EP138 ACTUAL TUTORIAL: Enya Nova Go + Loopy Pro = GUITAR LOOPING on your PHONE!?

  • The ENYA NOVA GO SP1 is at the more affordable end of carbon fibre guitars, and this "AcousticPlus" version comes with a Bluetooth speaker inside - so I wondered if, with LOOPY PRO, it could do what the more expensive ones do (no affiliation with @enyamusic or @ATastyPixel).
It does indeed: with only an iPhone at hand - no cables or anything - this thing is a loop machine on your lap, quick to set up and much fun.
On this basis, my EP125 has become surprisingly popular by my standards (past 4,000 views) and I'm a bit embarrassed about the bad playing and the stupid advice that it contains... I had only had this guitar a week or so then.
So here's a corrective. I don't much trust the algorithm to deliver this to all those people, but here's at least an attempt to ACTUALLY SHOW how to do the things that I personally find worth doing on this setup: how to use auto loop detection, effects, and follow actions; and how to make your own buttons.
Let me know if this is any use to anyone and do also check these playlists:

Hello! Great video! Are you using the iPhone front mic as input? Or did you set some Bluetooth routing from the guitar?

Thanks! Yes, both: phone mic for recording, then play the recording on the guitar speaker via Bluetooth.

Is there any chance one could add a external midi pedal to control the loop pro? I thought about those with Bluetooth connection but I guess it wouldn't work because you are already using the Bluetooth to connect the guitar to your phone right? So maybe one with a cable but nothing came to mind. There's a TH-camr called Markus k who does something similar but with a I pad and a fcb1010.

In my very latest video from last week I showcase a Bluetooth MIDI controller with Loopy Pro on an iPhone, and certainly you can use a wired controller too. Also, there can be different Bluetooth connections at the same time, so one for the audio and another for MIDI might work, but I'm not sure. Let me know if you test it out?

Btw, a wired controller will likely disable the phone mic I'm using here, so it becomes more complex as you should route everything through the interface. On the other hand, I regularly do that sort of thing too, with the Harley Benton MP-500 aka MeloAudio TS Mega. Smaller than what Markus K has, but quite ok with eight foot switches etc...

I was wondering how long did you have to play with it to learn what you demonstrated or did you do it in segments and then edit it to look like plug in and go either way I enjoyed the demo
    Peace ✌️

Thanks, appreciated! I've been playing with Loopy Pro for some eight months now, so one gets accustomed... On a bigger screen with an interface it can get quite complex, but this is very basic - so yes, this was shot in one take (though it did take MANY takes) and yes, it is quite plug-and-play once you've done the groundwork. (Of course I should have added that then you will save the template and next time you're good to go as soon as the Bluetooth connects.)
