higher price as well as for the S2 Classic.
