Yooo Nate I got a 5.0 cobra engine on a 302 racing block with a T5 trans with gears for sale if you’re interested in it let me know letting it go and I want it to go to a good home
There aren’t any Eleanor parts on it, anyways. He has 67/68 Shelby style scoops ( upper and lower). The upper scoops are functional, but the lower ones probably aren’t (in actual Shelby mustangs the lowers cooled the rear brakes. He also has a 67 Shelby style hood. But the hood is shorter than an actual Shelby hood, because he has a stock front end, not a Shelby front end. The chin spoiler is aftermarket. The trunk and brake lights are stock, aside from the blacked out bezels. Great looking car.
I would recommend getting frame connectors if it doesn't have them already, they will only run you like 200 bucks and the difference in body stiffness and the reduction in flexing is well worth it, especially if you are planning on an engine swap. Also, I think you should go with a period-correct engine, coyote swaps are cool but something like a built 351 paired to a 4 or 5 speed is way more badass in my opinion. I'm excited it on a lift, I'm interested in the condition of the floors, although you are in California so I'm sure there is little rust! another thing I wouldn't bother with the gas filler neck, just brings a towel haha, you'll get used to it.
Cosmetically it's already looking good 👍 I personally would just focus on improving the car mechanically. Disk break all around, exhaust, fixing the suspension, and last changing the automatic to a stick shift with a go baby go shift knob and possible NOS in the car.
Leave the 289, install AFR aluminum heads, roller cam with roller rockers, Tri Y headers, Cobra high rise intake, fuel injection, T5 swap with hydraulic clutch linkage, Shelby Drop the front end with Alden American coil overs, they make shock tower reinforcement plates for these cars which is highly recommended. They are prone to cracking from flex. Make a video with Four Speed Films.
period correct would be a 390ci generally speaking if it was an "S" code car originally but 428ci came out in 69, might have been an option in 68 but I don't think so, not really sure.
Daniel Moore, you would be correct in the 390 being the biggest option in 1968 installed on a mustang. Although in 1968 all the Shelby Gt-500s had 428 engines from the factory. By period correct I meant the mid to late 1960s versus how he was talking about installing a modern 5.0 or something like that.
@@andy.1236 If He was going for a GT500 you would be right, but having said that your not wrong either, thanks for the info on that. I was going on what I myself have which is a 68 GT 390ci. Granted his car right now is anything but stock, and putting a 5.0 or 428 would only help considering what's in it now. I did mention in an earlier video of his that he might want to check if the 289ci that's in it now is a Hypo motor like the air cleaner sticker suggests because if it is then it might be worth a lot to the right buyer.
@@NateRider Thanks Nate, I am considering the FRP Hot Rod cams and was glad to see the problem was an installation error . Not for you , But for me !!!
That's a compliment. Scotty Kilmer knows his stuff!!! Did you check out my two lame attempts at a vid? I'm a 3valve driver and had to replace the motor. Had a pro put a 75,000 mile 3valve out of a wrecked 06 in it. it seems to have worked out the motor runs good. Doesn't sound like a sewing machine;) And it has a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty - parts and labor.
My personal touches would be discs for the rear, a more classic 5 spoke wheel, led lights all around (those stock lights are scary at night lol), replace the exhaust with an h-pipe, and if replacing the engine, my choice would be to keep it in the Windsor family. Excited for whatever you have planned!
67 and 68 mustangs fastback had the 390 fe high performance motor that would be a big upgrade and more original to the time period 👌🇺🇸😎 bad ass car tho man can’t wait to see where you go with it
I totally agree about the wheels. They over power the visual.Does not really go with the car. A 5 spoke mag ,like the Key Stone mag from the 60's will look mean, with a beefy tire. Since the car is all black , and you put a black mag on. When shopping for tires. Look at a tire that has the red trim on the tire .It is a red 1/4 in pinstripe that's goes round the face of the tire. Have the sales man walk one out to the car ,put it next to the Mustang. I will bet you will like it.Just sets the car off. But if your mag is not black, not as necessary.Looking forward to see what you do to the motor. If you are going to pump major horse power. Get ready to do everything else:) $$$ Keep the videos coming. 👍👍👍
Beautyful car, congrats...for the wheels I think on classic iron wheels all black with bf goodrich tires, put the fog lights and keep the shelby fuel cover externaly but made the modification to actually fuel the car inside the trunk, this thing already looks awesome anyway.
Those are the Shelby scoops, also me personally I would put a roll bar in it, they look tuff with them and then put the shoulder belts in it. Also the motor sounded stock. But you definitely have to check floors and frame tails on those Mustang's because they rust. I've had probably 10 Mustang's 2 fast backs love these cars congrats on getting it 🇺🇸
Ok make sure the motor is not a true 289 Hypo if it is do not lose it, they are worth quite a bit. As far as mileage goes you can bet it's at least turned over once. The 68 came with Vents not scoops those were added to give the Elenor look same with the hood and front clip.
Pointing out the body gaps you can see a rust bubble forming under the paint near the windshield and some body work closer to the door where it looks like they hid something. 😬 Hopefully you'll strip it for ra repaint to see what else its hiding.
I would like to see you leave the body work and interior mostly as is. A period correct road racing style build (seats, suspension, brakes, wheels/tires) would be amazing. A nice NA, big cube, cammed motor (450-500whp), T-56 6sp swap, 9 inch rear w/4.10’s. Of course power steering, AC, and a decent sound system.
I’d say if you want to keep it a 4.6L 289 type of motor, swap in a 2003-2004 terminator cobra motor or a Mach 1 4v motor. It won’t feel as raw and old fashioned but it will feel more old fashioned than a coyote motor.
Definately keep this car man, dont sell it like u did the 69. We've got a restored 68 fastback with a built 427 stroker in it. Beautiful car man, looking forward to your content
Real nice car. I would add the fog lights, throw on some classic looking rims ( magnum 500s?) with raised white letter tires, and see if you can find a center console. Good luck with it!
What do you mean by steel frame, the old mustang like the 64 1/2, to 69 are a unibody frame, where the body and the frame are one together, and dont put any late model motor in that mustang it needs that 289, and or a 302 pushrid motor, just get that motor built to about 400 horse, and that would be really good for that mustang.
1. Aidan American Coilovers 2. Wilwood disc brakes for all four corners 3. 390 cubic inch engine or a coyote or predator engine 4. 4-6 speed manual trans
Actually you can buy these body’s for 18,000 grand brand new and licensed by Ford. You probably have to spend another 15k to 20k in parts though. Nice looking car man 👍🏼
I was going to say rebuild the motor until you said it is not the original. No numbers matching means you can do anything you want. But what ever you do, put an oversized radiator on it. If it was me, I would do a body off restoration. I am sure the frame has a lot of rust and if original suspension, get rid of it and get modern suspension. Brembo or Wilwood brakes. Turbo or supercharge. But up to you.
The doesn't pop with the black on black, someone even painted the chrome parts that make the car stand out but it's not my car, you can do whatever nate
If you wrap some paper towels around the fuel nozzle, and then stick it in the gas door, it won't spill anymore. I do this every time I fill up my 66 mustang
Cant go wrong with a fast back. U got put some rear disc brake on it and it can be done for under 300 bucks. At8:46 look like the paint is bubbling around the window molding.
Bruh you got me checking out all kinds of old cars with this body style. I love the back, and the front is ghostly too! Everything about this car is amazing. I'm really digging the old muscle car designs, and thinking about how could I get my hands on one? Perhaps the Nissan 200SX with the hellcat looking body kit 😂. Any way, this car is mad hot. Sub'd to see it more.

