The series is such a great idea! Especially for those going into the 'horsie' world and want to know the best way to set up a new property. My family is looking into property of our own and some tips on how to set it up for good functionality would be amazinggg.
Emma Darcey that was our idea too!! So much of the set up is about safety, & understanding horse behavior in order to create a happy environment & flow.
100% yes! Brilliant idea. I’ve just brought 20 acres and a dream of mine is to create a highly functional, beautiful, boutique horse property. For feedback, I would have happily sat through a 45min video! Details, details. Where did you buy this and that from? Did you find there was a cheapest way to do certain things? What aspects do you regret/would you change? Cost wise, aesthetics wise, productivity wise? What are you so happy you did do? (You did answer that, the yards 😊). What type of trees, hedges? You certainly gave me an interesting idea with your sand yards with mesh underneath. Plus love the eBay chandeliers! I love the idea of cost effective ways to boujee up the place 😉
You miss the man cave lol. We just installed a 70x200 foot indoor arena with stables, 70x164 indoor and 36x70 stables. We have a small property and are looking for ideals on hom best to set the yards up
I would love a series on horse properties. Even if I'm on the other side of the world 🇸🇪 and have quite a different climate 🥶❄️☃️. There is always some ideas that you can steal 😉
I think a series would be good as it will also show people possibilities of what can be done if they buy somewhere with not much on it but they don’t know where to start plus it could help existing horse people if they want to upgrade
Yes! Love seeing different horse properties! Really like how you’ve designed your paddocks with a sandy area that always stays dry. (Also those pups are adorable. The big stick 😂.)
Swooning over your beautiful and thoughtfully planned property! Two points I really admire & appreciate: your keen sense of organization and commitment to safety. Trademarks to live by. Also great to see Lozzie 😊 & love all your 4-legged friends!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
MM Chapman THANKYOU! Both the owners & I love things to be tidy, & well arranged! I’ve learnt so much from working with them about little things which make a big difference!
Great idea my wife & I are buying a property in the very near future to be set up as a horse property & are always looking at different ways to set it up. Love it awesome idea
I love you Amanda Ross! I am curious though, how do you afford this? Here in the US, you have to be one of a few things to have an equestrian property lien this: 1) Independently wealthy 2) Born into “horsey people” that already had the facilities 3) Mega rich sponsors...it’s sad that no one starts with nothing and ends up with this. I realize you are a top competitor, and I’m wondering if that’s how you got this farm, or did you have a leg up? No disrespect in this question! Beautiful farm! Love to watch you ride!
Would 100% love a series!! My family and I are currently looking for a property and would love as many tips as possible for setting one up 🤩 absolutely LOVE your set up🙌🏽
Who gave this a thumbs down?! You have no soul, Amanda is the BEST! Love this, I LOVE looking at horse properties I will never be able to afford, haha! My greatest hope is to become a working student at a place like this! I know you don't take working students, Amanda, but you'd definitely be my first choice if you did! SO BEAUTIFUL, you have a great eye for design! There is no space that cannot be improved by a chandelier! 😁💗🐎 (I love your coloured feed buckets, if I get to take over the feed distribution at my barn I want to start a colour coded system like that, the randomness of the buckets now drives me insane!😳)
Definately do the series, your property is amazing. I've always been impressed at how your horses are cared for and turned out in your videos. My only complaint is there should be more videos to watch!
What a great place! Everything seems so carefully thought out! Your dogs are a hoot! Why was Ringo barking at Lorzy while she collected shavings?? And Beetle just shooting through the hedge while Oaky bounced over it was amazing! :)
Learn so much from watching these videos and love seeing the beautiful surroundings. The northwest of England is ever so slightly different in terms of climate...
Loved this! We’re setting up our 20 acres and this has given me some great practical ideas as well as endorsed some of the ideas I already had! I also love your colour scheme!
Hi Amanda! Love your videos I would love to see more videos about your property, re drainage, paddock maintenance ( weeding spraying rotating) I am looking at setting up a property similar to your post covid, as a top class agistment centre I feel we are lacking on the peninsula! More videos like this would be fantastic!
Ahh, first of all I'm a little jealous of the climate you have. I live in Bergen-Norway where it rains over 200 days a year. Where I loan a horse, it has no indoor, that is 20 minutes away if we want to ride indoors. We only have an outdoor and we could only dream of such paddocks
Love this video so much! So many great additions to the property which have made it so versatile and looking amazing! Just wondering why you added trees to the corners of the paddocks, because you don't want the horses standing there? Xx
Hi Amanda! Awesome set up! I own agistment and heaps keen to know more about (outdoor) arena management mainly dragging, maintenance, etc. My arena is only small with felt as the first layer with Margaret River sand on top. Someone told me that I should also harrow an arena? I tow a dragger over it once a month behind an ATV. It gets used alot mainly for small children to ride/lead in with small jumps. (No competition or pony club as such). Should I be dragging it more often and how do I manage the sides of the arena where sand seems to constantly pile up around the edge on one side? Is it a matter of scraping the sand off the timber edge back into the arena or is there another way? Is there a way of checking whether my arena sand is too soft or hard? I've inherited the horse facilities from the previous property owner who unfortunately never managed it. I'm up on the Sunny Coast in QLD. Any advice would be so appreciated. Thankyou🙏Cheers Mirands
Where did you get your tack cleaning hook? The ones I can find are so small and the hooks are not long enough, so when I clean the bridle constantly comes off the hook. You've got it easy living in such a mild climate. Here all the stables need to be sturdy, insulated buildings otherwise the pipes freeze, and the leather gets ruined in the winter, because of that, any wash racks need to be indoors as well. Does your indoor arena have open walls, or is it optical walls? In Sweden I know there are indoors with opticalillusion walls. They are perforated with tiny holes, and so when you are inside you can actually see the outside almost like there are no walls, but from the outside you can't see in. I don't know how it works, but it is amazing.
M B Equestrian wow that indoor wall sounds amazing!!! It’s another world isn’t it? The hook is a Transhorse Sport brand. It’s amazing... I have one for the horse truck as well!!
I love this! Such a smart set up! I love the sand yards in each paddock, it's something I would love to do at my property. Just wondering what type of sand you used?
Talicia Beardsmore we actually used a river sand because it drains well. We then changed the original outdoor arena surface (it was too heavy) so we used the sand when we built the remaining yards!
Supposedly those types of masks are for sensitive horses to keep them ‘calm’. Though I’ve heard they don’t work, others say they do. It’s up for debate.
Thank you! I actually designed it around some of the preexisting structures like the stables and the two big paddocks. Designing properties is one of my passions which has come from many years experiencing what works (and what doesn’t lol!)
Yes please. Am always interested in how people organise their properties.
