Glorious video! Thank you so much for putting it together. And what I found the best: I am fairly familiar with most of the popular designers, but none of the patterns in your video was known to me. What a smart, beautiful selection!! It almost felt like opening a box of chocolate ;) Sooo good!!!
Hi Sarah, if you can get hold of a copy, I recommend Martin Storey's book, 'Learn to Knit Cables'. It's by far and away the best 'how to' book on cables I have seen (and I have seen A LOT!!!). There's nothing scary about cables and, ultimately, if cables aren't for you, frog it and knit something else. Good luck!
Nice selection of sweaters there! I have some chunky (aka bulky) yarn I've been going to knit a cardigan with and wondered about doing a cabled cardigan, but I was wondering, perhaps it's not normal to knit cables with chunky weight since it's so thick?
Hi. It's fine to knit cable designs with chunky but generally the cables would be spaced further apart or be softer, looser ones. Drops Garn Studio website is an excellent source of free patterns and you can specify yarn gauge in the search. Here are a few ideas. #172-39 is a snuggly looking cardigan. I like the offset front placket too. #117-41 is a traditional shape with a not-so traditional cable design. It's shown as a sleeveless cardigan but you could easily add simple moss stitch sleeves. #227-50 is another traditional shape and you could easily substitute a cable for the vertical bubble design. #125-25 is also a traditional shape with traditional cable design and you could easily alter the large collar to something more wearable. #31-16 is a sweater, I know, but it would be the simplest thing to either steek it up the centre front or knit it as a cardigan and add a button band. I suggest you grab yourself a cup of your preferred brew and browse through Drops Garn. And the BEST part is....all the patterns are FREE!!!
@@jayeclements6452 wow that's such a helpful comment, thank you so much! Abs cup of tea and a good pattern search sounds just the thing to do 😄 (Just had to say, I share your surname too! Only mine is spelt with a 'ce' at the end instead of 'ts'!)
You can totally knit cables with bulky yarn! Quick search gave me a few cute options: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/deep-winter-coat www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elara-cardigan www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ausable-3
I fancied the Hayley Sweater but when I showed it to my partner he pointed out the diamonds look like they are circling the bust in not a great way (if you get my meaning)! I didnt notice it when I added it to my list but once he pointed it out I couldnt not see it so had to remove from my queue 😂😂
Love your videos and your choices! Another great pattern which I knit and will do again is Glenfiddich!
Thanks for a nice collection of cable patterns!
Yay! Thank you for the cardigans!!!

I’m so glad you felt that way! I try hard to find patterns that aren’t super well known’
great video as always, lovely choices
There were several patterns i'd like to knit! I appreciate you including patterns that have a wider size range, thank you =^^=
Of course! I try my best to pick only patterns that are size inclusive!
Great video! Thank you for all of the info.
Hello from Swansea, Illinois. ❤❤
I've never knit cables but I SO want to! Saving all of these to my ravelry to look into a bit more to see if I dare to try them

@@birchandlily thanks so much! Yes,I definitely need to spend some time looking through patterns 🤭

Lolol maybe it wouldn’t be so noticeable if you made it a little oversized?
❤️🌈
The shepherd's daughter cardi looks like it has _that_ S on it
Also, I love all these patterns. Why am I a slow knitter/crocheter. Why all the WIPs.
Oh my goodness it totally does! Bringing back all the elementary school memories lol.
Wholly unnecessary to include prices.