i havent been this excited for a build in a while.
im so happy you are on board! i got videos all this week
427 N/A engine, modern suspension and brakes and a change of wheels you should start with that in my opinion. PD: manual transmision of course XD
Américo Zerpa love that
I like the 427 Windsor but adding a turbo would be great! So many N/A old schools around be nice to add some spice. No, I repeat, no Mod motors!
i like you ideas! sounds great
@@NateRider thanks it's good to know your opinion dude
Id recommend a Modern driveline TKO-500/600 or a T56 if you want a 6th gear
Those sunglasses make you look like a young Skotty Kilmer
Lmao this is so true!
much cringe hahaha
haha it sure does!
I like how hesitant he was to even say a piece of it was Eleanor styled
so much drama!
Nate Rider yeah it’s a sad reality that you can’t refer to a car because it’s trademarked and the company that replicates them is greedy
There aren’t any Eleanor parts on it, anyways.

First time I’ve seen this channel, but a 60s mustang is unique so I subbed
The rear and rims are so fire 🔥🔥🔥 so happy u were able to get the fastback and can’t wait to see what you do with it 👊🏿

You and me both!
i own a 67 coupe and the best parts of the 67--68 of all the 60's mustangs are the headlights to the tailights
That blood-red steering wheel, man- brings that whole badass look together IMO
i love the steering wheel. adds a special touch
That Money Shot was fantastic and so glad there's no wing on it. Slick and sick ride man. Beautiful piece of rolling art!
glad you liked it! Subscribe to channel please! (if you haven't already)
@@NateRider I will! Have a Black 14" Brembo GT Mustang and a Reef Blue 93' LX notch. Your ride has me jonesin' for an addition to the stable.
You should definitely get some crager or American racing wheels, like the original bullitt mustang type of wheels.
Yea, because not every old car has those
UGLY. Get some centerline warriors.
I like how you told us how much you bought it for, a lot of youtubers are too scared to talk about that stuff for some reason
put fog lights on it but just have them as halos around air intakes

I’m very excited to see this build. As much as I like the bullitt mustang, it’s cool to see someone doing something else that’s original.
If you decide to do an engine swap you should keep it period correct like a 427 or 428. Good luck with the build!
period correct would be a 390ci generally speaking if it was an "S" code car originally but 428ci came out in 69, might have been an option in 68 but I don't think so, not really sure.

Third gen swap it
coyote or 428!
Nate Rider Man that’s a hard decision to make. But I would go for the 428

4th swap. Coyote supercharged
